Air force still wants new aircraft to replace its aging F-16 fighters
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I didn't bother to show them as for Singapore to attack Thailand they would either have to overfly or bypass Malaysia and would need in flight tanking both ways. -
Try to get your story correct. Actually we did not let the USA go its own way. There was a civil war over no taxation without representation during which us Brits lost badly and were kicked out of the USA. The US were in a similar position to Thailand under the Thai military and its coups. The US wanted to rule itself and so do the majority of Thais as is THEIR right. There are only a small number of rabid royalists in yellow shirts and about the same number in the military. There are far more free thinking Thais of all ages and they voted against the military parties and the rabid royalists.

Just take the guys who are killing their wives and children around the corner and execute them, and let it be known that this will happen to anyone rich or poor. At least the perps won't do it again and for those who argue, what about their rights, my answer is simple. Ask the victim about their rights to live and be with their families, children and friends and tell me what answers you get.

Not a verdict as I am not a court in the USA. Just my opinion, which carries the same weight as yours. -

2 x F35 are a waste of time, effort and money. They cost about $30k to fly for one hour, the ground servicing costs are huge. There are none and no plans to introduce a 2 seat trainer version . https://www.quora.com/Why-doesnt-the-F-35-have-a-two-seat-trainer-version-for-the-non-STOVL-versions quite "The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is a single-seat aircraft, and there are no plans to produce a two-seat trainer version of the non-STOVL (Short Take Off and Vertical Landing) versions. The reason for this is that the F-35 is designed to be operated by a single pilot, and a two-seat trainer would require significant modifications to the airframe, avionics, and systems. Additionally, the F-35 is intended to be flown by highly trained and experienced pilots, who are able to operate the aircraft effectively without the need for a two-seat trainer." With only 2 x F35 one will always be grounded and the other will be hogged by all the generals to say that they flew an F 35. Pilot and ground crew training will take up to 2 years and the cost of spares for 2 aircraft will most probably break the Thai bank budget, -
Well Mr De Santis, to do what you want, first you have to win the republican nomination and beat Trump, then you have to win the next presidential nomination and become POTUS. Then you will have to prove in court that all the convictions, including the guilty pleas were not coerced from those already doing jail time. Like your buddy, Trump, talk is cheap and meaningless unless backed up by positive action. Still go for it and destroy the GOP on your way. You will have some supporters even here on ANN.

quote "Come on say it as it is, no Thai woman has ever really wanted to be with a farang. You and thousands like you are just an ATM, now she's got the house, car & the rest I doubt she'll give a toss. I am telling it like it is. My wife had the house in 2004 and I still live in it. She also has the truck that we used to share because I don't drive any more. She does care and looks after me through my illness. She spends OUR money as I don't go out much anymore. But of course that doesn't matter or make sense to you anyway.

I truly hope that you improve quickly. I agree with you 100%, especially about the worn out old body. I must start carrying my DNR forms when I go to the hospital and to tell my wife that she HAS to tell the staff, no DNR. I am 79 and not going through a good patch in the last couple of weeks, but this week I feel that I am improving about 1% a day.

It is not that but the lead in time to acquire the aircraft, train the air and ground crews, get the spares and become trained to efficiency, perhaps 3 to 5 years. -

The offer for F16s and F15s is already on the table, IF the current government wants to take it up. quote " The Royal Thai Force (RTAF) is insisting on the need to acquire new aircraft to replace its aging F-16 fighter jets, which are about to be decommissioned, in order to maintain its combat readiness and to protect the country’s air space, Air Vice Marshal Prapas Sonjaidee, spokesman for the RTAF, said Thursday." The last time that the Myanmar airforce flew over Thailand the RTAF were all on the ground hundreds of km away. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Thai_Air_Force The RTAF could order more Gripens as well as F15s and F16s. The only country with any airforce is Myanmar which has a mix of Chinese and Russian aircraft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myanmar_Air_Force https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lao_People's_Liberation_Army_Air_Force https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Cambodian_Air_Force In the south is the Malaysian Air Force with a mix of Russian, US and British aircraft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_equipment_of_the_Royal_Malaysian_Air_Force https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_equipment_of_the_Indonesian_Air_Force This has a mix of Russian, US, British, French and S Korean aircraft. So apart from Myanmar, Thailand has the most powerful air force in the region already. It has to be said however that Thailand has not fought in any air war in decades. They would probably succeed against Las and Cambodia and probably lose against the rest. They might be lucky once against Myanmar, but only because the Myanmar pilots would be laughing so much. I simply went on line as anybody can do to get this information as it is not secret by any means. -
This is Thailand where nothing political is obvious. Can I borrow your crystal ball as I need to win the lottery? ????

US debt ceiling: Will there be enough time to get a deal through?

Yes it does. However the GOP will not admit to ANY blame, NOR are they willing to get the USA out of the mess that they put it in. They would much rather play political games. -

Then lay the blame where it belongs. At the feet of the GOP, who are more interested in earning brownie points than helping the country out of the mess that they put it in. -
Yes. At the very least she fought for her adoptive country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammy_Duckworth A combat veteran of the Iraq War, she served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot. In 2004, when her Black Hawk helicopter was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by Iraqi insurgents, she lost both legs and some mobility in her right arm. She was the first female double amputee from the war.[3] Despite her injuries, she was awarded a medical waiver to continue serving in the Illinois Army National Guard for another ten years until she retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2014. There is more in the link. OTOH trump was too scared to be called up, which IMO partly explains his dislike of the military veterans, especially those who lost limbs and became POWs. It must be harder for him to take as she is a Democrat Senator as well. She even got a waiver to stay in the National Guard for another 10 years. I don't think either running away or refusing to serve are in her vocabulary. Senator Duckworth, as one veteran to another, I salute you and give you my greatest respect.

Better than yet another military coup, where the generals automatically grant each other an amnesty for ALL past, present and future crimes.
