  1. 3 ships down at sattahip, amphibious landing craft ship. 2 tied up 1 out to sea, leaving 17th returning 18th for 2 nights, coincidedtly at sea for budda day and night.

how much cash is being chucked away for that night.

    that was 2 days ago

  2. Hi due to wifes in ability to take 1 pill a day i want to have the chop, i would like to know has anybody had it done in Thailand, how was it done, what was the cost, afterwards was all ok. i live chon buri so Pattaya/Bangkok ideal for me.

    any experiences

    thanks

  3. :cheesy: :cheesy: Cheers for the injection of humour.

Can anyone highlght something that hasn't already been said on this thread?

    OK I'll start.....Pattaya is a sh*thole.

    All constructive comments welcome.

Friday 13th hmm no need for lucky white Heather here lol.....:whistling:

agreed, whats Pattaya got to do with a thread about Samui not making top 25, doubt Pattaya did either mind, having said that, beaches??? are cleaned everyday all day, and you can access the beach from the beach road. the roads do have central reservations with flowers, trees, grass etc. roads clean and pot hole free, but diffo not top 25.

anyway best stay on topic of Samui, maybe start with drainage constuctive, think this was honey bar not so long ago. its what happens when trees on mountains are replaced with concrete, sand goes into darins and blocks them. still there was access to the sea that day without having to go through a resort

actually Pattaya did make it into the top 25 !:(

then it is a farce, has to be about the worst resort apart from one thing, can never work out why 100,000s koreans, chinese, etc go there,, few thousand american marines there now, wondered why they going out to sea for 2 days then coming back, missing the night of the 17th obviously they were aware it was going to be a dry day so get all the boys on ship and take em away for the night.

one person desperate to come back Is old eye 90 owner who is in Surrat, rang me 2 nights ago, she is working in a kitchen hotel, what a waste of talent. now the eye 90 reopening i woul;d be back for a visit.

  4. ..... my mates still stranded...... tsunami recently ..... fault plates ....... risk of oil spills .....

The only thing you missed out is that today is Friday the thirteenth.

    We're all doomed ....... farewell cruel world.

come on the floods i did miss out the floods, dont get carried away, never mentioned BA.or the electric, or the crime,or the taxi meter, dont want to paint to black a picture just pointing out to Big C Samui is not immune from such things, world end is not until 2012,

  6. out of interest, had I not invested into Samui, I would be looking to get the <deleted> out of here

thing is where is a good alternative, I like Bangkok but don't want to live in a city, I like Phuket but not sure it's actually to busy for me, any suggestion?

people whine and moan about samui but we all come back. this might be as good as it gets. spend a couple of weks months years in london then u'll find samui one of the best places on this earth.

it has its faults but i has character. Infact what would we complain about if they fixed everything. we would not know what to do. the forum would be empty.

As for phuket it is just one thai to work for forang provence. yes u can get everything there and there are allot od malls and this and that but it is not much cheaper plus a bit of beach land would probably be the worst investment ever.

there are some new units well new in the fact that noone has moved into them yet but they have been there for about 2 years. unsold on the beach front in patong.

i mean who wants to buyt a house in a tsuami zone.

hotel . ok because u r turning money over every ight but units for offices or houses.

also there r more police in phuket and lady boys which is no for me

less of the WE there big c, i and others i know will never ever go back, most of my mates still stranded there want out. you maybe not aware but there was a tsunami recently on the Samui side of the big sea. there are fault plates in the pacific region therfore Samui. then there the risk of oil spills who wants to buy a house in area to have development of offshore oil wells?

so no police good, beach road at night littered with ladyboys, as is green mango area

Crickey, i've admitted i'm not happy here but i did'nt know it was that bad :ermm::o

just needed to point out to Big C people dont come back, tsunamis can happen in Samui, as could a mojor oil spill, most of the the above could happen anywhere, just did not want people thinking there was some space technologgy up there that made samui special, well Big C anyway.:-)

  7. last time i was there, about 5 years ago i thought it was strange very few public access roads to the main beach

every one walked through the various bungalows and resorts etc to get to the beach

i thought it would only be a matter of time before the owners stop public access or start to charge for it

    has it happened yet?

    Nope.

true you can get onto the beach at almost any point in Nathon beach road, and i think one place in Thung Krut

luckily i rented and after 9 years made the move, now live 8 km east of pattaya, absolutly great, small village, at least 30% cheaper lakes and mountains all around, BKK airport 1 hour away ot 129 baht on non stop air con bus. coast down towards rayong beat Samui hands down, navy owned NO development.

