  1. Any more about the fire toward Hang Dong? I live near Big C, and my dog went a bit crazy about an hour ago...but I just thought he was being his normal psycho self...however, he did sound a big more insistent and aggressive than usual. ( he is small and usually sweet...sounded angry and upset and insisted on being let out to look around.

On the Hang Dong road at Moo Petburin (opposite Bangwantan turn off - U Turn after Macros) - Just went out on my balcony front and back (good view from rear as no houses for a fair distance) too dark to see anything (which says something in itself - no peoplecarrying lights or fires), but can confirm didn't smell smoke - my dog (which is 70Kg, so not sosmall) is very sensative to anything out of the ordinary - he is not yappy, but lets us know with a threatening bark on strange noises, smells etc - has been very quiet. So no news is good news here in Hang Dong Road. Back to the studio, Keith...

if i was a 70kilo dog in this heat i wouldnt be yappy either. cut down on the treats.

  2. A hel_l of a lot of wind and lighting but no #$%^@ RAIN. :D

Nothing to the north towards Mae Jo either although the wind is pleasant enough...

hope it stays dry tomorow. i did my smalls today but i'll be doing a full load tomorrow.  :)

    nice one

  3. If it were skirts, I'd definitely be more disturbed.

Your sarcasm aside, look into the context of the present circumstances:

    • Miscreants have started causing trouble in Chiang Mai and other provinces, setting fire to and in front of government offices and major businesses. In Chiang Mai, that includes behind the governor's mansion as well as a minor fire in front of Big C Hang Dong.
    • "Blackshirts" have been identified as armed and more than willing to use violence.
    • The gathering was in front of a place with a sign that says "official residence", which implies the home of "someone important"
    • The change of clothes and women pulling up on motorcycles seemed to occur in a planned, synchronized fashion, as if to expeditiously transport everyone involved from point A to point B, wherever that may have been.

Irrespective of your opinion of me or my interpretation of the situation, it was enough to cause several neighbors concern. The group has, however, moved on to wherever they were planning to go, so situation over. I admit I'm glad it turned out to be nothing to do with anything near my house, so I'll take being mocked as a welcome reminder that there has been no trouble close to home, yet.

It certainly seems to me that it is better to report something suspicious and it be nothing then to ignore something assuming it is nothing. Better to err on the side of caution. The situation described is sufficiently odd to warrant a post.

Thank you for your post. Best for all to stay alert at this dangerous time.

Report things that are suspicious to the authorities. Spreading unsubstantiated conjecture and rumour on the internet is irresponsible imo mr 3 posts.

Anyway a group of people going to a funeral is no cause for alarm unless it was my funeral and nobody had informed me.

could have been the all blacks fan club (they can get a bit rowdy) or a referees convention and we all know much troble they cause. i think he was right to be alarmed.

  4. big game saturday. a top-of-the-table clash against chainat. kickoff at 6pm . this game will be at the old sports stadium in town and not 700yr stadium. admission 30b. me and kev will leave red lion at 5.30 if you need a lift let us know.

  5.  music police arent in chiang mai at the moment but take the advice above of kevinhunt and rama and  if any problems contact rkt directly  02-861-1655. they claim these are rogue employess.  bobbytin had a problem down south but replied to this topic after doing a search on tv.

  6. According to the fixture list, this weeks game is at the 700 year stadium, they usually play at the municiple stadium in town. I'll drive by tomorrow some time and get a clarification on it. Kick off is 6pm.

nice one , that would be great :)

  7. you've got a bee in your bonnet 'originalposter'!! If you have a view on Sunday Lunches lets hear it. I don't think the mods would pull that. To my knowledge they only pulled a couple of off topic points. Why don't you share with Chiang Mai TV members your considered views on Sunday Lunch in this fine city. Have you tried ours at The Olde Bell or sunday Lunch at The Pub, or somewhere else. do let us hear of your experiences.

hmm... this post doesn't make sense now that Originalposters 2nd and more vitriolic missive has bee pulled.

i wrote a very positive comment about the roast lamb at the pub, non-offensive, it was taken off by the mods, maybe i should have started my post as 'i havn't tried sunday lunch at the olde bell yet , but i did.........i had no motive for writing this apart from telling people how good the lamb was on a 'sunday lunch specials' post.i guess i must have been off topic ! ! :)

Why don't you start a thread called Sunday Lunches rather that add your post to a thread about Sunday lunch specials at a forum sponsor's pub. I'm scratching my head because I would have thought this would be very obvious... unless you are trolling

fair point, and i understand that, the only reson i posted my last comment was the op's prior comment asking people to write what they thought of 'sunday lunch's' and even mentioned the pub.... ' trolling', i really didn't know what that meant, but i did look it up, and no, i wasn't trolling ! :D

  9. The best Sunday lunch in Chiang Mai hands down, surely has to be the buffet at the Holiday Inn.

Choice of soup, carvery, seafood, Japanese, pasta, salad, cakes...... you best be hungry :)

nice one, sounds good, count me in !

  10. i was lucky enough to have dinner at claridges a couple of years ago, where gordon ramsey has a restaurant, we had the table d'hote menu which i think was set at around 45 pounds,i have to say it is one of the finest dining experiences i have ever had. :)

  11. Yes, directions in Chiang Mai do tend to be based around the Wats.

My father's directions were all based around the pubs .... go past the Dog and Duck, turn left at the Saracen's Head ..

His directions got more difficult as time went on - mainly because he never got past the Dog and Duck.

