  1. There was a Quatermass series on TV many years ago that dealt with just such a premise. Whenever humans replicated to sufficient numbers they were harvested by means of a beam sent from their planet that transmitted human meat to them. Pretty good series too.
  2. IMO there is more to the laws of the universe than our primitive science has been able to discover, and an older intelligent species may have done so. Which means that we may actually be under observation to prevent us leaving the planet to spread our violence elsewhere. Those that have read Dune know of what I speak regarding interstellar travel, though without needing spice. Apparently we use just a small part of our brain, so who knows what possibilities exist if we could use more of it. In the universe, anything is possible, even if it is unknown to us humans that emerged from the caves a mere 50,000 years ago; just a blink of a cosmic eye.
  3. Given that there are billions, if not trillions, of planets in the universe, I'd be interested in your reasons for believing that we are the only civilized species. Of course that would involve accepting that not all life forms would resemble humans.
  4. When I said that about the retained documents situation, I was assured by your side that it was necessary to get as much info as possible before proceeding. I guess that is as good a reason as any in this case.
  5. Ooh, you are bringing sense into the discussion. Shouldn't you be going on about how the orcs are going to get beaten any day now? Some were saying that a year or so ago, but any day now keeps getting postponed.
  6. Their spirit returns to the creator, just like ours do. Our bodies are just a biological transport machine for "us". Bodies die, the spirit is eternal.
  7. Hitler was probably the Allies biggest weapon. The debacle of Barbarossa was mostly caused by his interference in it when he didn't know what he was doing. Even when it was obvious they were losing he did not allow a retreat, which resulted in the loss of thousands of hardened German troops. For anyone interested in it, Barbarossa by Stewart Binns is an excellent resource.
  8. Oh dear, I consider myself well and truly punished. I'll go to bed without supper then.
  9. Thank you for pointing that out. Americans like to think they won WW2, but they had John Wayne on land sea and air to do the job, and I doubt schools taught them about the Russian part in it.
  10. What full on attack? Barbarossa was from June 1941 to December 1941. D Day was in June 1944 I'd love to discuss with you about Barbarossa, but not on this thread where it's off topic.
  11. I may discover the reason after I die and return to the creator, but there are no burning bushes where I live so I can't answer that.
  12. I was referring to Vietnam. The number of deaths was the hint. As for Afghanistan, decades of war, countless deaths, untold amount of treasure and it's now as if the war had never happened- back to square one. When are US politicians going to wise up and stop sending young men to die in futile conflicts?
  13. and there are people that think it was all just created by accident.
  14. In that case why not go back to the time when Russia was created? BTW, despite American opinions, Russia probably won the war against Hitler at the cost of some 40 million citizens. Without Barbarossa the war in Europe would have likely dragged on for many more years, and the entry of Russia into the Pacific war may have persuaded the Japanese to surrender.
  15. Go Mr Trump go, and expose the politics involved in bringing this case at this very point in time. I hope he gets damages when the case against him personally is dismissed.
  16. I wonder how many conflicts the US has been involved in since WW2? I'm sure it's not much less, and possibly more than Russia.
  17. It always amuses me that posters such as yourself profess to know everything about me. Prove that I wasn't successful with women. If I preferred Thai prostitutes it was because I didn't like western women romantically. I didn't like playing their demented games, and the non prostitute western woman I unfortunately thought was "the one" ended up costing more than prostitutes.
  18. In the 90s Thailand really was the land of smiles. By 2013 the smile had long gone.
  19. Many of today's "facts" are next year's "non facts". Science is never "settled" except in the situation where a great deal of money depends on theories being "facts" I'm sure that a scientist in the dark ages could "prove" that the sun revolved around the earth. Didn't scientists think space was a void till they discovered dark matter? The only scientific "facts" that I agree with are the ones that are obvious, like gravity causes objects to fall down to the ground, and the sun rises in the east.
  20. No I don't. I'm with the CO2 rises due to increased temperature theory. Yes, we pollute our environment and we should stop doing so, and one way to do that is to use more nuclear power, but that has been ruled out, so we are condemned to more years of fossil fuel powered electricity, even in NZ where Auckland relies on a fossil fueled power station.
  21. Neither of those are what I consider to be facts, despite the ardent wishes of those seeking to profit from the Chicken Little propaganda. That the increase in CO₂ is primarily due to burning fossil fuels and other human actions is not proven to the satisfaction of all scientists or laymen. The second quoted is just a theory, as the planet has not yet warmed to that extent.
  22. According to google they are about US$850,000 EACH. How many will they be supplying at that cost? https://kyivindependent.com/ukraine-comes-close-to-getting-atacms-how-will-it-change-the-war/ According to Borsari, other issues explaining the hesitancy could be the ATACMS cost-effectiveness per round, with a single missile costing around $850,000 compared to just $160,000 for a GMLRS rocket, as well as an evaluation of Ukraine's operational priorities. Even the long suffering US taxpayer will be wondering if it is worth it at that cost.
  23. It's not the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere that is under debate but the reason for it being there. Your side's case has not been proven. Next. Whatever the cause of climate change, governments are IMO doing sod all to deal with it.
  24. What the <deleted> are you on about? Do you think there was e mail when I was young? Do you think girls were that slutty when I was young? You must be too young to even understand what life was like in the 60s and 70s.
