  1. Poor girl, imagine going to work facing a bus load of Jimmy Saville's, Gary Glitter's and Harvey Weinstein's every day.
  2. If the OP were to fly, drive or take the train from Pattaya to Nong Khai to buy his glasses perhaps that is useful information.
  3. Thankfully one less idiot in the immigration office 4 times a year.
  4. I'm amazed you don't know how many police there are in Pattaya and Jomtien, you seem to be totally obsessed by them.
  5. Across the road, and you have shown a complete lack of common sense when it comes to commercial beach transactions Coconut Boy.
  6. Based on recommendation here I used Pattaya Optical on Central Pattaya Road recently for an eye test and new set of varifocals. Young lady speaks perfect English, all round efficient satisfactory service. Short walk across the road from Tops at the junction.
  7. https://www.pattayaselfstorage.co.th/ No personal experience but worth checking this place out, off Thappraya Road left hand side heading up the hill out of Pattaya to Jomtien before the traffic light intersection with Pratumnak.
  8. My internet and cable TV went off in Jomtien Tuesday night through Wednesday mid afternoon. Apparently it was reported on Thai TV that a few transformers blew up along Thepprasit Road, not sure if it was roadwork cabling related.
  9. So true, was on a KLM flight out here years ago and 3 guys got ridiculously drunk, abusive and unruly, insulting the hostesses, smoking in the toilet etc. As soon as the plane landed we were told to remain seated and the military clad Thai airport police came on and removed them in handcuffs, to much cheering and clapping from the rest of the passengers. ???? ???? Don't know if others remember this incident but here is a classic from the past, they were harassing and picking fights with anyone they could find as soon as they got to Pattaya. Word quickly spread on the street and they ended up getting a bit more than they bargained for. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/patrick-molloy-british-holidaymaker-drowns-1470823
  10. What kind of Western logic involves the expense and time of flying thousands of miles on holiday just to get into drunken knive fights at 1am ? Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just stay at home and do it ?
  11. Just taser them <deleted>. This is an ill advised public show of laughable ineptitude that probably stems from the head honcho seeing some other SWAT exercises in the country, and thinking he should get in on the act. If he really wants to make a difference get a couple of dozen of those desk jockeys permanently patrolling Buakow, Beach Road and Walking Street from 9pm to 2 am. If nothing else they could do with losing the weight.
  12. I don't think those prongs are sized right for the beer bellied Brits.
  13. Why do they need to practice on Jomtien Beach at mid-day ? Get themselves down to Walking Street for the real thing after midnight where drunken aggressive foreigners are already stabbing each other.
  14. You're right of course but is that the case in practice ?. I do seem to remember from the initial announcement of the updated app posted on here it specifically said that the first report after receiving a new passport had to be done in person. It would explain why the poster in question has had his application rejected. Only other thing I can think of is remembering to change the date his visa expires on the form, as he mentions just renewing his retirement visa I did mine yesterday and I always click the autofill but luckily remembered before submission to change the visa expiry date since I did my visa renewal last month.
  15. Ubonjoe can correct me if this is wrong but I'm pretty sure the first 90 day report after receipt of a new passport has to be done in person.
  16. In the moving stakes I'd classify stress inducing as being in a buying/selling chain with that uncertainty and legal process, packing up a house full of possessions to a new part of the country you're not 100% familiar with, and doing so with an accompanying family with the kids resettlement and education to think of. A single guy, renting a condo deciding to move a km or 2 down the road with worldly goods that can fit in a couple of pick up runs doesn't really cut it in my scale of stressful relocations. A couple of days minor inconvenience and reorganisation and you're sorted. If I move more than once in the next 20 years it will have been once too much. I'd like to see how this area changes/develops over the next decade before my potential one and only move. Perhaps another part of the country might look more appealing by then.
