    Didn't realise these were roadside inspection stamps not travelling stamps. As an aside, I cant help but think it would have made for a better photo if the IOs standing brhind were pointing at the detainee in front of them.

    The fact that Thailand has not created a visa for these people is telling. There is no 'hang out in reggar themed bars in Chiangmai wearing elephant pants' long stay visa.

    Yes but they are all digital nomads making enough from blogging to pay for an elite visa - or more likely they have not researched the visa situation, extrapolating how easy it is to stay short term to the long term.

    Thailand never used to be this prudish (although it has always been conservative). Perhaps 'outrage farming' on social media is making it more of a thing.

    Surely they would be enthralled by traditional handicrafts demonstration put on in villages in the middle of nowhere?

    I understand [from a newspaper article by a Tax Professor] they can go back as far as 10 years if no filings, and that limit is the law having a statuette of limitations of 10 years. Google: 'how long can a tax man go back in time to assess you' and the name of a well known Bangkok based newspaper.

    If you require treatment for a long time and that crosses your renewal date presumably they can up the premium or drop you. If so, totally unsuitable for debilitating illness which is what you need to insure for.
