1. Anyone know where exactly is the Kebab house on UN Irish pub road. Been there many times no luck. I want samosa too. Thanks

With the moat behind you - drive up the road with U.N. Irish Pub. pass it on your right. When you come to the first set of traffic lights - park. You will see the Kebab House on your left

    Thats not right

Go past the UN irish pub past New Dehli (which has real big nice samosas too) then there is a right turn into the beer bar center the kebab place is right on the turning on the left or if you dont turn it its on your right and its a very small place personally they are not so good there New dehli has better but you have to wait for them to be cooked fresh.

  2. Just what is wrong with FarangCravings? Does not know Thailand too well, that is for sure.

I'm not saying the guy is guilty or innocent but it's obvious more evidence is needed. I've seen how it is fabricated here and for those interested, there are past cases that show this.

Yeah I got no clue just arrived this afternoon

  3. There ought be a forum rule against shameless Pattaya bashing. The Pattaya metro area is now a major city with lots of diverse things happening all the time. And yet people who have never even been here have such idiotic opinions about the place.

It seems over the years that the most rabid Pattaya bashers are Phuketians. I have been there a number of times (but stopped going for obvious reasons, rip off city) and I can easily imagine why. Folks back home often have a negative biased view of Thailand in general. So its easy to say, all the bad things happen in Pattaya, not in virginal Phuket. Nice try, we know better.

    Back to the Russkie ...

Most pedophilia happens in Pattaya although Chiang Mai is catching up fast with 2 cases this last month but Pattaya has the bad rap because it deserves it, it attracts the dregs of society criminals, perverts and Pedos and no one denys it that does not live there hel_l even some nice guys that live there complain of the low lifes.

if I want a wild weekend of girly action im off to Pattaya theres no where better for that sort of action and Patts advertises itself for that and I certainly would not go there for the beach

    cant deny it

Phuket cant hold a candle to Patts

    Back to the Russkie ...

GREAT more rules on TV dont you think theres enough censorship already

    Back to the Ruskie

  5. Jeez one of the most obvious things that comes to mind here is what an obvious target Mr. Mikhail Pletnev would be to the cunning and evil-doers that skulk and lurk throughout Pattaya and its realms, making contacts with local natives so as to have a wide network of opportunity to snare juicy and apparently affluent prey such as Mr. Mikhail Pletnev. Then on top of that there threats from those criminals without formal jobs also!!

There has been several high profile suckers snared in the Pattaya region over the years and some of them have indeed been caught in compromised positions with illicit activities or substances however the lure of lucre always exceeds the balance of sanity let alone justice and fair play and thus you have all media knee jerk reacting to sensationalized police statements etc etc and The TV forum is not excluded from that either.

In regards to Mr. Pletnev he does seem to brazenly offer his open door for investigation by police or media and whilst this is perhaps foolish at a minimum it is CERTAINLY not the natural actions of a wrong-doer when snared or caught unawares! Please give this guy a break, and don't jump on the mass-media's normal lynch-mob mentality of guilt by implication under the camera lens. The days of true investigative journalism are almost dead in our home countries and have probably never been known here nor never will be. Just imagine yourself in this guy's shoes before rushing to any judgment about anything and remember that the majority of people involved are probably angling themselves for a piece of the large chunk of change that Mr. Pletnev will no doubt be alleviated of regardless of his guilt or innocence.

For those that have been here a while you'll know I speak the truth.

I would not be in his shoes as I dont associate or know any pedophiles that would name me when they get arrested and implicate me in the same sort of activities

He is innocent until proven guilty

    agreed

  6. As usual there is no suggestion that the police are planning to go after the procurers who provide underage boys and girls and offer them to tourists in Pattaya. No doubt they know who they are and take kick backs from them as well as get them to hand over the odd client, so they can look good occasionally busting foreign paedophiles without any effort. As with the drug trade the worthless Thai police have no intention of trying to curb such a lucrative business. They are directly to blame for child prostitution in Pattaya which can be stamped out, if the government has a will, just as it was stamped out in Havana in the 50s and 60s.

