  1. welcome to the club, ais dongle supposed to be ok here not working, been to 3bb, 3 times now finally got line in today but have to wait 3 days for connection. i will not hold my breath. TOT TTT all full here true were a waste of time. all they do is have prity girls behind the counter who are sui mak mak but do not have a clue about what they are selling. good luck. i went to true all sat there eating told me gin cow come back later, how proffesinal. make them gin cow at differnt times and ban mobile phones from the work place and they might get some where.

  2. i know a lot of Brits here use Nationwide as they do not charge for over seas withdrawls, just been on website offer ends soon change DD from another bank and they give you £75. just done mine and wife. maybe worth looking at. hope this is right forum as i thought more people might see it here. all done on line easy. big difference to here i went to BKK bank today to open new account cannot we not have atm card wait one week have new one come from factory (no thanks) siam bank yes but have to pay 700 baht for atm card (no thanks)

  3. the old airport was prity, the new is geared soley to extract money. the carts to take you from check into departure lounge never seem to run, of course not because then you have to walk past all those shops in the heat. then sit around in non air con getting ready for that 20 hour trip home, i hate it, i dont want to start a long trip covered in sweat. yet another reason to give Samui a miss

  4. i would advise anybody on Samui if not happy, move you will be amazed how much better it is off the island and about a third of the price. Baht bus Pattaya 10 baht, jontiem to pattaya 30 baht. taxi pattaya to bkk airport 800 baht, nice air con bus 120 baht. best thing i ever did was to move away wish i had done it years ago. i live in country side out of the madness but every thing only 15 mins away

  5. Methinks Aussichick is talking about the Affirmation of Marriage papers that can only be obtained beforehand from the persons embassy.

MrSaliva is talking about registering the marriage which can of course be done here in Pattaya at Banglamung office.

Believe both posters are correct in what they are saying.

That's right Rimmer - but you can't register the marriage at the District Office anywhere without the paperwork being done first

that is also correct an d moreover, marriages in the district office need to be endorsedby the Ministryof Foreign Affaris whereas marriages at Bangrak for whatever reason do not need that.

dont understand this we walked in said we want to get married, passports, affirmation to marry, ask are you legal to marry yes. print stamp stamp and out. nothing about BKK came into it at all

  6. Patrik - are you doing the whole marriage thing here? The Thai registration and all the paperwork will have to be done in Bangkok. You can then register your marriage at the local District Office on the day you wish to get married and have a wedding ceremony on the beach with a pastor doing the ceremony.

Send me a PM and I can give you all the details and costings on what you need to do.

is there some new law about paperwork will have to be done in Bangkok. we were in and out in 15 mins and she got her ID card changed to my name. all in Samui

  7. not sure if this guy can help he moved me from Samui to Pattaya 7500 baht and stored for 3 days. within hour of getting he we rang him and the stuff was delivered. he delivers fans to Tesco stores and comes back to patters empty so he wants back loads hence so cheap but give him a try. 0843622388. wrap stuff well as we had a few scratches. there are professional movers if you seach google who pack, room label boxes and unpack but they wanted 55000 baht. furniture not worth that

forgot to add he has big six wheeler which they sheet down really well, they usually carry stuff in cardboard so it has to be water tight with high sides.

  8. I am on a cheaper home package with 4m download, it does slow down late afternoon/early evening but not too bad however upload speeds are pathetic, best I see is about 0.3 during quiet times and as slow 0.02 during afternoon/evening peak hours.

My Neighbour had the Tmax (now 3BB) Indy 4Mb service (799 Baht + tax) and I have upgraded to the Premier 2Mb service - 1160 Baht or so.

We did a test on speedtext.net to London, and I was getting twice the speeds, up and down, that he was. This was done mid afternoon.

I was told, so needs confirmation, that Indy share the line with 30-50 users, whereas Premier shares with only 10. These are both Home Packages. (The Commercial packages for offices and Internet cafes are a much higher cost. )

You get what you pay for here, just like anywhere in the world.

