  1. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-58162318 More than 75% of UK adults have now received two Covid jabs, the government has said. A total of 39,688,566 people have now received both doses, while another 7 million have only had a single dose, according to the latest figures. Boris Johnson described the milestone in the vaccine rollout as a "huge national achievement". But Oxford Vaccine Group director Prof Sir Andrew Pollard has warned that herd immunity is "not a possibility". https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-58157207 An unvaccinated father-of-three who spent four days on a ventilator fighting Covid-19 has said he has "no doubt" a vaccine would have helped him. Gerald Prentice, 40, was discharged from Antrim Area Hospital last week. He said he is not an "anti-vaxxer" but had wanted to obtain more information. Northern Ireland's chief scientific adviser has said about 80% of Covid-19 patients aged under 60 in hospitals have not been vaccinated. Prof Ian Young is encouraging the public to get a jab for Covid-19 as soon as possible.
  2. quote "Still, everyone has the right to play Russian Roulette with their life if they want to." But it does NOT give anyone the right to play Russian Roulette with my life or that of my families lives.
  3. For those who do not want a vaccination may find that their travel plans will be very limited. I have read that many night clubs in the UK will not allow unvaccinated customers into their clubs. In the future airlines will not allow passengers to board, international travel will be forbidden, perhaps in the future unvaccinated people will be put into quarantine at their expense until they accept a vaccination. This is only my opinion and not wishful thinking. Still the choice to vaccinate or not is yours. My choice is vaccination. YMMV
  4. Many times the military are called out during floods etc to rescue people who are trapped, so the are some good units in the army. There are few bad soldiers, fewer good officers and far too many generals in the bloated Thai military.
  5. You registered as I and some 40.xxx others did. The information was given that appointments would be issued from 11 and 12 August, Which is tomorrow and Thursday. You should get an email and/or an SMS which you need to acknowledge to confirm the appointment and get vaccinated. I am 77, also with 3 of the 7 underlying medical conditions. I have managed to wait quite patiently until I get told where and when to go for my vaccination. There have been several threads on this subject in the last few days, why don't you search for them and see what they say? I have no idea what Medpark is, other than yet another site to register for a vaccination. I believe it is some where around the BKK area, but I could be wrong.
  6. Unfortunately my pension providers are all in the UK and they work to UK public holidays.
  7. Yes, that is what I meant and that is what I am sure I typed. However the gremlin that haunts my pc does change things whilst I am not looking.
  8. Of course they can. They can always tear up the constitution and write a new one. That happens after every military coup.
  9. Do you not remember 2014 when Suthep and his mob prowled the streets of BKK taking in cash money after successfully (but illegally) stopping a legal election and taking in lots of untraceable cash? I certainly do, and I think that quite a few other posters will remember that too.
  10. And how all the ultra royalists and the yellow shirts screamed and took to the streets and rioted over that over that. I wonder if they will do the same for this lot?
  11. IMO a lot will depend on how many people will get/have jobs and money. It will be a long hard slog to get back the market share that those businesses used to have.
  12. I will be 623 years old and still drawing my frozen UK state pension and have a record six 100th birthday letters from whoever is the King or Queen of the UK at the time. ????
  13. But in reality they haven't sorted it out. Every other day they change priorities depending on who shouts the loudest (and has the biggest brown envelope). Anutin claimed that AZ would produce over 10 million doses per month, that part is correct, but it turns out that he only wanted 3 million and the rest for export. Now it seems that Thailand will only get between 5 and 6 million AZ per month, instead of the 10 million he claimed. J&J, Pfizer, Moderna weren't even ordered until the last month or two. The earliest delivery date is Q4. There are 4, 5 or 6 departments who are involved in ordering vaccines from offshore where one can easily do it if they want to and try hard. There are too many chiefs and not enough indians. IMHO 70% full herd immunity (2 or 3 doses) across the whole of Thailand will not happen until next year, simply because they sat back slapping each other on the back last year instead of ordering extra vaccines. When you order vaccines etc from offshore it really doesn't matter who your Daddy is or how big a brown envelope you have, you simply go to the back of the queue like everybody else does. Since the 3rd? phase started with a vengeance in April they are running around like headless chickens playing catch up and failing. This is not a gloom and doom post ( though I have no doubt some will treat it as such), but simply my opinion after reading the news about Covid in Thailand for the last 15 months.
  14. Well lucky for you and your wife. In reality there is still no sign of any vaccine for my wife, 17 year old son, me, our 2 neighbours and their children, nor do I know of anybody else in this cluster of villages who has been vaccinated up here in rural Kamphaeng Phet. That is a fact, and not a negative comment, nor an opinion.
