  1. Forgive the 'off-topic' but anyone else hear about the 'farang' who jumped, intentionally, to his death? Camera-phone footage was on the Television news yesterday apparently?

I saw that on the news last night. - it happened at swampypoon about 10pm on wed

the newsreader said it was a 27 yr old Irishman who after a months holiday here did not have enough money to go home - that was all that I was able to catch.

  2. hi monty

thanks for the input - I would have thought there was more interest for these types of adapters

I have seen the CF to 3.5 inch IDE adapters and though they were probably quite slow.

just with many devices available from china - search alibaba - I would have expected a few to be on sale here in Thailand.

there are dual and triple adapters that also will allow RAID , so you can stripe to increase your data speed also.

this option to me would seem to be cheaper than a normal SSD

I have a few flash cards lying around now and it does add up to a bit of flash storage.

  3. don't expect too much as this is something in its infancy

  4. Fortunately it wasn't a Chinese style milk scam...this time.

I wonder if it was in the past and now the milk powder that has been imported is missing the melamine which has now exposed the sub standard protein levels during tests.

    I would not be surprised.

Who can put a name, face etc to this bunch of sleeze bags
Authorities at Chumphon province's Paklek School complained recently after noticing that pupils often threw their milk away. In a bid to boost children's development, the government provides an annual budget of around Bt12 billion (S$516mln) to serve free milk to school children.

Pongpan reported that the milk at Paklek School gathered for testing on Monday was from Namsichon Factory.

So far, 11 schools across the country have officially complained about their milk,
Interior Minister Chaovarat Chanweerakul summoned Local Administration Department director general Sukit Charoenratanakul for a discussion on the issue yesterday afternoon.

Sukit asked for seven days for a probe into the issue.

"I have already instructed relevant officials to find out what happened," he said.

He also criticised schools for failing to check the quality of milk before accepting the product.

"If they find that the milk is not of good quality, they should immediately notify the FDA or the Farming Promotion Organisation of Thailand," said Sukit.

  5. horrendous font and colour makes people less inclined to read

You have to remember the main cause of the recession was sub-prime loans.

I don't think the main cause was "sub prime house loans" - these were the first to be exposed because the people with them do not have recourse to any other fancy financial aid that would have allowed them to ponzi on for longer

Don't underestimate the brain power of the financial and economic experts in the USA. If their ingenuity and fancy financial products contributed to the current financial collapse they certainly are intelligent enough to devise financial remedies to get the country out of it.

the financial brain power manufactured paper credit via leverage on overpriced assets and then this credit was used to purchase ipods made in China - the Chinese are not going to buy the ipods back.

Look for signs of the recovery to start in late summer or early fall. As more newer and more efficient industries emerge, hiring will increase, credit will be restored and the housing industry will recover since housing will be needed for those who lost homes due to subprime loans.

the only way the USA will recover is by learning to be less flamboyant and learn to live within their means - no more paying 5 dollars for a 50 cent cup of coffee at starbucks.

the Chinese will be hoping they are able to get some of the money owned to them , they will be rational enough to realise that they will not get every cent in the dollar.

the real possibility is if the American massed throw the toys out of the pram because they think they deserve that hollywood inspired lifestyle.

the basic servant jobs dry up

there will be massive unemployment in the USA as the basic servant jobs dry up - real education will have to come back so they can work in the industries that the US still has

this will not be over for a few years yet.

  6. Here we go, they now want to empty the civil service pension schemes to build schools.

not to worry - pension schemes were invested in places like iceland and with maldoff and stanford :o

this is when I would expect the real wailing and gnashing of teeth to start - when the reality about pension schemes , retirement finally dawns on your average person.

  7. she is also going to be in complete shock when no one looks at her as a "hotty".... she is tooo ummm big bonned to be considered a hotty next to all those ummmm not so big bonned thai women....

but she says most of them have Aids ?

vacuous tard should stay in sidenee.

  8. apparently, there is a huge sucking sound of a big player amassing dollars.

if i had to guess -

eastern europe BUT more probably switzerland on the brink of bankruptcy thanks to a bad bank - would u have thought this even yesterday?

u can try and find some news on it as it is kinda big news right now!

The idea that any available money will be buying US debt issuance which will mean other nations will not be able to raise capital is an interesting one.

also one of the comments left at the end of the blog accusing the IMF of propping up a country ( Latvia ) so the banks and elites could move their money out at favourable exchange rates.

and another 50 billion dollar scam has surfaced in the americas

US authorities are scrambling to find $50 billion of assets connected to Allen Stanford, the missing Texan cricket impresario, as the fallout from his alleged fraud ripples across the world.

Mr Stanford boasted of having customers in 140 countries. Panicked investors in the Caribbean and Latin America rushed on banks to withdraw their savings from institutions linked to his financial empire. Many left empty-handed.

and this statement does not auger well

The FBI is convinced that the two huge frauds are just the tip of the iceberg. John Pistole, the Deputy Director of the FBI, told politicians on Capitol Hill last week that the agency was investigating 530 corporate fraud cases, including 38 directly related to the current economic crisis.