I moved from CAT to 3bb a few weeks ago. I am extremely happy with it, by comparison. I don't have the patience for very slow download speeds or frequent outages. both of which I got from CAT ... for a monthly fee of nearly 2000 baht!

I have the "Premier International" service from 3bb, which, as quoted above, is about 1160 baht. I'm getting consistent (by Thai standards) download speed of well over 2 mb. I do get occasional "breaks", when it goes out for a minute or less. But I've had only one extensive outage. That was when the Chonburi server went out, and (I believe) all services here were out from about 4 PM to about 9 PM.

Bottom line is that I strongly recommend the 3bb Premier International service for folks like me, who use the internet fairly often for international communication, including live streaming of sports and other TV shows. If 1160 baht isn't beyond your budget, go for it!

i am afraid she was badly informed or a liar hoping for higher commision she stated yesterday. and today in Thai and English you want to look site outside country you have to buy preimium package this one for in side Thailand only. furtunatly today i guy came up with in thai package wife ask you get outside country, yes every where. liar liar pants on fire same as AIS dongle work in your area 100% buy the dongle and it dont work. same garbbage form call centre coming soon. getting really cheesed of with their lies. guy in hutch said not work good in your area only 40-120 not buy. in hindsight i should have took it.

  9. have to make a decision today on 3bb internet, they have line available, girl in shop asked us to measure its below 350 from the box no problem. she then explanied the plan basicall i think it started at 570 for 512 download which i guess is shared between others but i can live with 50. been on AIS 0-10 speed and down alot. anyway girl went onto explain this price for look site in Thailand only you want to look outside country price double she having a laugh or is this true. what speeds people on dark side getting on this. already spentover 4000 baht on ais dongle which is now for sale, does not work darkside. all i get from shop and call centre coming soon. so why sell it. guy in Hutch was honest he said not good ober there on 40-120. i would be happy at that but dont want another dongle have 2 locked ones already. as always and suggestions welcome. searched site b4 posting could not relevant posts. is it really double to use sites out side Thailand

  10. If there is damage to a Jet Ski the person renting the Jet Ski may end up at the Police Station (if he is not paying). If he refuses Police may keep his Passport till the case is settled (Money paid). The way the OP was explaining may work in his home country, but not in Thailand and not if you are a Tourist.

Dont rent a Jet Ski is the best advice, if you still have to do it, then take some pictures of the Jet Ski.

also check below water line as in lift it up, thats where the so called damage is usually found. once you signed the contract to say in jet ski ok you really dont have a prayer.. i think if going to get money from atm or hotel is the answer the jet ski guy will call the police for you.

  11. went to local market yesterday to enquire about pepper spray for the wife to carry as been a few attacks recently. guy on the stall who had every thing in that way said come back in 2 days have more, container coming from china into port near pattaya, red shirts want it he said for big fight so somebody some where thinks theres going to be violence, he certaily did.

  12. I've looked and looked and no can find anywhere.

That's the 5 blade design used in the Powered handle and I have found only a Mach 3 Turbo.

Thailand is just not ready for the 5 blade. I can only figure that's it's because Thai (Asian) men don't grow hair very fast and don't need the super razors.

I could never find them in Taiwan either.

I'm sure Gillette would market the Fusion if they thought enough would buy it but it's expensive and not needed here as I said.

The Fusion 8 packs are always on my priority list for friends to bring me when they come to Thailand.

if i have problem like this i use e bay. postage will not be a lot and they will be cheaper than shops. i use american and aussie e bay as they tend to be cheaper than uk, probably less tax

  13. if u just need to cross the border and come back. u can go to Satun. or Murmar is closer.

there is another island in malaysia for get name something like Kala baru might be wrong on the name someone will know. they have an embassy there. they stopped giving out visas in penang. last time i went to Hong Kong to make mine. about 3500 rtn air asia from Bangkok. i did 3500 to HK then 1500 back to bangkok from Macau. Macau is defenatly worth a visit. hope that helps. though it is probably too late now

is it kota buri not sure. but herbert goes there my friend got 3 year non b there. not sure if they still do it ask herbert.

