  1. 1. Smells of credit card fraud.

    2. Smells of credit card fraud.

    3. See 1 and 2.

    4. Serious buyers in Thailand head to a shopping center and pays directly there. But of course that is not possible with stolen card numbers...

    5. Users who post this kind of stuff are always taken down by local authorities. Why? They don't like foreigners coming here trying to take advantage... that's their job you see.

    6. OP, good luck, and I suggest you don't do what you are thinking of doing because you will get caught.

  2. "Duang Dee Hill Tribe coffee 100% Pure Thai Arabica Coffee Hand picked and Hand roasted Hill tribe Coffee"

Not a bad brew and it benefits the Hill Tribes. Through an espresso machine, it is quite tasty, strong but not bitter....

100% agreed, it fantastic for the price. 250 grams in the most expensive supermarket around here (Paragon) is only 85 Baht and it beats almost all other coffees on offer. It's great for day-to-day cups. I prefer the "Unique Strong" over the "Classic" even though my current package is classic.

Not only is it hand picked and hand roasted. It is 100% Organic. Other organically grown beans I have seen is at least 6-8 times more expensive and most times not as good.

I do like my selection I have on hand though... Bona is a suprisingly good Thai bean that was found at a small place at Jatujak market one morning. Great for iced coffees.

  3. If you can't trust them, then you shouldn't have them install/upgrade/etc anything.

Anyhow, since the "damage" has been done, download and install the following programs

    1. Spybot S&D (www.safer-networking.org)

    2. Malwarebytes Antimalware (www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php)

    3. Spywareblaster (www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)

    4. Run an online antivirus scanner, eg. http://housecall.trendmicro.com and/or www.pandasecurity.com/activescan/

This should be enough alleviate your fears.

  4. Did I say somewhere that I'm using a torrent client?

You have only provided very tiny amounts of information, so there has to be a lot of guessing when proposing solutions.

So, if you really properly want to diagnose the problem and accurately solve it, please provide detailed technical specs of computer(s), network, ISP, D-slam location, and more.

Simple questions with little to no detail will result in general cookie-cutter answers.

    Snide remarks gets you nowhere....

I hope this clears up why I answered as I did, and why I only propose one possible solution at a time.

  5. This is most likely caused by your usage of alternative DNS severs.

Try using the true DNS' and see if the problem remains.

In either case, please post again with your results. Thanks.

I indeed did use alternative name servers but have reset them to the ones from true now and the result is a negative.

Another thing to consider is that if you have too many concurrent connections True will start sending reset packets to you. This means that you enter a URL and nothing happens, it just errors out on you.

This is most times caused by torrenting from public trackers and trackers with a large amount of seeds/peers. I suggest shutting down your torrent client, reset the modem, and reboot your computer. Things should now be back to normal.

With lots of mucking about I have found a good limit for torrents (at least for my True connection), max 400 global connections and max 100 per torrent. This doesn't limit my surfing at all.

  6. Youtube is not blocked in Thailand, nor is it off line.

You give very meager info, so I can only assist with basic and general suggestions.

    Reboot your modem, router, pc.

Clear your browser cookies and cache (keep in mind you will lose any and all saved passwords to websites).

    Flush your DNS resolver cache.

WinXP. Click "Start -> Run. Then type ipconfig /flushdns

Win Vista/7: Click "Start" then type ipconfig /flushdns in the search programs bar

If this doesn't solve it try the following

Run your antivirus, anti malware programs (I suggest Malwarebytes Antimalware and SpyBot S&D)

    Try with another computer

Use a webproxy (eg. www.hidemybox.com) (since youtube is not blocked in Thailand, the suggestion is a legal one)

Try using a VPN proxy (since youtube is not blocked in Thailand, the suggestion is a legal one). Click the following link and the program will download. Rename the file to whatever you like. Unzip and run it. http://hidemybox.com/index.php/1010110A/3f...f82cb78dc915124

    I hope that helps.

  7. So, a face saving move by all parties?

    What did this move solve?

Will resentment still brew under the surface and be ready to explode at the first disagreement?

Will the protesters feel like they gained something from their long time protesting (spanning years), or will they demand compensation (not necessarily money)? The leaders can only do so much.

Will both sides accept the election results and not take to the streets should they "feel" the election didn't go as planned?

Will the "ronin" (black shirts?) simply disappear without a fuzz?

Is there an established terror cell (or more) in Bangkok now? One would guess there is plenty of stashed weaponry in and around the capital.

and many more questions that haven't been addressed in any way, shape or form yet.

  8. I've seen such pins in Platinum Mall, but I'm not sure if they offer custom services, and it is a PITA to find a shop in there if you don't know the exact location of it.

