Thailand’s Election Results May Reverse Cannabis Policy
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't smoke cannabis either, so why should we have to use something that we don't like just because other people do. My apologies if your post was an attempt at satire, but it didn't work for me. -
Now why would anybody spend hundreds of GBP flying to Thailand, thousands of baht on accommodation, just to eat Thai food, when there are hundreds of Thai restaurants all across the UK and the EU? Imagine saying to your mates that you flew to Thailand just to eat Thai food and how cheap it was, unless you add in all the extra costs. It must be cheap and good because TAT said it was.

China will transfer high-speed railway tech to Thailand, engineers say
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Actually there is a lot more to it, especially if you are changing from a single track 1 metre gauge to a double track standard gauge. Extra land has to be bought to widen the railbeds. The whole track bed has to be widened, crossing gates moved, hopefully ALL illegal rail crossing points will be closed off and either tunneled under or bridged over, stations widened or replaced, new signalling installed and a myriad other details to be done, along the entire length from Bangkok to the border. The SRT has been around since 1890 but has been underinvested for decades and is in drastic need of investment in locomotives, carriages and rolling stock. Many of the big diesel locos have parts salvaged from older models to keep them running, and many of the rail cars are in the same state due to collisions with stupid drivers who try to beat the trains at both legal and illegal crossings. Thailand does not have many rail engineers with HST experience in building a HST network and the maintenance of the HSR network. And all this is only for the northern line. I have no idea if they will follow this up by expanding to the Malaysian border to the south. There doesn't seem to be any cross country lines, simply up and down the country. -

Thailand’s Election Results May Reverse Cannabis Policy

Equally normally you would think that a political party led by the MoPH would be able, in 4 years, to introduce, tidy up and polish that law so that it is word perfect and pass all of the law the first time. Anutin strongly desires to be the PM, yet makes a pigs ear of his own bill. -
United States could run out of money to pay the bills !
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Maybe if the GOP started to work for the USA instead of trying to score points all the time, the USA would be a better place than it is now. -
Thank you for your help. I will try that tomorrow.

Inviting the BJT also means inviting Anutin who will be more trouble that he is worth to the coalition. It would be like bringing a viper to a party. -

Anutin is the leader of the BJT. Not only is he not a member of either the MFP or the PTP, neither he nor the BJT, at this point in time, have even been asked to join a MFP/PTP coalition. MFP have refused point blank to even work with ANY ex coalition government political party. -
Pheu Thai Party’s government role sparks internal dissatisfaction
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It seems to me that the internal dissatisfaction is just one person having a whine. -
One thing I have noticed in the last few weeks is there are a lot more threads about health, especially for older posters. IMHO this is a good thing as many of us are spread across Thailand, without close farang neighbours to talk to about stuff like this. Although, touch wood I have managed to miss cancer so far, I have had other medical problems. Through the Health Forum threads I have learnt of other people with similar problems and learned about different treatments, where to go for advice etc. It is good to see, share and learn from other posters and learn that we are not alone with our problems. Having read this thread I realise that whilst my problems seemed large to me at the time, compared to others they are only small in reality. One thing I hope is that this thread and others like it don't get hijacked and trashed.

Stark warning over Republicans’ ‘dehumanizing’ rhetoric on crime
billd766 replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
That is what Trump and the GOP have been doing for years. You are correct. It IS pathetic especially from the GOP. I suppose that you also believe that the January 6th riots at the White house were committed by the Democrats as well. -
Mysterious death of Swedish national in Udon Thani stuns locals
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
He could have had a stroke or a heart attack, not know what happened and simply died. If you really need to know, then ask the Udon Thani for a copy of the autopsy. -

billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
So what? A meaningless comment If you came to my house, up by the kitchen you would find Blend 285 Whisky, soda and coca cola bottles. But they are not mine, they belong to my wife, as I quit drinking alcohol 3 years ago. I only drink water with Oral Resusication Salts with some Blue boy Sala for taste. -

Of course if BOTH the Democrats and the GOP worked in favour of the country and the people it would be so much easier. However, the GOP keeps playing its own silly game, so there is NO progress.
