We are looking at this too much through our own lens. Stated reason for TM30 was "Temple bells affair" and Iranian terrorists. Actually Imm were embarrassed about not being able to locate Interpol arrest requests and tourists when they hadn't posted on facebook for 2 days and people back home assumed they must have been murdered. Thais are asking how is it that all these foreign criminals are operating in Thailand and how does Imm permit these people?- in particular romance scammers and conmen - must get their goat to be romance scammed or conned.

You may be closer than you think - China has stated it doesn't want any Western influence in what it considers it's back yard. That definition of "Influence" includes Westerners living there. I have seen comments from Chinese to the effect that China regards itself as having "dominion" over all black haired Asian peoples - it is after all the "Middle Kingdom"

Nothing whatsoever, I don't have Elephantiasis, Leprosy or TB, not even Syphilis last time I checked, no criminal record and i could meet the financial requirements of he new long stay visas. I just don't want at best additional paperwork and lining up dates, at worst not being able to renew because I can't get a required document or get it in time. This could happen currently with TM30 and there goes your grandfathering on 800k, when it could be Bt3m for new applicants. Others see what I am getting at?

What happens when somebody's previous employer closes down. It is these situations where we can't provide what is asked that can be the problem, and the more they ask the more likely we fall through the cracks.situations. Imm have very precise requirements and are very pedantic about them being met - I am not sure I know of cases where they accept something else in lea of what the regulations stipulate.

It has always been that when I hand over the correct documents it is just a formality, All very well if your landlord supplies TM30 documents, without which you can't extend your visa. All very well if you can match insurance dates with your OA visa dates - the risk is we get hit with a curve ball that is difficult to comply with. What if your Landlord dies and can't provide TM30 docs when you are asked to update TM30 by immigration?

No it should not. If you want to subjugate yourself to the onerous OA requirement go ahead, but many of us are quite happy getting an O extension and avoiding the requirements. Why get this visa? Extra requirements for no benefit other than 1 year on entry and then you STILL have the requirements for each subsequent year renewal.. https://www.mfa.go.th/en/page/non-immigrant-visa-o-a?menu=5e1ff71bc4281a00c812e8e2

I thought you were going to say: '....by which time I had been convicted for a criminal offence. All those howling for the criminal record check take note - you will have to line the dates up and it will be within a timeframe set by IB which may bear no relation to the time needed to get it from your home country. just stop wishing for things to be made harder. It is far more likely to backfire on you then get rid of the "trash".

Where is this "copies of your home bank statement showing your income " requirement applied putativelydiscussed? I also think it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they demand "source of funds" similar to AMLO requirements to prove that they are (supposedly) not ill gotten gains and thus (supposedly) eliminate criminals applications. I seem to have read on these boards that some provincial Immigration Offices require evidence of source of the 65k. They could accept only Government and large company pensions as some S American countries do.

What about the criminals who come in on a VE/VOA and stay long term by overstaying? They are after all criminals, so they can't be relied on to follow the law. That is what fake stamps are about - they are not in the computer but they will stand an on the street inspection by ordinary RTP - maybe even IB as they seem not to be able to access their own data via the internet when out and about.

I think that is pretty much the same thing as "cancelled". People who use agents are not affected. It is those of us who do it ourselves above board who get inconvenienced. Perhaps they want us to pay to avoid this. I have no desire to be subjected to the onerous requirements of the OA and don't understand why anyone would while the much simpler O extension is available - no aligning insurance cover dates with extension dates etc.
-
So what visa are you on that you want everybody else's cancelled and everyone subjected to onerous requirements? All these people demanding stricter visa requirements without thinking the rising tide will reach them because they are the "good" farangs. Again, , all these people who think the rules should be tightened to keep out others - General Prem isn't looking down from the heavens on you thinking, ahh yes, this is the type of good falang who are welcome in Thailand. The Thai elite are really actually only interested in the type of Foreigner they would like to be photographed with, or who they think can arrange a prestigious school or university place for their children with a quiet word on their behalf.

So that makes them deadbeats? Everyone below your financial level is a "deadbeat"? Take care that they don't up things to the level where you are a "deadbeat", despite your vast wealth. I assume you have no problem with Bt3m in a Thai bank, coz my guess is that is what is coming - or the monthly income requirements/$500k/$250k investment of the LTR visas. I could, but don't want to put $250k or even Bt3m in a Thai bank and some don't want to put Bt400k in a Thai bank.
