Dietary wise life is making a joke on us- healthy food just isn't tasty and enjoyable as food supposedly bad for us. If I wasn't pre diabetic I'd still be eating loads of sugar. Don't and never cared about food any more than filling the petrol tank. Favourite food is hot dogs. Saves on expenses as never a need to eat at restaurants, except fast food if in a rush. In Thailand I did eat at a restaurant all the time ( Gekkos in Chiang Mai ), bit of a dump but great food at not much more cost than cooking for myself. Lovely hot dogs too.

When I was of an age to go to uni I would have lasted about 5 minutes before I said the wrong thing and my uni life ended. I spent almost my entire school years in boys only schools without any female contact ( I guess I was just lucky there ), except for one female teacher, who might as well have been a man, and the office lady who was a goddess of beauty to be worshiped from afar, but never close up. After school came the male only bastion of the military, before women were permitted in other than the typing pool. The result was that I was naive and ignorant of the ways of women when I went nursing. It was a steep learning curve to survival. I guess I was lucky to get out reasonably unscathed; some did not and lived to regret their choice of career. However, scarred for life mentally.

Sometimes less is more. My eyes started to glaze over about half way through that. However, from what I did read, I have to agree. Don't worry, eat drink womanise or whatever makes you happy, as western civilisation is IMO heading directly into the dumpster of history, and not a thing that you or I can do about it, except try and find some enjoyment as the great experiment in democracy comes to a shuddering halt in wokism, PC and BS writ large. The saddest thing is that those that would have saved it, real men, have vanished. Now they are emasculated, beaten down, in thrall to womanhood, afraid to speak out, and generally neutered. I know as I was that way myself in my trade of nursing, unable to say what I thought as I knew my life would become a living hell if they had an inkling of my true thoughts. I had a few close shaves, and it wasn't pleasant at the time, and certainly put me off any more truth speak. Even the woman I used to love became a woke monster from hell, which was why she became my ex.

The person to discuss your chances of retinal detachment and what they do after to fix it would be an ophthalmic surgeon or specialist nurse ( it they have such in Thailand ). I've attended many retinal re attachments using laser, ( not for post cataract operations ) a scrub nurse is not required and it's not a sterile procedure as the eye is not opened, but never spoke to anyone that had one after, so don't know what the result is like.

I was a scrub nurse. Cataracts only have two people at the operating table- the surgeon and the assistant ( me ) handing over the instruments as required and operating the machine used to do the operation. I must have assisted at a few thousand cataract operations in my time, with a great many surgeons.

If talking private, "affordable" does not necessarily mean good. There is no reason to assume a Thai public hospital is not "good" when it comes to surgery. The deficit would likely be in having to have ones own caretaker as the post op nursing seems lacking in my wife's mother's experience ( my wife had to sleep under her bed to look after her ). Whole families camped outside the hospital.

One thinks that you do not understand what "culture" actually is. It's not the ability to kill people one doesn't like, but a way of uniting a people to live peaceful lives together.
