  1. I could have written the same OP but I suspect it is further out. Need to gather info/line up my ducks in advance regarding the logistics of dying in Thailand. Anybody have any information on agencies or whatever for hiring caretakers (central BKK)?
  2. I have always used day before and SCB no longer has a branch there. I have always understood passbook must be updated ON THE DAY and confirming bank letter day before OK
  3. I just paid 180,000 Bt for two operations and a total of 16 days in a Govt hospital. About Bt60,000 in outpatients between. My original intention was to buy disaster insurance with 1st Bt300k or so payable by me - in the end I paid cash without insurance. Viable as that looks, the risk you have to look at is long stay - costs mount up and the risk is non renewal/increases by Insurance company. The big question is will your disaster insurance cover you for a disaster like needing to stay in hospital indefinitely? A private hospital like Bumrungrad will cost you Bt8000/day min for just the bed vs 900/1800 min for govt hospital.
  4. What happens with health Insurance if you become a long term inpatient - presumably it has to be renewed every year and they could up the premium or flat refuse cover?
  5. One more: Any hidden "gotchas" with having old passport invalidated by corner cut off while stamps not yet transferred to new. e.g. a hospital admission might be difficult if I can't make admissions staff accept valid visa old passport but ID is now new passport. Same with doing things at banks - like get account balance letter for extension.
  6. Additional question: Presumably I can do my 90 day report due online within the period between pick up new passport and transfer stamps without falling foul of any regulations? Don't want a situation where the IO looks at my New passport issuance date and a 90 day report date after that on old passport number and says makes 80 day on old PP invalid - a missed 90 day also triggers the requirement for a new TM30. Vital I line my ducks up as any problems especially having to leave the country and re enter are serious problems right now.
  7. I have 30 days only to pick up my passport I know, but I need to know there isn't some immigration rule like "must transfer stamps within 7 days of new passport issued" or do I have until old passport expires. Right now it is difficult for me to leave the house for long periods but it makes sense to pick up new passport well within 30 day limit - I just need to know I don't activate a "within X days clause" as I am not up to a trip to CW right now.
  8. Joe, by this do you mean that if you renew your passport in Thailand (BKK) and complete the visa transfer paperwork with Immigration, that the system will seamlessly accept the new passport number inputted when you report online with the new system?
  9. They have moved from a near seamless bank transfer option to requiring you to upload a screenshot of your payment. Goodbye Shopee.
  10. May be run of the mill constipation, but if you are saying you have not been able to pass stools properly for several days then I suggest you consider going to an emergency room as you may have a blocked intestine. I had this problem - it wasn't like normal constipation where you are straining to pass it, I felt I needed to go but there was nothing to try and push out, I was abdominally bloated with my intestines churning and churning and only passing thin ribbon like stools for days then nothing for 2 days - it was a blocked intestine - I went to the ER in the morning and they operated in the evening. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=blocked+intestine I used an Australian healthcare provider symptom diagnosis checker (which I now can't find again to post here, unfortunately) and it indicated I needed to go to an ER.
  11. The whole internet is <deleted> off about that, not just you.
  12. So was the one in my phone, but English wasn't one of them.
  13. I am sure that is the case - it was an ex display or somesuch - but that still doesn't explain a multitude of languages in the android settings menu but English not being one of them, no?
  14. Thanks for that - mine came with Thai installed and no request for wi fi access. The bizzarre thing is that the menu had a multitude of languages - far more than just Asian languages, but no English. Maybe some attempt to stop grey market imports of a SE Asian model to other markets?
  15. There is really no point in trying to be helpful on this board as if your experience differs from someone else's the insinuation is you must be making it up . Seriously, I give up on this place. I would have thought that the post explaining that some models are now made only for SE Asia might explain it. I already pointed out that an older model did not have this issue. I tried to do it but couldn't, so I gave it to a bilingual Thai who went into the menu and found that English was not there as an option - she then gave it to a colleague who she said was good with these things and the first time only some things were in English - I handed it back to her and after a while she was able to find out how to put everything in English. I could take a photo of the startup screen of a new Samsung TV with only Asian language options but I would probably be accused of photoshopping it. I repeat I get so sick of posting my experience and someone coming in and saying that they have never had that problem well GOLLY GOSH that might be your experience and by all means share your experience but if others have a different experience they are maybe not making it up/lying. I'm outta here. First time I posted in WEEKS coz I have stopped coming here because of certain "types".
  16. Well it wasn't on the one I bought which is why I posted what I did. It wasn't an issue on a previous model. Maybe yours weren't made specifically for SE Asia as some seem to be now - TV's too it seems.
  17. A word of caution on Asian models - getting it into English isn't via the normal menu selection - in the end I had to hand it over to someone decades my junior and it took her a while to switch it to English - it is there but not readily available. Same with Samsung TV just bought - only Asian languages on startup - with this one don't know if English is even there somewhere.
  18. I've learned more in this thread than in my entire mobile buying career.
  19. For me: Because with iphones processing is limited to what chip is in the phone whereas with andrioid you access the processing power of Google's servers.
  20. I had a J1 6 and similar criteria for next one. I went with the Samsung A21 which I picked up as ex display or somesuch (has box) for ฿4,450 on Shoppee a couple of months ago. Just checked - there are 38 still left- would link for you but that is probably not allowed. Big 5 something fast charging battery and 128MB storage. stayed with Samsung coz of file transfer software. I bought the J1 6 coz it was small and am finding the A21 big and heavy but they are all about this size - what nobody makes is small and hi spec?
