  1. PS. I forgot about The Falcons which were a band playing upstairs off Courtney Place. They played covers, but were pretty good. I spent many a happy hour up there on a weekend.
  2. Hated Split Enz, and every cover artist on Let's Go or whatever it was called with Peter Sinclair. Alison Durbin makes me nauseous. I did like Peter Posa and The Hamilton County Bluegrass band though. Meanwhile over the ditch they had the wonderful Seekers with the magnificent voice of Judith Durham, and many others ( some of which may have been Kiwis escaping NZ to actually be able to earn a few bob ).
  3. Ignore only applies to individual posters. It wouldn't stop me seeing a link you posted, but you didn't post a link, did you?
  4. We don't know what the israelis really plan for "after", so let's wait and see on that. BTW, 6,000 bombs was weeks ago and they've dropped lots more than that since, but I haven't seen a published number.
  5. That hasn't been proven, and after so long it's almost certainly made up. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/unverified-allegations-beheaded-babies-israel-hamas-war-inflame-social-rcna119902 A series of shocking reports have spread horrific claims of baby beheadings by Hamas militants across social and mainstream media in recent days, adding a particularly incendiary element to an already violent and bitter war. But the reports are still unconfirmed, and in some cases have been retracted. Biden lied. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/unverified-allegations-beheaded-babies-israel-hamas-war-inflame-social-rcna119902 The most high-profile claim came Wednesday night when President Joe Biden said that he had seen photographic evidence of terrorists beheading children. The White House later clarified that Biden was referring to news reports about beheadings, which have not included or referred to photographic evidence.
  6. If YOU were a Palestinian under illegal occupation and daily humiliation, would YOU accept it, or want to fight back any way YOU could?
  7. I don't need to go on here to know what is going on, and I don't need to read any news media linked to western governments to know they are biased. BTW, you made the claim so it's up to you to prove it or I can make my own conclusions as to the truth.
  8. Gee, those Al Jazeera censors must be the most incompetent censors on the planet! I'll add some so you don't have to. saying there is no fuel, but showing cars driving to the south, saying no fuel, but showing fire hoses being operated putting out fires caused by israeli bombs, no fuel for machinery, but a digger removing rubble of a building blown up by the israelis to find buried bodies. Sure, some shots better deleted to prove one sides' view. Why they were left in I don't know. What I do believe is that israel dropped over 6,000 bombs on a defenseless people, because the israelis said they did. Over 6,000 bombs is killing a lot of defenseless people. Whether it's 5,000 children or 500 children dead it's too many. Otherwise, I believe what netanyahu says, and it's monstrous.
  9. To know that you must be able to speak Arabic, as they ain't speaking in English. Do you speak Arabic? I've watched a lot of Al Jazeera recently, but haven't seen any of what you say. If they do censor what they show, why wouldn't they just cut out those bits?
  10. Given it's a war, everything is subject to propaganda, but personally I'll take Al Jazeera version over israeli version, as Al Jazeera isn't actually involved in the war itself.
  11. Indeed, it would be, but the israelis are making sure that not much is left to live in. Why else would they need so many bombs?
  12. Are you aware that communications were lost with the hospital a while back, so are those lights and computers on right NOW?
  13. Al Jazeera gets representatives of the international organisations to speak for themselves. Are they all lying? Well see then if they can find a Hamas command center, or if it's just another WMD scam, but I won't believe it if not verified by independent organizations. I hope they are going to give medical attention to the injured, put power back on, water back on and feed them if they are taking over the hospital. Apparently a few premature babies in need of functioning incubators as well. Al Jazeera has confirmed the israelis have stormed the hospital. I wonder what they will do with the thousands of Palestinians sheltering there? The israelis just made themselves responsible for all of them.
  14. Perhaps you should go join the israeli army and kill Palestinians, as that is what you seem in favour of. Don't just talk about it on here, just do it.
  15. In reality, if one is discussing things, one has the other person's body language to tell us how we are doing. On line we only have emojis. Perhaps you don't need feedback, but I, and I'm sure many, do. It's not about approval of others that I post for, but to get different ideas from others which is what debate is all about. It's not debating if the only opinion we care about is our own. On the God thread, which has to be the longest thread in TVF/AN history, I learned a lot because I was looking to interact with others, not because I was just saying what I thought without caring about any one else's input or opinions.
  16. Most of us need feedback, else we are posting in a vacuum. Perhaps you only go on a limited number of threads and have the time to respond to each and every post you find interesting, or not, but some of us look at many threads. An emoji is a valid way of responding to a post without having to spend lots of time on it. To be quite frank, some posts deserve a response without words, as they are nasty, pointless and irrelevant. To post something on them would IMO take me down into the gutter with them. If a post is relevant, respectful of other points of view, thought about, I'll spend time on it, but if not, an emoji is all it deserves.
  17. No prizes for guessing who that refers to, LOL.
  18. consistent and, more importantly, politically neutral The above are the relevant words concerning moderation on this forum. One mod that is no longer with us was neither, and any search of his/ her user name + Thai Visa Forum was very illustrative of the opinion of the myriad posters s/he had banned ( it wasn't flattering ).
  19. I disagree. One only knows what other posters think about one's posts from the emoji response. No one is going to write a reply saying "I really liked that post" or I hated that post", and if they had to, every thread would have pages of such posts. If you don't like the laugh emoji specifically, address that to the mods, as none of us can do anything about that. I can agree with that, but if that's the accepted definition I must have loads of trolls attacking me judging by the number of personal insults I get. I don't see most now as they are on ignore, but I do when they are quoted by another poster.
  20. On a different forum I was stalked by a certain poster, who even PM'd me as a mod, so I was able to have him banned on that basis, but he kept coming back on under new usernames. I was easily able to identify him from his style, which was unique, so I was able to get him banned again by contacting the mods. Everyone has a unique style, and I'm certain I'd be picked up fast if I came back under a new username. As an aside, he was also posting on this forum under his original username, and he continued stalking me till he vanished for some unknown reason. BTW have any you done a google search of your username? It can be quite interesting. In my case, the stalker used to impersonate me on other forums asking stupid questions, like "what sort of birthday present can I buy my Thai GF for under 100 baht" which elicited the expected responses. He also went on hotel sites and gave them phoney reviews. I suspect he may have died of hatred for me, when he disappeared from TVF.
  21. IMO it would help if posters e mail admin and get a response. In the past I e mailed admin a few times with a valid complaint about a certain mod that is no longer with us, but the first time I was fobbed of with a pointless response that didn't deal with my complaint, and after that they just ignored me. If we think we got a raw deal from a mod, we deserve more than that. After all, without us there is no forum.
  22. Even more, some posters need to find out how to ignore posters they have a problem with. It makes the posting experience so much more pleasant not to have to keep skipping posts. IMO most of us come on here to get away from real life for a while, and it's not enjoyable if all we do is respond to personal attack posts.
  23. You don't appear to be a psychologist, else you might understand why posters winge. Winging is absolutely fine, and anyone doesn't like it is welcome to just not continue reading. Psychologists no doubt have a term to describe those people that like to read something they describe as winging and then winge about the winging.
