Even if it was 50% less, that would be over 15,000 dead, mostly women and children, and we will probably never know the real figure. I disagree. Thailand is not a nanny state that protects people against everything ( but still can't stop parents beating their kids to death ). IMO they work on the premise that if a female is not prepared to use contraception and gets pregnant, then it's on them and not everyone else. The word "no" exists in Thai and is a very effective contraceptive. I liked Thailand because it wasn't a nanny state, and IMO if people want a nanny state they should go live in one, and stop trying to change Thailand to some imitation of a western nanny state.

There is no requirement for a dowry at all. It's traditional, not legal. If farangs want to pay a dowry, up to them, but if told that he has to because it's Thai custom he should ask if they will abide by his country's custom of the wife's family paying for the wedding ceremony. Too many dumb farangs have paid out and now the Thais think all farangs are dumb!

I agree about marriage ceasing to be a zillion %. It's something out of the middle ages and no longer of any use at all that I can see.

It's going to be interesting once same sex couples start getting divorced en mass ( 50% or more, just like hetero marriages ). With a man and a woman the court knows to favour the woman, but with same sex, how will they know who to give all the loot to? 5555555555555555 With children they just give the child to the mother, but with same sex marriages of males who will have the better claim? 555555555555 Not so problematic with two women as likely one actually had the child, so she will get the child, but will the partner, who obviously contributed no genetic material to the child, have to pay large to support the mother, as well as having to lose the house?

They don't have to do anything if they don't want to. I'm against marriage per se. I'd like to see the end of them, PERIOD. In the West they are just a means for women to steal the guy's property after driving him to divorce, and they are no guarantee of a happy life. Over 50% end in divorce. If 50% of cars blew up, would we buy cars? If people want to live together just do it and shut up about all the BS that people surround marriage with. Since when were marriages in Thailand religious? We go to the amphur to get married, PERIOD. People can choose to have a religious ceremony but that is not a legal marriage, only the legal signing in the office is a legal marriage.

For sure, Trump is not the usual accused that goes before the judge, one that is awed by the judicial system, and goes along with it. IMO Trump doesn't care about judges, or the judicial system, and with 91 or so cases against him has nothing to lose by mocking it and them. They can only put him in jail once, unless they have developed a way to clone him. Every day with Trump in it is an interesting day.

The smile of a man that knows the judge is screwed if he does or if he doesn't. The judge should have thought a bit more carefully before making the gag order, as he should have known how Trump would react.

Go Trump go. He knows that going to jail will just make him more popular and support his claims to being unfairly treated by the Dems using the judicial system against him. No doubt the judge will know of potential problems for him and his family if he did jail Trump. Having made the threat, he is now in the unenviable position of either jailing Trump, with the potential problems for his personal safety, or of not jailing Trump and looking weak. Trump has now thrown the ball into the judge's court, and we will have to wait and see what the judge does with it.
