  1. Biden just lost almost all Arab ethnicity Americans over his pro israel policy in Gaza. Last I saw it was down to 7% or something. Not that it's likely to lead to a Trump win given he's as much in bed with the israelis as Biden is. I guess they'll just not vote at all.
  2. LOL. He probably values his own skin too much to do that. I'm not saying Trump would do anything himself, but he wouldn't need to. In Trump there is an adversary backed up by millions and it only takes one to make the judge's life rather unpleasant. I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to have to go into witness protection or anything like that.
  3. Indeed. It's an "easy" way to shut down the opposition, given people like to believe the worst in others.
  4. Ukraine will run out of cannon fodder before Russia does. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/1/russia-pursues-avdiivka-with-meat-assaults-in-a-replay-of-bakhmut Retired Ukrainian Colonel Petro Chernyk said Russia could potentially call on up to 3 million former conscripts trained in basic combat and, despite the fact that Ukraine has “destroyed” about 25,000 Russian soldiers a month, these were always immediately replaced.
  5. Could be as simple as needing more ammunition than can be supplied. While researching this topic, I found the below. The more rounds a weapon uses the more has to be transported thousands of miles, assuming they are even available. No army can function without it's supply train. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/1/russia-pursues-avdiivka-with-meat-assaults-in-a-replay-of-bakhmut Both sides appeared to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for ordnance. The Bloomberg news agency quoted unnamed sources as saying that the European Union had supplied only a third of the one million shells it has promised Ukraine by April.
  6. Did I miss something, but wasn't Ukraine already "counterattacking" with it's much vaunted "offensive" that doesn't seem to have had a breakthrough anywhere?
  7. I think that was as much payback for Cuba getting rid of America's tame dictator that turned Cuba into the mafia's home from home, as not wanting Russian missiles close enough to nuke Washington. Lets remember that America had their own nuke missiles parked really close to the USSR. America like tame dictators and when they can't get a tame one they will install a brute, as in Chile.
  8. One always hopes for sanity, but as seen in a different conflict from Ukraine, sanity is in short supply in this Brave New World we find ourselves in. My fear is that Xi will resort to the situation normal when threatened from within, of starting a little war to divert the threats elsewhere. It worked for Thatcher, so why not Xi?
  9. To the poster that put a laugh icon on that, please explain what is so funny? Was it Blinken's waste of jet fuel mission that achieved nothing of any importance. Was it his visit to Turkey that will likely result in some hard truths that Blinken would likely prefer not to hear. Maybe it was the protests in London and Washington. Perhaps the poster in question just likes putting laugh icons on any post that doesn't support THEIR viewpoint.
  10. The elephant in the room is Iran. While israel/ america would likely win in any war, it would result in American boys coming home in body bags in an election year. Something Biden is likely to want to avoid.
  11. I was somewhat puzzled as to why the Americans had to send more bombs etc to israel at the start, but I guess the plan was always to use some excuse to flatten Gaza, and israel didn't have enough to do the job. While even netanyahu realised the below would be guaranteed to make israel pariah, one suspects it's a desire of more than the minister that said it. So it'll just be bombs till the americans run out of bombs to send them. https://www.timesofisrael.com/far-right-minister-says-nuking-gaza-an-option-pm-suspends-him-from-cabinet-meetings/ Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said Sunday that one of Israel’s options in the war against Hamas could be to drop a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip, in comments that were quickly disavowed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who also suspended the minister from cabinet meetings. Meanwhile the protests around the world grow in size and in number. Are western leaders that flocked to pay homage to netanyahu going to come to regret their eagerness as the death roll of Palestinian children rises inexorably. It's been estimated that a child is killed ever 10 minutes ( as seen on Al Jazeera.
  12. Given the israelis have their own drones permanently over Gaza, one wonders why the americans need to join in? It's astounding that Blinken is talking to Abbas about taking over Gaza "after" when the PA is widely condemned by Palestinians for collaborating with the israelis. Even talking about "after" was an abomination while Palestinians were being slaughtered as Blinken spoke. Even Abbas saw it as a step too far and said that it might be considered when Palestinians have their own free state ie probably never in his lifetime. Seems Blinken went home with nothing to show for his waste of jet fuel mission.
  13. Had Idi been an israeli, you would likely be accused of anti semitism.
  14. Some on here probably don't like other men talking about uni students, as they probably think they are all innocent virgins. 5555555555555555
  15. He apparently doesn't know that the precious petals he is so concerned about were ( at least some years ago ) renting their <deleted> to business men in Siam Square for money to buy an i phone or such like. It was exposed in the newspaper I can't mention or quote on here.
  16. Some posters live in a woke world where just looking at a female is deserving of scourging and dismemberment. Luckily we can ignore them on here. If he didn't like your comment, then he's going to hate me for saying that the top floor of MBK was a delightful place to hang out. There's something about attractive girls in blouses 3 sizes too small and micro, micro mini skirts............. Of course they don't wear them to be sexually provocative, as they are so demure that the thought never crosses their pure as driven snow minds. It's probably so there is less material for mummy to wash, bless. One has to feel sorry for any male teachers' professors they had though, with all that pulchritude on show in the classroom.
  17. Re my Jagger comment................................ PS https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/music/a19125/mick-jagger-70th-birthday/ It was all the way back in 1975 when Mick Jagger famously told People magazine, "I'd rather be dead than sing 'Satisfaction' when I'm 45," so with his 70th birthday today and a Stones tour that wrapped just a couple of weeks ago where "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" was most definitely on the set list, he's still breaking that promise a full 25 years after that original cutoff date.

  19. I still remember an interview Jaggar gave in which he said he couldn't imagine being in a band after about 40 or something like that. If I remember correctly he was even a bit derogatory about old rockers. They must be about the only long existing band that kept making the same sort of music while making it relevant to the decade. Even Fleetwood Mac, the best long existing band EVER, went through different phases and members ( yes I haven't forgotten the unwanted Stone, but that was almost at the start ). The early music when Peter Green was in the band was completely different to when the females joined, though it actually got better then.
  20. Does anyone really care about a band that used to be famous now? Personally I hated almost everything after they discovered LSD, and just about everything Lennon made after the Beatles died. However, actors and singers and artists should be marching on every AI machine with pitchforks as it's going to destroy their livelihood. Why bother putting up with petulant bands that think they are special, when a machine can make new songs that sound just like them- likewise for actors, and even painters, writers, glassblowers etc etc etc.
  21. That particular variation was an unknown quantity to my explorations in the more exotic parts of Bangkok or Phuket for many years ( I never went to Pattaya for a long time, to my eternal regret ), and even after it was not a universal delight, as not all even knew how to do it.
  22. If you are right about older being better the lasses at Virgin's corner on Transit Road should have had their customers singing the Hallelujah chorus. For those that don't know where Transit Road is, Google may assist.
  23. I've always held the opinion that if one goes to a foreign country and finds it boring, the problem is within, rather than the place one has moved to. It's like the posters that complain that Thailand is boring. If they got their head outside and had a look around, Thailand is certainly one of the most interesting countries I've ever been to, with something new around every corner. I guess warming the same bar stool day after day probably does get boring.
  24. Thai people speak better English. LOL. Go to a foreign country and expect them to speak English! The difference I expect is that while Thailand people depend to a certain extent on English speaking tourists, I doubt most Japanese gives a rat's bottom about English speaking tourists. BTW, the Japanese people I have met outside Japan have no problem speaking acceptable English.