Nothing wrong with setting up Paedophiles the more stings the better to get the scum and prevent them from predating on kids.

A tourist knows very well they should not be with a child having sexual relations NO EXCUSES

  7. Im sure he will get his trial, but seems he is very well connected what with buddys with Russias PM so might slip through the net

I'd hate to have you on my jury. :bah:

There is nothing new in cases like this being tried by press prior to being found guilty cases such as

    Garry Glitter GUILTY

    Pete Townsend NOT GUILTY

Michael Jackson WHO KNOWS but was found innocent but the accusation was always was there

A very famous case in the USA where a whole familys life was destroyed by trial by press the Mcmartin case http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McMartin_preschool_trial they were ultimately found innocent but still suffered death threats even after being found not guilty, they lost everything in that case. Its a rare case

Generally those that are charged 9 times out of 10 there is reason behind the charges and someone who is whiter than white does not usually get dragged into something like that with the exception of a few very rare cases.

In this case the guy is now accused of Raping a 15 year old and they have that boy so the only way to eliminate trial by press is to have the press not informed until after the result of the trial until that is the case people are going to make judgements on that persons lifestyle, sexual orientation, past accusations, and what he is supposedly accused of, and make a subconcious decision on there guilt or innocence.

Thats just the reality of the fact.

Of course he is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty but its not always realistic to presume people will take that stand

  8. this man have a huge reputation as closeted homosexual back home in russia, everybody knew he dated men.

Funny coincedence: he was accused in 98 in the very same crime, but was realesed later. He is a big person in russia so i think he just bribed hes way out or his powerfull friends helped him.

in my personal opinion i think he did it.
And your opinion is worth what.... ? TV has said no flames, hang em highs etc., yet leave that on the board.

Suggest Admins include such rubbish in the list of comments not tolerated..

His opinion is worth just as much as yours

  9. I went to an Indian place and got hooked on mutton tikki masal with Nan bread. This place is really good, but just a tad bit pricey to make it a biweekly or triweekly event to dine at.

Bill comes up to 200 baht for the mutton tikki masala , with nan bread and a can of lipton ice tea. If it were say around 120-130 baht per meal id be there more often.

So does anyone know of a good, authentic, fully spiced Indian place somewhere else that is cheaper and just as good as the place on ratchwithi road?

Indian curry isn't much dfferent from thai curry except i believe Indian cooking uses yogurt to thicken it instead of coconut milk (could be wrong), so if i can get a bag of curry at the market for 20 baht, cheaper Indian must be possible somewhere.

    Where's it at ?

pay more cry once, pay cheaper cry forever....thats what the sign in front says..LOL

Ultimately, id prefer to not have to cry at all.

Try Hinlay - I thoroughly endorse the following post

    Original post from 'Silent Post'

t is a nice place indeed. The guy who owns it is very welcoming and the food can be cooked English or Delhi style

Being British we opted for Delhi, and it was very nice, if a little too rich

The wait is good, as you know the food is f-f-f-fresh

    >>>>> Hindlay Curry House off Gaewnawarat Road, Soi 2 is well worth a try.

Mutton is always the most pricey and you will pay quite a bit more for a Lamb/mutton curry than you would a Chicken Curry

Normally i go to the same place you did and have chicken curry a Nan and a beer and am out for less than 200 Baht also tried Spicy Bollywood for the first time the other day nice curry fresh and nice Nan curry was a little salty for my taste but the owner says he will correct that on the next visit

Cost was the same less than 200 baht for a Curry nan and Beer

  10. My problem DUDE is that you're post gives the impression that Ao Nang is really really expensive and a small Chang Beer costs 120B.....I've never paid 120B for a small Chang here.

The exchange rate cripples everyone coming to Thailand not just Ao Nang.

Sure Ao Nang is overpriced in places ...but not everywhere.