Another option would be MBK, but they would charge a lot for it. It is a farang mall after all.

If you want more info, please feel free to PM me.

  9. I just contacted True and they didn't even know what w3.mict.go.th was. They kept telling me they couldn't access it...

To get anything done with True (and probably other ISP's) you have to be very persistent, it is going to take about 10-14 days before they will begin to acknowledge that there is a problem. Then they will tell you "Sorry, we understand the problem, but nothing we can do."

Naturally you'd ask, "who can do something about it?". And the answer would be "I don't know, let me check with my technical team".

Of course nothing will happen, so you'd call back and repeat the issue yet once more, and they will take their own good time and then decide not to respond.

This will be repeated ad naseum UNLESS you are on them twice daily asking what the update is and when they can solve the problem.

I suggest everyone start calling at least once a day, asking when the problem is going to be solved for websites that are "not working". (There is no point in mentioning government blocking.)

Please make sure to tell the call center people that you know it is not their fault that the ISP sucks, but they are the only point of contact you have so you ave to call them. Hopefully this will make the call center staff report "the big problem" to whomever listens.

Another possible thing you can consider is to inform them that since you are unable to view legal websites normally you are forced to use a VPN proxy which then blocks Trues legally required logging and filtering. Of course, you as a user do not want to put True in trouble by blocking their logging of the sites you visit, but they give you no choice. Ask them for an alternative way to connect to your critically needed websites.

  10. What does your network setup look like? Do you do load balancing between the different ADSL lines or are they attached to separate parts of the network independently?

What programs are being used by the staff? Keep in mind that even throttled torrent traffic kills most consumer grade ADSL lines (due to excessive amounts of concurrent connections. I know for a fact True has a very low limit on concurrent connections).

Instead of consumer grade ADSL lines, upgrade to business ADSL. Less limitations, and only a bit more expensive. They do not cost 20,000 baht....

Ask for as much upload bandwidth as you can get.

  11. According to Squaretrades recently released research, 31% of laptops fail within 3 years of purchase. About 20% of the failures are hardware related and over 10% is accidental damage.

Netbook are projected to have a 20% higher failure rate than laptops. However, the data is over 1 year only so the results are not conclusive.

The most reliable laptop manufacturers are....

    1. ASUS

    2. Toshiba

    3. Sony

    The WORST are....

    3. Acer

    2. Gateway

    1. HP

The conclusion according to Squaretrade is:

"Given the high overall failure rates of laptops and sizeable difference in reliability by brand, reliability should be a concern for consumers shopping around for the best holiday deals."

  12. There are Red shirts in the area, but Pantip is not part of the rally site. The rally site ends at the Pratunam intersection. It is easy to access Pantip and should not pose any problems at all. It might be a bit crowded in the evening time, but day time generally has light traffic.

It is, however, easier and probably a bit safer to go to IT Mall on Ratchada.

Keep in mind that Sukhumvit Soi 3 is a one way street, so if you grab a tax,i or drive, you would have to use Sukhumvit before doubling back to Petchaburi (if going to Pantip) using Wireless. It Mall should be easily accessible directly down from the Sukhumvit-Asok intersection.

  13. I wrote this while ago: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Laptop-netbo...fo-t319781.html

It might help you clear your mind a bit. I still stand by my original comment in the thread though. Forget netbooks for anything serious. Remember, many people who buy netbooks today are upgrading from a PC or laptop that is several years old, and compare their experiences to that old computer.... you are going from a powerful machine, and you would suffer when you experience the performance of the netbook.

    There's so many laptops I can't decide... :)
  14. Looking at your request, there is one laptop that would fit very well.

    Lenovo Thinkpad x200si.

It would cost you just a hair below 28,000 baht.

Do NOT get a netbook. They are underpowered to the extreme, and were never meant to do general computing, but only as the name suggests, simple online things.

  15. Disclaimer: I do not care about Thai politics, I do not take sides, and I think it would be unwise to do so as a foreigner. I do keep myself informed as much as I can without going into the extreme....

One thing is for sure, there are far more Red shirts on the streets now than there were Yellows at any time. With the sheer number of people moving through Bangkok there will naturally be pro's and con's for all sides. Personally I was seriously inconvenienced as I was not able to go where I needed while the Reds were passing on Petchburi. It took them a good 5 hours to clear out. It was impressive by any stretch of the imagination. The atmosphere was more than friendly and approached carnival levels. Street support was decent with staff and workers from nearby establishments came out and cheered. I would venture to guess that business owners didn't cheer, but their staff sure did. These "street side supporters" seemed genuinely happy to see the Red's marching through and the enthusiasm didn't fade for many hours.

I have added a few images to try to illustrate the overall "feeling" on the streets.
