I don't think they care/will miss us. The retirement extension seems to be an unwanted legacy of the 1979 act. At the time rental properties were empty with the departure of the US forces support staff here (US had 50,000 people here). I think there was the assumption that retirees would employ a cook, a maid. a housekeeper, a driver and maybe a gardener.

Fair comment. 800k to 3m in one big jump would be extreme and have fallout. What if they renewed existing 800k extensions but required any new applicants to apply for the new rich retiree visa?

They have set the precedent of changing the financial requirements without grandfathering - specifically 400k year 'round. We may find that they put the amount up to THB 3m without grandfathering. I actually expect it. THB 3m seems to be the new hurdle judging by the requirements for a couple of newer visa types. I just don't think Thailand sees enough value in retirees who can't afford to live in their own country coming here. Changing the terms of an already issued Elite is a much more serious thing - a de facto breach of contract.

Somebody answered a thread on the subject of TM30 filed as possessor by saying he had been able to do this on more than one occasion. They prefer Lease, Owner ID and housebook.

Looks like that is what is happening to my original Non O visa - extended based on retirement. NON "B" for work also when I worked here and extended every year. It seems they are focusing on TM30 now for annual extensions - if not asked that is because a TM47 which you must provide requires a TM30 to have been filed. There are always those who say they never get asked for one or the other or both - I was not asked for Tm30 but I provided a TM47. I had to provide TM30 docs for transfer stamps to new passport and 90 day report.

Immigration made extension of visa dependent on the TM30 - basically making it our problem not the property owners if a TM30 was not filed as it should have been.* That is just so warped. I would hardly call it "International Standard". Why don't they go after the non filing landlords - TM30 was brought back because the Iranian bombers stayed somewhere that did not report - how does penalising the law abiding visa holder protect against that? *yes, I know CW will let you file as "Possessor" with lease and utility bill, but not all offices do.

It seems the thing you really want to insure against, a protracted hospital stay, is difficult to insure against.

There have been internal bust of low level people freelancing - the airport stamps is an example. The only one I can remember where they were fired and I think prosecuted was the Malaysian border stamps racket in the early 2000's - 2005?. What happened here was that a terrorist wanted by the US - Habibe or something was found to have used this "service". I believe there was pressure/coercion from the US that forced the hand of the authorities. A number of IO's were fired - whether or not they were acting within the system is not certain, but they were using stamps that were not signed out to them on the date of the stamp. The "service" seemed not to have been reinstated. Everybody used The Wall as their agent for this.

If you mean TM30 I would guess that agents are using the same address for multiple visa holders. You would be paying for address rental/facilitation of your upcountry visa when you live in BKK/Pattaya. You may have problems - this may be why the TM30 is under so much scrutiny, and proving the address exists and you really live there is required.

This is now happening if you want to do anything at CW (certainly "L" section, don't know for sure about others).

Worse than that I am not sure it even does anything [much] - at least not enough to offset the damage it does you. If I had known then what I know now I would have avoided it or stopped after 4 sessions before the accumulation damage starts- no difference in effect according to some research.

As a general rule IO's don't second guess what another IO signed off on if the stamps and signatures are correct and it is in the system. They probably know what went down, but they know there are two tracks.

If you have a current lease and proof of utility bill payment you may be able to do it as per this thread. Landlord/owner dying and delay in transfer to new owner leaves you in limbo. Not sure how you can file other than as described.

My Oncologist is a lovely caring lady, but my Thai is not good enough and I need to ask some very direct questions of a specialist WRT continuing with Chemo or stopping, or at least stopping Oxaliplatin. Looking for a recommendation for a Bangkok located, native speaker level English, and graduate overseas*. Actual Thai Nationality is fine. *The key point here is not "better" or not, but same wavelength - when I talk with a US qualified friend we know what we are getting at as we come at things from the same angle. Same with UK graduated Thai surgeon.

I had one of these at Chula after surgery but I get the impression they have very few of them. Second surgery was call nurse.

I would guess 400 agent obtained visa holders got a call from Immigration asking them to come in for a chat. It will be interesting to see if they are proceeded against.
