  1. I'd like to think so. However, we live in such a rotten society anything is possible. We have yet to see the first AI fake interview ( far as I know ), but I have no doubt they are coming. I already believe nothing from politicians, but it's going to be difficult when the news organisations may also be untrustworthy
  2. If Harris is going to try and win by painting herself as a better person than Trump, then one would think she would not tell any lies. You seem to be covering for her- is she your heroine or something?
  3. It wouldn't matter if it wasn't someone trying to win an election based on Trump bad, Trump bad. When accusing the opposition of being a bad man, it behooves one to be beyond reproach. I'm lovin' that it's looking so bad for the Dems- finally exposed for what they really are. Seriously, they'd have done better to have tried " he misread the teleprompter" than the rubbish in the OP.
  4. Are you saying that skiing should be banned on Mt Ruapehu then?
  5. Errrr, what about that other active volcano, the one where thousands of people go skiing every winter?
  6. There is no such thing as guaranteed safety, especially when one's own family may kill one. The nanny state is doing it's best to emasculate us all, but so far only partially succeeding. People like Hillary must be spinning in their graves to see what has happened to NZ. The trips to White Island were adventure tours, and as such were obviously hazardous. As I said before, it comes down to if customers were advised of the risk, and signed to say that they were. Obviously, if the risks were not stated prior to the tour and nothing was signed, there is fault on the organisation's part.
  7. They'd have been better off trying the old "he had a cold", or "he just got off a long flight" excuse. The desperation is showing.
  8. Shouldn't that be "no I don't"? If it looks like sarcasm it generally is.
  9. It's been real, guys, but I gotta go eat something so I'm outta here till tomorrow.
  10. Stud? Hardly, but I did OK with the biz. My idea of a stud is a guy that women throw themselves at, but that definitely doesn't apply to me. When I was young I had no money, no nice car, no nice house, so not worth their time. When I was older and had money I wasn't interested in them, as had discovered Thailand to spend it in.
  11. I read somewhere that Thai girls were scathing about men that bought them a single rose- thought they were being stingy or something. Flowers are a western capitalist invention to sell flowers ( like diamonds for engagements ), and some things don't travel well.
  12. I never had a problem even if I didn't particularly like the person I was doing it with. I'm not getting into why I might be with someone I didn't particularly like. Too complicated and not relevant anyway.
  13. So they rather receive something else. Something they would enjoy eating or drinking The above is the relevant sentence. I used to take them on holidays to the beach, but they would probably have been happier staying in Pattaya with their friends.
  14. She did. I was the best deal she was ever going to get. She even wanted me to go back to her about a couple of years after we got divorced and I had left LOS. Obviously had no luck catching another farang like her family wanted. She even told me that they wanted her to divorce me so she could marry a farang that would give them lotasacash. I didn't stay in touch with her, but she was able to ask my sister on facebook to ask me. They met once and obviously exchanged facebook contacts.
  15. Apologies. I missed "unless either of you is going to make the effort necessary to become fluent in each other's language", and erroneously thought you were saying both needed to learn each other's language. Senior moment.
  16. For girls that spoke no English, braille usually worked for me. The only Thai I need to know in such situations was "stay long time?" and "how much?".
  17. One would have to be an idiot to do it the same if one could go back. There are about a quarter million things I'd do better if I could, but the biggest would be NOT getting involved in a relationship with women, Friends yes, partners never ever.
  18. Up to me. She was lucky I let her pick the restaurant.
  19. LOL. My wife spoke perfect conversational English, so why would I need to learn conversational Thai? I spoke Thai well enough to get by. More than that would have been a waste of my time. Two people trying to conduct a meaningful romantic relationship when neither speaks each other's language is like both people being bound to a wheelchair or a set of crutches. LOL. Given no Thai woman I ever spent time with had anything resembling a romantic side as we farangs understand it, why would I have bothered with the flowers or the prezzies? With me she had aquired the winning Lotto ticket- no need for more. That's what I liked about the "dating" ( for want of a more appropriate word ) game in LOS was that there isn't one unless one likes pretending. It's just transactional. Thais are so much more practical than stupid farangs that think they have to woo the woman.
  20. I get the impression from some of the posts that some posters like to discuss Plato, quantum theory physics and the works of William Shakespeare with their refugee from the village. I think the most profound thing I discussed with my refugee was which restaurant we would go to.
  21. I rarely agree with you, but on this 🏆. Some of the sense of superiority is mind boggling.
  22. Just keep telling yourself that. It won't make it true, but it'll make it hurt less.
  23. I said way back in 2016 that Trump might have a few problems, but his time was going to be very entertaining. He's been entertaining for a lot longer than I expected. I hope to be even more entertained by U Tube VDOs of the snowflakes crying when he wins. The ones in 2016 were just hilarious.