That beach bar you're on about is a right bloody rip off......they wanted 120B for small beer ...I told 'em to shove it.

I'd like to add that every other daytime beach bar in Ao Nang charges around 70 or 80B for a small beer

I would of told em to shove it too however it was the first place we went and ordered and then got the bill just as we do in any other bar and then got the price, after that we asked.

I will say one thing though for those looking for a bar business seems Krabi has long term owners as we got chatting to a couple of farang bar owners and a thai bird and most had had the same Bar for 5 plus years rent was in line with CM bars but the diff is most Bars in CM flip every year as they dont make money so if ya goona get a bar best do it in Ao Nang where you can get 190 baht for a Jack coke from the tourists. :D

  11. Let me rephrase...

what i mean is that i agree Ao Nang is expensive compared to places such as chiang mai, but it is a different kind of place altogether. Sure place's will rip you off, but there are lots of local places where you will have a better time anyway, and pay less money for it too.

But It is still Way Way cheaper than living in Europe.

and if you don't like it....well you know where the airport is....

Whats your problem DUDE i posted my own experience on traveling to Krabi and specifically in the Ao Nang area where its ridiculously expensive compared to other places in Thailand we all know that once you find the local places things are cheaper but until then its a complete rip off down there especially the bar areas and specifically the bar area on the beach there.

I specifically spoke to an english lass who had arrived the day earlier and was shocked at the prices and said it was cheaper at home and that was last year ,now with the pound like it is its obviously even more expensive.

The truth is if your a tourist there your gonna pay ridiculous prices, if your someone that wants to live there you better find the local places real quick unless you got deep pockets.

On another note we biked from Chiang Mai all the way down stopping in many places on the way and Krabi was the most expensive place by far . Chiang Mai is different but a Big Chang beer here in a popular bar is 80 baht and in Krabi in a similar place its 120 for a small beer that's 3 x the price in CM, Krabi aint nothing special for that price diff.

I already biked out of there NattyMatt but enjoyed my few days there and you will be happy to know I wont be rushing back anytime soon.

    Krabi prices

120 baht small Beer that is 2 pounds 44 pence for 1/2 a pint

190 baht Jack soda that is 3 pounds 87 pence

Dunno bout you mate but my local is cheaper than that back home

  12. thanks for making the post, so I did not have to make it;)

    Any other experiences.

Is Krabi much cheaper than Phuket

A mate and I drove our Bikes to Krabi from Chiang Mai and HOLY SHIT its expensive when your used to CM prices, we was in the main tourist area but small beers were 120 baht jack soda 190 baht and food was same as the uk its ridiculously expensive there just like Phuket

Were not that cheap but it was a hard pill to swallow Ao nang is set up to relieve tourists of there money fast. we did find a nice thai place where our cheapness could be serviced and big changs at just 39 baht with a 30 baht Pad thai :D but there are not many of them and they are round the back streets.

  13. I was recently offered a teaching job there myself, and I am seriously considering taking it. I don't need wild nights out. I just need one bar with good beer and friendly locals to be happy. Also, someone earlier mentioned a very nice apartment for 5000 baht a month. Since I'll be moving there, I'd love the information on that place. Does it have a website I could take a gander at?

My mate and I drove our Motorbikes from Chiang Mai to Chumphon and we stayed in town at the Chumphon garden hotel which was excellent for 500 baht between us anyway just over the road is a couple of farang bars that cater to backpackers overnighting there before heading to the islands the next day so there are a couple of farang bars to hang out at but its not a wild town by any means.

I really wish I had done my homework as I missed all those great beaches and diving ops but no worrys i am planning on heading to Chumphon again and may look at opening a small dive shop and guesthouse there on the beach.

Looks a nice little town with everything you might need

  14. Any scuba diving operations off Khanom or in the area ??

Looking for an up and coming place to open a small shop, don't even care if I only dive once a week

I have been to Sichon several times but never got to snorkel or dive there as Sichon is rather quiet and not much going on at all

Olsen is there a Scuba Diving School there and if nt is there any type of demand even in a small way. ??

