it used to be that when a topic became uninterersting it slid down the pages and died a natural death. now they are culled because they have "run their course", even when people are still enjoying it.
what does run its course mean? newspeak?

For those of us who would like to get rid of the system I think we are looking at a lost cause.
Check out who is the one voter for:
I Love The New Feature
desperate tomes at tv when the staff are having to vote for their silly little gimicks, start topics to liven things up (eek's chiang mai tales) and ignore forum rules in an attempt to be 'funny' (The word fuc_k).

Most of them at ridiculous prices, i bet. nearly all for sale 'cos they aint working, and all looking for a mug, straight off the plane.I just took a quick look at Thai Visa Classified on business for sell in Chiang Mai. Counted over 40 bar/restaurants for sell.
Hey stranger things have happened- you buy a place that was worth 3 Mio 3 years ago for 1 Mio now.
if thais can't sell a place for 3 million, three years later they want 5million.

A good 2-0 win for Chiang Mai puts them 4 points clear at the top with 3 games to go, the game in hand came from Chainat playing and losing to Phicit 1-0 on thursday night. There was a lot of fighting after the game also by all accounts. Chiang Mai away at Chiang Rai next week.
some of us are planning an away day this weekend. you guys going saturday and coming back after the game on sunday i hear, and me and kevin leaving from the red lion sunday morning, coming back monday. kevin's got some spare places if anyones up for it?

I don't know, that whole area feels a bit too trendy and up-market to me. And prices aren't getting any lower either, they wanted 30 baht for a small-ish Sang Som Coke at Half Moon! Fortunately the sunny attitude from the woman who runs the place made up for it, to an extent.
Moon muang soi 2 is trendy and uparket and 30 baht for a drink is expensive! where do you usually drink?

Gotta give Guitarman props for supporting a real music scene in CM. A couple others do it, but this is pretty much THE PLACE to see live original Thai and Farang bands in town. Especially those with an edge ! .....This is probably the pt where someone who knows if there's a link to either The Guitarman Movie or a trailer for it should post it for us. Anyone ???
Btw.... with a re-located Cafe Del Sol (Ex-Rasta bar Alley by Yupparaj School) opening on September 1st right next door to them, and then that other rasta club across the street at the base of the Iron Bridge, that area's really gonna be coming into its own. I look fwd to having a not just a venue to go to, but a whole area suitable for hopping and finding different groups of friends mixing around.
friday was awesome...rock on !...here's a link to the movie clip

Great three pages of posts all except the last two prior to September 2009 most in 2008.
Perhaps a new thread is in order. Apparently they are still in business one post says they are up to there old tricks and another says tell every one.
I don't know about you but if they ripped me off I would say more than up to there old tricks and stick it on a thread that has been dead for almost a year.
I smell a rat.
If any one has something to say please do.
your an idiot.
a new thread wouldn't let people know about their previous misdeeds.
if they ripped me off i would say more than they're up to their old tricks. they didnt rip me off , they ripped off a friend of a friend.
you need to improve your sense of smell.

Mau tours, now near wat phra singh, are still up to their old tiricks. be warned.

guinness and tetley's are 160b a pint during happy hour (4-6pm) at red lion. nice one.

you missed another good game Netineti. a good first half from chiang mai and a better second for nakhon sawan. a controversial disallowed goal in the last seconds almost caused a riot from the visiting supporters. great entertainment.
warning: dont taker the kids - they get all the attention from the tigerettes!

Fish now swimming to their new home - topic closed thanks
no problem. plenty of more suckers in chiang mai.

Most bars on Loi Khro have changed owners at least once in the past 4 years. I'm not talking about legitimate restaurants either. Bars in that area are being rented for 18,000 to 38,000 baht per month. 25,000/36,000/38,000/etc.I can only think of one bar that may own the prosperity and it is not on Loi Khro. The Chiang Mai Entertainment Center (Boxing) is another matter. 12,000 to 30,000 baht pm. I do agree that by natural selection a weeding out needs to take place. As long as these bars have a farang evolved that wants bragging rights to I own a bar in Thailand and don't mind losing money that maybe a while.
most farangs dont evolve. fact.

a bit early to have started drinking isnt it?

Good observations and comments. By the way, being able to speak and read Thai--at least to some extent--for better than 15 years now, I would always order in Thai. I will try to find another, maybe even better place to spend my money. All part of the adventure.
if youve been really here 15 years your a slow learner. you liked the food the cook and the price but now you wont go there. thats daft. fact.

i heard the new guinness is from dublin. guinness in thailand was from malaysia. i'll try my first one before the big game tomorrow - chiang mai fc v uthai thani. pre-match meeting for supporters and shareholders at the red lion 4pm. its also happy hour. nice one.
does the pub sell guinness? did the olde bell end selling it?
-
looks like the marmite mixture (guiness) is back in town
Where's that at?
Guinness is back at o'malley's , un-irish too. nice one.

i agree While i appreciate he wants to get rid of his business if we allow these kinds of things to run the forums will just end up being another version of the classifieds.

here's the recent 'pop video' by chiang mai film maker gary boyle for thai rockers 'zero hero'.....it's a rocker !

Hey, i was thinking of organizing our own sector at the 700 years stadium. Something like "F" side (F standing for falang) :-)))
United falangs of Chiang Mai :-))
Then a flag will be indespensable!
What do you reckon? :0)
terrible idea ...really terrible idea, stick us in the zoo , so people can point at us , av a word !
