I thought it would have been closed ages ago. Perhaps someone wants to know why so many long time posters just don't bother any more, and never found out because it couldn't be discussed. I still won't go too far though, and still won't discuss that which can't be discussed.

LOL. If there was no "toxicity" on the forum I wouldn't be on my 3rd page of ignored posters. Had to put another one on that just had to put personal abuse in his post. I used to put up with it, but now I just make them vanish. Reduces the number of posts that I can respond do, but when it's abuse why bother? I don't do it for just one or two abusive posts but when it's all the time or really bad I do.

The non working expat community has always been ageing given the difficulty of living in LOS under 50. The golden days of working expats was before the economic crisis end of last century. Nah. People are nuts regardless of the cause. None of us are mentally perfect. Some people are evil, but we all started out the same from the womb. A good psychologist would find multiple mental problems in anyone. IMO if anyone is claiming that they are normal, or mentally perfect they are nuts.

Life is too short to be serious on everything, and IMO the Pub is too restricted, and more discussion of the sort of silly things one might say in a real pub allowed. The Lounge is already restricted, but subject to the same level of moderation as other subforums, so not used as it should be, with topics that should be on the Pub instead. My main problem is that abuse is too often allowed to stay. I've even reported abuse that was allowed to remain. Another problem is that some posters make it about other posters, IMO baiting them, to try and get them suspended.

I think they are just happy to have posters at all. I've seen many many good posters leave the forum for reasons I can't discuss. For those very reasons I've had a love hate relationship with TVF/AN and come close to leaving a few times myself. I'm still here, as it's US election time, so the fun is about to start, but before that I barely posted at all for a long time.