  15. Tbh, Winnie, these kinds of conversations take place all over Thailand. And yes, its sad that your 4 year old is discussing this so matter of factly. In a way, it reminds me of a conversation with my cook's daughter last year, "What color do you wear in America?" She asked me when I was packing to go visit my family. I told her we wore whatever color we wanted. She seemed ok with the idea but a tad perplexed. Thailand is a different kettle of fish compared to our home countries and kids here grow up so much faster in some ways and yet in other ways are still allowed their childhood.

Not quite correct as RED or Blue can get you killed in Compton LA or any other Gang controlled area in fact in the USA its even more dangerous than Thailand in what colors you wear in certain areas.

  16. "The army chief expressed his opinion that the extension of emergency rule would be in the best interest of Thailand and its economy.

Anupong pointed to unabated violent incidents and dissent as his reasoning."

Apart from the south which has been an ongoing problem for years what are the other "unabated violent incidents"?

Im sure they can make some up to warrant the extension

  17. I'm about to go to Vientiane tomorrow for a thai visa run and just noticed on a site that I need a visa to go to Laos. Is this right? Can I not get one at the border when I cross?? I have an Australian and UK passport. Thanks

    Hi Mark.

If you get your VOA (Visa on arrival) at the border in Nong Khai, it will cost $35 (US) - Dont use an agent (there's no need - they just add on extra money) THIS IS FOR A UK PASSPORT - NOT SURE ABOUT AUSTRALIAN.

However. get your $35 before you go, as if you exchange at a bank in BKK $35 is about 1200bt. If you pay at the border the exchange rate is bad, and they will charge you 1500bt. Also make sure you have a few photos before you go.

    Good luck :)

So if I pay in Baht it is always converted to US$35??

No its either $35 USD or 1500 baht so better to pay the $35 in USD which works out cheaper.

  18. Reconciliation brings back the nonviolent red-shirts into the political process. To me, the instigators and participants of the burning of Bangkok and elsewhere and the killings and wounding of many can rot in jail forever or better yet... get the death penalty. The only thing that is stupid is your title for this thread and I think you or the mods should amend it to eliminate your distortion of the facts.

Did you watch the interview ?/ if not you cant comment the title is true in my opinion of which I have a right too no matter if I am in a minority on here

  19. The PM locked up the opposition because they ruined much of the economy and burned down a good number of buildings. He is totally justified to protect the country from criminals.

Well thankfully those outside of Thailand that actually see the things I see, cant be brain washed and blinded like most of you guys, and the BBC and CNN reported what they saw only (which I happened to see also) only to be told they were not reporting fairly on what they saw ,but it was clear to any lay person that innocents were being shot on both sides and neither side were free from Atrocities.

The truth is the protests were crushed by the military with large loss of life nothing has changed in the minds of those that were protesting except the fact that they have been surpressed into submission and now there is a farce that there is a so called reconciliation plan but with all the opposition sitting in Jail and not one of the innocent unarmed protesters that were killed nobody has been bought to justice for there killing.

    how soon you forget.

    Its a joke

  20. You get NO CREDABILITY when its clear there is one rule for one and another rule for the other and your spouting the law applies to everyone the same when it clearly does not.

This is the problem with the rift and nothing has changed all that has happened now is the protesters have been crushed and pushed underground where they will continue to fester until they act again.

I would venture to suggest that Khun Abhisit looked a lot less stupid than you are now being.

Well thats my opinion, and most of TV members refuse to see whats under there noses and you can bash me all you like in one other instance I was bashed also however proven RIGHT yet again with regard to Interpol arresting Mr T on Terrorism charges, I said would never happen as they were trumped up political charges and Interpol wont touch it with a barge pole. I got bashed for that comment good and proper

I was told oh they have not filed yet as soon as they do he will be arrested immediately and sent back to Thailand well it has not happened has it because the REAL WORLD sees how it really is.
