Could not have put it better myself.

"Thailand's development approach was inspired by His Majesty the King's sufficiency economy philosophy, which he said, had for decades successfully led our country on the path to all-inclusive and sustainable development."
Really, what can one say, apart from Long Live the King.

So a bent cop from Canada died in the Philippines 15 years ago, short of news day??

Somkid has some good points and there is a lot in Thailand that needs to be reformed. The Prime Minister is well aware of this. Contrary to the postings on ThaiVisa- he is a very intelligent man who listens to advisers in areas he is not an expert on..This is much the same in the Western World where Presidents and Prime Ministers' have scores of people to advise them on issues. The problem with the West right now is that they are way to focused on how he came to power and less on what he is going to do to change things which will ensure real Democracy in Thailand.. The General is not responsible for aviation and fishing problems; nor the lagging economy; poor education., ec. He was a military leader before his new job.He reluctantly took control because there was no alternative. The West seems to be able to give Egypt a pass when the military leader, who now is the Prime Minster, seized power from an elected government. It just so happened that government was associated with the Moslem Brotherhood- the enemy of the West. So that coup was all right but Thailand's coup was wrong? So much hypocrisy in Western foreign policy.
"He reluctantly took control because there was no alternative."
Other than an election of course which the wrong people would have won again!!
Also, he needs to get a new PR adviser, either that or not talk so much.

Seems like a very professional career diplomat and civil servant. Nice to see he involves his wife and talks about importance of families, something indicative of well balanced.
Hope the new British Ambassador is of similar apparent caliber. We need good strong involved Ambassadors.
Will the new British Ambassador's "wife" say Sawadee Ka or Sawadee Krap I wonder.
