  1. Some people cannot afford to take the time off in case there is no job to go back to. At this point nobody knows what he died of, including you. So why are YOU speculating that he died of a covid infection?
  2. I used to use it mainly to keep up with the area where I was born, an excellent forum on old British cars, a forum on steam locomotives, one on steam traction engines, another on where I used to be stationed during my time in the RAF and a local forum where I live in Thailand. The area where I was born had some great photos of local interest, especially to me.
  3. I am still in Facebook jail after a month as somebody hijacked my account. Facebook assured me that it is usually sorted out in 24 hours. It is now a month and how can you contact Facebook? Through your Facebook account, which is of course suspended.
  4. Where does it say that he was a drunken, belligerent criminal?
  5. The police were not waiting for him. He came to their notice simply because the neighbours complained about him.
  6. Maybe like me at 78, he can't be bothered with leaving Thailand. If he has nothing to go back to in Finland, why would he want to go back? When I go to the local state hospital, all I need to show is my hospital registration card, no passport or visa stamp. As long as he can pay the hospital bill, the hospital won't report him. As for a random police check, mostly when they see a farang they ignore me.
  7. Probably by keeping a low profile. He may also have moved from a different district and a different IO. If he did the previous IO won't care and if he didn't report to the new one they probably wouldn't know that he existed. He would simply fall through the cracks of the system and if he kept a low profile nobody at Immigration would know and his neighbours would keep themselves to themselves. IMHO he brought it on himself by becoming a nuisance and upsetting his neighbours and they got fed up with it and shopped him. I am 78 and I think that if my wife reported to the IO that I had died, then they wouldn't bother to look for me, and probably not bother to search or ask the local cops to look either. That is just my thoughts.
  8. Most of us know but there is no party political discussion, yet. It is interesting to me, the reason behind their blank refusal.
  9. And which political party has been blocking the move every time?

  11. Why would any Thai political party want a born loser on its books?
  12. I think that you are a bit out on your flight costs. https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a41956551/cost-per-hour-to-fly-us-military-aircraft/ The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter costs $41,986 an hour across all models, including the F-35A for the Air Force, the F-35B for the Marine Corps, and the F-35C for the Marine Corps and Navy. The Air Force in particular is stuck with the headache of replacing the F-16, which costs $26,927 an hour, with a plane that costs 25 percent more to operate, permanently raising costs. The other main problem is that normal aircrew will not get that much of a chancer to pilot them/it as all the air force generals will want to first and if one of them breaks one, Thailand will be buggered. The 2 that they want to buy will not be equipped with any weapons or state of the art electronics, nor I suspect will they come with a spares and support package. https://breakingdefense.com/2022/03/f-35-to-get-more-expensive-in-next-deal-program-exec-says/#:~:text=Under the terms of the, million during the same period. The contract for lots 12-14, inked in 2019, included 478 F-35s for the US military and international customers. Under the terms of the agreement, an F-35A will cost $77.9 million in Lot 14, with the F-35B short takeoff and landing variant coming in at $101.3 million and the F-35C carrier variant at $94.4 million during the same period. These prices are for contracts signed in 2019, 3 years ago. https://executiveflyers.com/how-much-does-a-f-16-cost/#:~:text=The F-16 costs anywhere, country purchasing the fighter jet. https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a41956551/cost-per-hour-to-fly-us-military-aircraft/ A-10 Thunderbolt: $22,531/hour F-16 Fighting Falcon: $26,927/hour F/A-18E/F Super Hornet: $30,404/hour F-22 Raptor: $85,325/hour F-35 Joint Strike Fighter: $41,986/hour
  13. Of course he is trolling. He always does. I put him on ignore months ago. The more you feed him the worse he gets. Simply ignore him, and you deprive him of the chance to troll.
  14. Have you ever asked yourself WHY they are a daily part of American life?
  15. TBH I am 78 and I have no desire to leave Thailand, so what is happening in the UK is only of passing interest to me. Unless I win the Thai lottery in big numbers, I am unlikely to leave Thailand any more, and I suspect that cash will still work for the rest of my lifetime.
  16. IMHO the response should be laughter and a slow handclap. I think that the PPRP would have to be really desperate to take them back. They have party hopped once or twice before and they would think nothing of doing it again and again. After all, who would trust a Thai politicians word or promise?
  17. I understood him quite clearly and agree with him 100%.
  18. Me neither. I agree with you 100% about most local rural villages.
  19. Please don't whine when we get a discount for cash payment.
  20. I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet and always use cash, as does my wife. Most of the shops, malls, gas stations etc use a choice of cash, credit/debit cards, QR codes etc. Most stalls and markets use cash. We pay the same price in cash as the cards are charged.
  21. Certainly not in todays pc, woke or snowflake climate. However in the real world, of course she would.
  22. The problem with the lack of clarity is that Anutin and the BJP failed to do their job properly in writing the bill in the first place. If they had taken their time and consulted with all the interested parties, written and rewritten it until most people were happy with it, they would have been fine. However they made a dogs breakfast of it, and kept modifying it and probably will for a long time yet. They failed the 6 P test. https://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/PPPPP PPP PP Proper Preparation Prevents P*** Poor Performance
  23. I am registered at the nearest hospital and use them on a regular basis. I also have read stories from farangs and for the most part they are complaining about the prices at private hospitals, many of which use state doctors as consultants. Private hospitals are free to charge whatever they like, and not only farangs are charged those high prices. Normally the first thing you are asked at reception is if you are insured or have a credit card, and that is even before you see a doctor. All their drugs are highly priced and when my wife stayed overnight once the charges were over 10,000 baht. They charged 18 baht for 1 paracetamol tablet, which at any pharmacy are sold at 100 baht for a tub of 100. At state hospitals the prices are only 10 to 20% of private prices and their meds tend to be generic at generic prices. The main problem is that so many poorer Thais use them so the waiting time is longer. When I go they check my BP, temperature and weight and if I disagree with the figures I say so and they do a retest.
