IMHO a lot depends on where you ride it as well. I wouldn't be happy riding one down Sukhumvit Road around the Asoke area of Bangkok compared to rural Thailand.

My son and my neighbours daughter, 18 and 17 respectively are taken to school 13km away every school morning by pickup truck here in rural Kamphaeng Phet. I know that they are not left asleep in the pickup because I am the driver. The afternoon run is done by my neighbour in her car. It costs more than a school bus/van/pickup but is worth far more than the cost. On the way there are always other children awaiting pick up so the drivers must know how many the take each day and as been said so many times in this thread, a simple walk through takes less than a minute and may save a childs life. Normally there is a teacher or responsible adult on P1 to P6 buses only as they start M1 at age 12 and there are normally older children on the bus anyway.

On my school run this morning I only counted a dozen. 6 including the one on my drive were just outside on the road. I didn't recognise any of them as being local (the 10 or so houses either side). They can't be after my dogs as I got the last 2 put down 6 or 7 years ago for eating my wife's ducks that she had bought 2 days earlier. The duck were the culmination of the problem as I live in rural Thailand and most of the houses used to have chickens. A favourite food of soi dogs and a problem guaranteed to upset your neighbours. Soi dogs are not only on the streets but around peoples houses and gardens too, tipping bins over looking for food, crapping anywhere and everywhere. killing chickens and ducks and trying to savage people on scooters and motorbikes. They are a pest and taking them off the streets and sterilising them and releasing them again does not fix the problem. There are millions of them across the country and the only way to fix that problem is to have all the soi and street dogs put down. But who will do it and who will pay for it is a bigger problem?

That is a possibility if they are retired/pensioners and don't need to work, and they have enough money left to fly to Thailand and live here for 3 or 4 months. But they would have to own their own house/apartment and still have to pay standing charges for water, electricity and gas and to pay all the other monthly charges at home. They will also need to leave the heating on low just to keep the water pipes from freezing and having to pay large amounts to plumbers, plasterers etc to repair the damage.

I use clay balls about the size of a marble and if you get it right and the ball hits something solid it gives the same effect as a glass marble. A good idea. Also EVERY senator should stand for election and NO past or present military or police general or members of the clergy should be allowed to be a senator. There should be NO positions reserved in the senate for any heads of the military, police or the clergy under any circumstances. Their term of appointment must be 8 years at maximum consecutively or over their lifetime. No family members can serve without being elected first. This is simply my opinion.

To be honest while the thread started out with good enough intentions it has evolved/devolved into a my Dad is bigger than your Dad. Oh no he isn't/oh yes he is.
