  1. That's true. It hasn't been occupied, but it has been under siege and bombed fairly frequently. Not something one wants to do if one wants to live peacefully. BTW, the Israelis only left because it was militarily impossible to remain. They didn't leave out of any sense of fairness. The Israelis may very well re occupy it, but they will face the same problems that made them leave before, unless they behave in a way that forces western countries to stop turning a blind eye to the illegal occupation and suppression of the Palestinians.
  2. Some of us know why you've been under attack for 75 years and think your lot is getting pay back for that.
  3. Hamas is a consequence of Israeli occupation and suppression of the legal occupants. Perhaps some on here would prefer Palestinians to be sheeple .
  4. That applies to me with my opinion on any western media that I have access to. To say they are biased would be an understatement. The only one I look at is Al Jazeera, as they are not western and also not depending on advertisers.
  5. No argument on any of that from me. I doubt any on here that are posting in LOS turned up in a leaky rubber boat devoid of papers expecting to be given a hearty welcome on arrival, with free accommodation on offer.
  6. The Sinai was never part of modern Israel, and they lost it in the last Egyptian campaign anyway. As for the West Bank, what on earth are you smoking? It was certainly never "vacant" land, unless you think Palestinians don't exist. It wasn't included in the UN agreement creating Israel because it was full of Palestinians.
  7. IMO it is the actions of men with absolutely nothing to lose by doing so, which is on Israeli illegal occupation and suppression of the legal occupants for decades. Perhaps they think it's better to die taking some Israelis with them than to live like sheeple. I certainly don't think they thought they had any hope of "winning", against the Israeli military. At most they may get some prisoners released in a prisoner swap. As for the expected casualties among the Gaza population, if one understands their mentality, one understands why they have disregarded the likely consequences. Also, if one wants a ready supply of young men for the struggle, Israel is their best recruiting tool in fomenting hatred for that nation.
  8. That's what happens when a bunch of western countries decides to use the UN to take someone else's land without consent. Having defeated the Arab countries, Israel didn't return to the area given to them, but continued to illegally occupy Palestinian land and build illegal settlements on it, while suppressing the legal occupants.
  9. That terrorism label goes both ways in that unfortunate region, IMO.
  10. If you want to get into a contest about who kills more than the other side, I know that the Israelis win the death total easily.
  11. Shame on the Egyptians that are colluding in the suppression of the Gazans.
  12. I remember dead Gaza children from the last time Israel attacked them from the air, so your last sentence back at you.
  13. Not entirely true. Israel is supported by America and EU, while Palestinians are supported by ?????????????
  14. and Israelis have murdered Palestinian people, women and children included, so they cannot complain about any response to their war crimes.
  15. I suspect a great many. Many are not fans of the west and especially not of Israel.
  16. If they don't join in I'll be extremely surprised.
  17. If they do that and thousands of Gazan's die of thirst, how does that impact the Israeli story of being the eternal victim deserving special exemption from international laws? If they do go too far, the carefully constructed alliance with Arab states will likely be a dead duck, and that's just for starters. When the pictures of dead Gaza children start being circulated on social media how long before western governments can no longer justify excusing Israeli flouting of international laws? Israel has more to lose than Gaza people in this situation.
  18. The weapons come in through tunnels from the Sinai, which is not under Israeli control, and Hamas would have been well aware of Israeli stooges/ spies and probably killed them.
  19. I expect that man will be relishing the opportunity to send the military into Gaza to destroy as much as possible. I heard him on tv saying they are going to target every corner of Gaza and the people should leave now, which I assume is code for "if you don't leave you'll likely get killed". Where he thinks they should go to was unsaid. If he does lay waste to Gaza, it doesn't bode well for the hostages held there.
  20. While I accept that people have different opinions of what makes a nice beach, I include what is behind the photographer. If it's concrete end to end, it's not a nice beach IMO. I've been on too many encroached beaches in LOS to be a fan of concrete. Hua Hin is the epitome of destroyed beach, if one has tried to walk along it at high tide. That's south of the city where the high rise buildings encroach below high tide, as no one is going to destroy the part where the palace is. I ended up only going to the north and north east of Phangan as it had the least developed beaches that were easily reached. I expect that even they have been ruined by now. However, none reach the level of horror that I experienced on Penang's beaches, but I didn't normally go to Penang anyway. First went in the 70s when there was minimal tourist development, and not again till about 2017, when it was paradise lost.
  21. That budget is junk, IMO. Visa agents do not cost monthly. They are only needed 4 times a year, and prices vary, food costs way more than that, Not everyone owns a m'bike, alcohol intake varies depending on the individual, don't need a phone. Not everyone lives in a condo, and I paid 5,000 a month for a room in Pattaya, 15,000 for an all included hotel room in Chiang Mai. My monthly cost not including insurance and visa deposit was average 30,000 baht.
  22. During that transition no one was saying the world would end if they didn't replace horses.
  23. and in those 40 years governments did nothing to prepare. You are right in that I will probably never believe that climate change is caused by my car.
  24. Ah the brave new world strikes again making things worse, not better. Luckily my W7 machine works fine with a built in disk player. I think W10 plays disks as long as I use an external drive as the case is too slim for a disk drive.
  25. Thank you for the quick reply. I'm not good enough with computers to take the chance of just trying in case I make it worse, and it's not worth paying someone to do it.
