  1. Soooo, for the sake of 18% they are going to make the other 82% PO at them. Great business plan! Where did those imbeciles go to school- the school for morons perhaps?
  2. Shell management is going to look like fools if hydrogen has a breakthrough and becomes the fuel of choice, or perhaps some technology that is yet to be invented. I think I'd quite enjoy that. Far as I'm concerned, any technology that doesn't rely on exploiting child labour in Africa, or causing massive amounts of pollution to make is a better option.
  3. I'm also a Brit, else I wouldn't have the passport, but I'm not loathe to point out the failings of the British establishment. Sort of funny, but when I worked in London, I didn't meet many actual Brits, and many/ ? most of our patients were not born in the UK. We even had some that flew in to get free operations on the NHS and went back whence they came after.
  4. Why would Trump pardon Hunter? The best revenge Trump could have on Biden would be to let his son rot in prison. Is an ex president allowed to pardon criminals even after losing the election? Ain't that the truth. It's so bizzaro that Trump won't be able to do anything till January. In most sane countries the rejects are out on the pavement with all they posses in a couple of shopping bags the day after. I can't begin to imagine the damage Harris would do in a whole month. Sarcasm alert.
  5. They may have arrived somewhat earlier than the British, but they didn't originate in Australia. They originated in Africa, like every human on the planet and apparently crossed to what became Australia when there was a land bridge, but couldn't leave once the land bridge vanished. So when you wobble on about people going back to where they came from, it applies to you too. If we all went back to where we came from, that place in Africa would be a spot crowded, wouldn't it?
  6. LOL. Given that most of the "invaders" had no right to vote in Britain, your post is somewhat irrelevant. Universal voting for British men only happened in 1918. Women later https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_suffrage All adult men in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland were enfranchised by the Representation of the People Act 1918. In Australia men got the vote in 1901. No cigar then.
  7. It's often said of Biden by his supporters that he is a nice man. I don't know how a nice man could allow thousands of children to be blown to bits by the bombs that he is responsible for sending. It's not like they, or their mothers ( that are also being killed in large numbers by Biden's bombs ) are a threat to the israelis.
  8. IMO BS. Far as I know, everything that Palestinians in Gaza needed to survive came from UNRWA and overseas countries and charities. They got electricity and water from the israelis, and far as I know that was it. Under international law I understand it is the responsibility of an occupying power to look after the occupied, but IMO, as with everything to do with Palestinians, israelis don't abide by international law. BTW, it's a war crime to deny food water and medical help to a civilian population, but israelis are well known as not giving a fig for international law, unless it helps them.
  9. If that was their thinking it has indeed worked, 100%. A purely Pavlovian response, IMO. Perhaps they didn't expect israel to go monster on them though. After all, israelis are supposed to be civilised people.
  10. Every sovereign nation has the right to determine their capital, but only on land they have a right to. Israel has no right to Jerusalem as it was to be an international zone in the 1948 allocation of Arab land to the israelis. No UN resolution has been passed since giving it to israel. Israelis only have it by force of arms. I thought you would have known that as you profess to know about modern israel.
  11. Seems the Thais have a knack of not knowing what makes a place popular. For instance, the beaches I used to love way back last century used to be full of very cheap ( 300 baht a night ) accommodation, but then the owners thought that upgrading the accommodation to flashpacker status would bring in higher profits, so they concreted the beaches and pretty much ruined them. It's like they thought people went to the beach because of the room they would stay in, rather than the unspoiled beach itself. Had Rin used to be a fantastic beach but by this century it had become concrete hell.
  12. Could be as simple as the sort of people that inhabit those clubs are not going to Thailand to spend money on overpriced drinks in some club. I can remember Walking Street before any "clubs" existed ( come to that, I can remember it before it became Walking Street and Soi 8 was the place to be ). Things change. Pattaya ain't the cheap but enjoyable place it used to be in the 90s. By the time I was last there it was an expensive place to stay with bad traffic. I'll bet you won't find a decent hotel for 600 baht a night any more, and it's not like the exchange rate favours British tourists.
  13. Agree. The reckoning is coming. I see something like the anti apartheid campaign happening, and it will happen despite American protests and vetoes in the UN. How can it not? IMO this conflict is becoming a battle for the soul of humanity. Will the world ( outside it's leaders ) allow the atrocity to continue, or not? Is humanity on the side of those that bomb small children to death, or on the side of the children. It's a pretty clear choice, IMO. There isn't much grey between a living and a dead child, and there are thousands of dead children already. When it's all over, I hope those dead children haunt the dreams of those that sent the bombs to kill them. I doubt any other penalty will happen to those that collude in the bombing. Despite lofty words about peace on Earth, our leaders seem to rejoice in killing, or at least seem reluctant to stop it happening.
  14. LOL. Perhaps the israelis can go back where they came from too. Even the early Israelites came from somewhere else. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_and_Judaism_in_the_Land_of_Israel The archaeological record indicates that the culture that later evolved into the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah emerged in the Early Iron Age (
  15. The 26 years was how long I knew them, not how old they were.
  16. Good for you, but you hadn't known her for 26 years.
  17. Karma doesn't earn good points towards entry to heaven. Only the penitent get there. Didn't you read the Gospels?
  18. That would depend on how much you help them.
  19. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy helping others, but the lack of any gratitude for doing so, and the back stabbing took the gloss off. Loaning a 26 year "friend" a years income and having him steal it, does make one reluctant to do it again ( though my wife did attempt to steal all I had, but only got some of it- I guess I had learned something by then ).
  20. ???????????? Buddhism doesn't have gods and Christianity has only 1 God.
  21. Perhaps I've been alone so much of my life that I'm happy enough on my own, so I don't need other people to fulfill me. In LOS I never cared that I didn't even know any males other than my BIL and his two sons, and I preferred them not to be in my vicinity. The interactions I had with Thai males were, on the whole, business, and carried out without any emotional impact one way or another. Having to think about it, I think the only man I had an emotional response to was Father Ray of the Pattaya orphanage, a man that I had profound respect for, and he wasn't Thai.
  22. When you find some of them, let me know. They have been in rather short supply in my life. I love happy ending movies, for the lift in my mood, but I know that it's just made up, and I won't ever have friendships like them, or find true love. Last couple of years I have become fond of Japanese anime of the happy ending variety ( many are not, as the Japanese seem to have sadness in their very soul ), which is even more fake as they are not even real actors. Never mind, it's great to have a happy feeling, even if it vanishes by the morning sun
  23. Well in the case of a certain woman, Paul certainly gave and gave, and gave some more. I wonder what he got in return?
  24. Strange you would reference a man manager. I certainly wish an unpleasant life for some of my managers, but the only two I'd like dead were both men.
  25. Ooh, you are going to woke hell for that. Truth is not allowed by the wokesters.