Welcome back Mr. Khunt. Had a nice holiday?

hooray, the new slim-line mr hunt is back :)

  12. Sawasdee Khrup, Khun SpoliaOpima,

Oh my, the haunting sixties will just never go fully ectoplamsic, and disappear: praise be :)

Berkeley, 1966: My human meat-package lived at 2442 Roosevelt: upstairs, lived Barry Melton. Heard the Fish many times in their earliest incarnation when they had the "jazz hipster" drummer with whom Country Joe had "open conflicts" with on stage.

Used to walk past the row of antique shops on Shattuck Avenue near Ashby : upstairs, in a warehouse, or whatever, Credence Clearwater, was practicing, and John Fogerty's voice just cut through the walls and came right down to the street at you.

Went to a party in Canyon, near Berkeley (no, not Topanga Canyon) : Barry, while stoned (of course) did a magnificent guitar improvisation that went on and on : everyone in the room was mesmerized (if not already chemically mesermized : my human, of course, already into his "yoga" thing, was only mesmerized by the music).

Those days were thick, and the textures oscillated, shimmered :D

    best, ~o:37;

wow ! thanks for the very eloquant mind trip ! i am transported ! :D

  13. Barry "The Fish" Melton was the original lead guitarist of Country Joe and The Fish. Barry appears on all the Country Joe and The Fish recordings and he also wrote some of the songs that the band recorded. He appeared in the films made at Monterey Pop and Woodstock, and also appeared as an outlaw in the neo-Western film, 'Zachariah,' and other films in which Country Joe and the Fish appear. Melton is also a founding member of The Dinosaurs, the Bay Area's only psychedelic music "supergroup." He has been a criminal defense lawyer for over 25 years and he retired in 2009 as the Public Defender of Yolo County, California. He is a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law (the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization)

Barry also continues to be active in music. Since 2001 he has performed in Italy, England, France and Russia (he appeared with the Russian band, Crossroadz, in Moscow). He often appears with his own band, mainly around Northern California, and generally tours Europe briefly in the summer. Peter Albin of Big Brother and The Holding Company has continued to play with Barry for over 40 years.

  15. This monday evening 1st of march we have top canadian talent 'Ronley Teper' live @ Guitarman. Children at heart who love comedic, poetic, theatric, yet at times serious storytelling alongside truly magical music, should prepare themselves for the surprising world of Ronley Teper's Lipliners. Ronley Teper, a performance artist turned musician, has collaborated with the who's who of the Canadian independent music scene --not to mention puppets-- to produce a body of music that listeners constantly compare to Tom Waits and Mary Margaret O' Hara. Her new EP Ronley Teper's Lipliners grew out of twenty short musical monologues that were publicly workshopped during twenty improvised shows featuring a revolving door of Canada's finest musicians who together create lush cinematic musical landscapes. The Ottawa Citizen describes her as having "an almost childlike fascination for experimentation." Americana UK has called her "Eclectic Nu-Freak Folk Perfect for Late Night Listening." "If Joanna Newsom gave birth to Tom Waits' illegitimate daughter and then refused to breastfeed her, the girl might grow up sounding a lot like Toronto's Ronley Teper," according to BlogTo. Ronley was born in South Africa and grew up in Toronto. She picked up a guitar in high school, then learned to put her alluring poems and monologues to thematic melodies. Her first release Stories From The Tray (2001), produced by Keith Mariash, is an album of stories depicting a naive waitresses sobering experience serving sordid regulars. Ronley's follow-up album, Cornered In The Alley (2005), produced by Mark Mariash (Sarah Slean, Ron Sexsmith), Carl Petzelt, and Chris Bartos (Sarah Harmer) is an exploration of Universal Love and the pretty, dark, dirty, ugly, childlike and beautiful experiences of everyday love. Ronley continues to experiment in vocal characterizations, music as a performance art, puppetry and poetry with some of Canada's finest performers. Check out these links

  16. ive no idea if they sell german shepherds ?

but theres a dirt soi that runs around the back of the shops opposite the fire station that has many shops selling puppies

see the green arrow .... try looking there .... dave2

That's Pratoo Hai-ya (sp.???). I would be very careful when even thinking of buying any animal from that market. It is notorious for its many sick puppies and/or pups with some sort of mental and/or physical defects.

We got our german sheppard from this market 3 years ago and its been a crackin' dog, no problems,a beautiful healthy and very good natured dog

  17. He didn't say Red Lion; he said Red Loin. I took that to be some place where your loins get red. Maybe some kinky place where you rub chili pepper on your crotch. :D

    Now that's what I call 'hot action' ! :)

Although as trainee riff-raff, I don't often visit the establishment, I would agree that at some point the free-publicity ought to be backed-up by a little sponsorship money for TV. Play the Game Basil ! :D

if he was gettin a share of the google ads money his posts would have been top earners. theyll be inviting him back to boost the numbers again. always entertainning. 'free water' became a cult classic.

how many times has red Lion been mentioned since he was banned for saying it once.

is it safe? not tonight or tommorow.

The hypocrisy is astonishing. How many threads have been run by Mikes,Pinkies,Piggy's, Charlies, Miguel's, Dukes^3, and on and on and on, including some right now.Who the hel_l cares?

red lion is always busy. maybe its jealousy.

  19. The fact of the mater is that everyone has known the 2 or 3 names that Kevin has taken since the last time K. Hunt and his restaurant has been banned. I posted a ditty about how he was on the sly promoting his restaurant and it was deleted.

The Red Loin is a Night Bazaar restaurant and the locals do not go to it. Make him pay for sponsorship, what a cheap bastard.

I forgot to say that I really like his posts though.

cheap bastard! - isit okay to insult someone that cant reply .i never saw him insult a fellow poster, did you? plenty of locals go to red lion, but no no-class riffraff like you.