Mabparachan area luvin it should have done it years ago, mile after mile of beach road, mile after mile of good tarmac roads.

  10. i have been looking at google eath going down the coast noting cordinates and logging tehm into gps, must check them out one day, few nice ones but as soon as zoom out a bit see naval buildings halipads so i guess that would be a no no.

anybody know the name of the one just past the airport u tao pau, past the fuel dump and turn left. 20 baht looked good to me, interested to know name

  11. still time i send many parcels mainly UK and USA sometimes 2 weeks, few holidays recently, did they have cn 22 decleration? never out of over 100 parcels in last 9 months had one go astray. touch wood.

just used fed ex, expnsive but tracking was super, even got e mail the minute customer signed for package

  12. people are people thai or farang, my previous landlord was thai, returned deposit and gave me some money for the extras i had added to the house.

present landlord is farang, no deposit no contract, i treat all properties as if i owned them, but a lot of ass oles out there tenant and landlord wise. as a teneant i would not pay more than 1 month up front as a deposit, i guess as a landlord i would want a couple of months.

  13. I can't see a way that will allow you to keep your options open to freely move from the UK to Thailand and vice versa.

Unless you keep applying for a tourist visa for your wife and a non-o multi for you.

Also it won't be easy to keep moving around with your newborn baby.

I think you need to make a decision on where your going to base your life, UK or Thailand,

and then go for the appropriate visas

either for you, or your wife and newborn.

ILR does allow freedom to move around. dont see problem baby being here 6 months there 6 months untill school comes along but thats few years away yet.

  14. maybe they would grant ILR based on time together and your wish to return to UK to reamain!!!

my wife has ILR great no visa's got join unmarried partner visa, had to show proof of 2 years cohabitation here and there. not sure how that would fit with you being married here, would they know you were married here?

as for the pregnancy personally unless asked i would not volunteer the information. we used to be always 6 months here and 6 months there, now its just a holiday to UK and ILR gets her in, no hassle with visa's

i used to ask what is border agency questions by e mail always found them usufull and accurate, others differ an that opinion.always kept replies. saved a refused boarding once where Thai check in said she could not travel on one way ticket, showed home office e mail, waited the allowed to travel after i signned declaration to pay return if a problem.

you do intend to remain in UK full time dont you!

  15. Abhisit said on Thai tv tonight he would like to thank the people who put him the position he's in. guess that would be the army then.

    reds win = coup

yellows win = stuff hits the fan. same old same old. expect this thread to thrive.

Pattaya is clearly a red area as workers come from NE, how many will make it back to vote, not many.

if i were a betting man i would expect Mr Abhisit in the chair for the next goverment, of course strings attached straight to Suthep, Thailands real leader.

  16. depends how many beers i lived there for long time and would say easily yes if not including room, drinking its a case of how much and what, and where. basic bar, go go, night club, Q bar if still open massive differences in prices. snorkelling well IMHO Samui not good. trip to Koh Tao worth it.

3k should be more than enough if you intend to be alone.

  17. Thanks for the info. Do you reckon 2/3k is enough per day for meals, plus a few drinks in the evening? I plan to do some snorkeling there but not every day.

stopped going in the sea years ago, never figured out where all the waste went, and had to many encounters with floaters. viz not to good either, but divers will know best

  18. beg to differ but until your current visa runs out, ie visa runs out 30th June example letter runs out 30th June. never had a problem using a letter at anytime if visa is valid. going tomorrow, again will probably get 2 just in case i need another 1 before July 6th when visa runs out. still TIT so maybe all statements are correct but thats what the lady sergant in the office told me a few weeks ago. might take her a few happy pills tomorrow see if she does ever smile.

  19. you will need sellor to change name, what province is it from, visits to immigation, landlord sign blue book. long long job, is sellor available.

be prepared for alot of hassle, maybe 2-3 visit to chon buri, my third visit on tuesday and thats from wife name to mine, non chon buri number.

  20. i always go stay somewhere for a week in hotel and look around, try classified here, friends ship, carrfore, foodland notice boards, classifieds in local newspapers. sure some people here reading have 1. friend of mine has 5 in Jontiem 4 empty, loads of them. commison comes out the rent you higher rent. personally i would not sign into a long contract or pay a large deposit, you may want to move quickly or find somewhere you prefer. never had appartment but houses, water and electric supply and costs always a good one to ask, some landlords charge double for electric.

    renters market at the moment

deposit i again would not pay more than 1 month some want 2-3 months.

really no need to use an agent at all, bottom line is you pay as landlord has to increase rental to cover.