  14. Correction: Petitions with more than 100 signatures show that he was definitely not the only one.

why party girl not like to party. come on barbe lets go party

Well, like ibiza KPN is know to the world for a party island, so nobody that like to sleep will ever visit it (me too).

With all the logistic problem to move people there for parties i would have choosen the Donsak beach coast area, direct bus from bus station and surath thani airport.. :)

i do not think that Samui is gaining too much for hosting people for 2 days....

anyway it's too late, lake concrete on Samui, the paradise island is a concrete island and KPN is hel_l's island..... :D

each to their own. somebody must be enjoying it because u cannot have party with out people. lots of people. Unfortunatly forangs are visitors. no matter how long we have been here. we have no rights. or less then the Thai people but there again from thai peoples point of view. this is where they are born. forangs can always go home if they not like. i understand from both sides of the coin. so either learn to exept and don't bother to complain or move on. U chose to live on business Islands like Samui and koh Phangyan then you have to expect these sortes of problems. if u want a nice quite lace with sun and deserted beaches then u have Don Sak. Khanom.

or you can come to Pattaya where to date i have not heard anything like the things you hear in Samui. why dont they go in doors and make all the noise they want.

  15. i did a search on here for dentist somebody recommended pattaya clinic 100yds down from tukcom coming from sukumvit. only small having place. having 2 crowns done their fittings tomorrow, basic metal 5000 baht, gold 10000 baht. so far been exellent. one price list thai and english same.

same procedure in samui was 17000 for one.

  16. to the op i can only assume the kiwi owner wasnt in at the time, if he was i dont think this would of happened.

why would you want to get the authorities involved for something that could be sorted out easly with the owner ?

Wrong Kiwi owner makes the rules, his rule and i understand why, what i dont understand is why OP took good hearted Thai to a farang brothel. poor Thai guy i bet he could not wait to get out the place imagine a Thai taking a good hearted farang to a Thai owned brothel catering for Thai men. Authorities not involved

  17. You said you look after your teeth, so why so many trips to the dentist?

As many of us do, I go twice a year for a cleaning and check and that's one of the reasons my teeth stay in pretty good shape. If you're only going once every five years, like when you're finally in pain, then of course twice a year would seem like many to you. It's all relative, you see.

Banglamung in my experience will clean and check on one day and then if you need more work you'll need to come back on another day to see the specialist in the particular area. However, that's not uncommon in private clinics as well, because the dentist has another appointment following yours, or a different skill set from a specialist is needed.

But still cant see your reason for this thread.

Yawn. Then it can't possibly matter to you and you may remain in your current state of bliss. The intended audience for this thread understands the reason quite well.

great info just told misses she going for a clean as i will. no guilt i spend over million baht a year here a lot of that is tax.

  18. Thanks for your help with this. We made it to the island and are enjoying our second day. I got sun burned already.

Had a really nice dinner on the beach at Choeng Mon tonight.

That bus ride to Donsac is a killer. It was so <deleted>' hot on the bus you could hardly breath.

Do any of the other options shorten the bus ride?

Really enjoying the scenery and my stay so far. Only bad part is I brought my Isaan mother-in-law with me. Every time I buy food or spend money she says ... Peng Peng Peng. She'd have me living on 30 baht sausage and sticky rice if it were up to her. I wanted to treat her to a nice vacation but she doesn't seem to know how to vacation. hahahaha.

Well it beats 3 weeks in Mukdahan eh?

    Tony

try BKK airways early and late flight cheaper, check airlines out of surat, or try 2nd class sleeper train much better than the bus, but slower but at least you get a good kip

  19. i purchsed the programme for £8.50 downloaded it with unlock code. ran the programme put in thecode and get the open port failed message. deleted all other modems not sure what to do not to technical. tukcom have no idea how to do it yet,
