Do we really appreciate how lucky we are?
thaibeachlovers replied to BritManToo's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I guess I just ended up in the wrong country then. I never found that in home country. Before the pill nice girls didn't and I left the country as soon as I could, so missed out on the age of "free love", if it even happened, which I doubt. Now, living back there, no young lady would give me time of day, let alone sleep with me, and I'm just not into grannies or solo mothers. -
Do you really think drugs should be legalised ?

Which is why I gave it up. I didn't like what happened when my inhibitions were removed. I've never claimed to be perfect. -
When in Thailand I never woke up and said to myself "<deleted>, I'm still alive".

Stone age man probably died by age 30. Most of our health problems are probably because we live too long. Mine are.

Thanks for the 2 replies on that. I never smoked tobacco and was always curious why people did. My first partner smoked before we lived together, stopped when with me and started again after I left. She claimed it stopped her gaining weight. -

It may be banned, but to think it is unavailable is erroneous. Super markets sell a lot of fruit juice nudge nudge wink wink. Guy I used to live with had a big plastic rubbish bin in the kitchen full of the stuff fermenting. -

IMO really. Lot of bad people where I live and they all drink lots and lots of alcoholic beverages. None of the nice people I know drink more than a beer or a bit of wine now and then. I used to drink, so I'm not talking as a wowser. -

Short of suicide, what choice do we have? BTW, was Sobibor a great place to live? -

You must drink different coffee to me then. I only drink coffee to stay awake. It never gave me a high. I have asked smokers if tobacco gives them a high, but never got an answer. Does anyone know? -

Yes, I had a L P book when I first visited LOS ( and it really was a land of SMILES, that's how long ago it was ). Went up to Chiang Mai and took a taxi to an hotel recommended in the book. Now, remember how the section on scams warned about taxi drivers saying the hotel one wanted was closed, so should go to one he knew about? So, when taxi driver told me the hotel was closed, I told him to go there anyway. Duly arrived at..... a closed hotel.......! I did get that hotel scam in Patong though. Taxi driver couldn't find the hotel I had recommended by a friend, so he asked a cop, who directed me to another hotel. Later on the same cop turned up at the hotel to get his cut. Later on I found the hotel I wanted on the same street as the cop was at first! Never trusted a cop after that. -

Sex trumps location every time. I categorically refuse to believe that I could have had as many young attractive bed partners in the US for the cost of that in LOS as a middle aged to elderly man. Also, I never felt a need to arm myself in LOS. -

Anyone that overdoses on such as heroin will likely die, and if people can have as much as they want for free................................. I never said that non drug users are "good". Dealers probably don't use their own product because they know what it does. The planet is not de populating, just advanced countries. Anyway, with, IMO, 5 billion too many people it's going to take more than a few deaths from drug overdoses to correct it. -
Before the tsunami of legal action against Trump just in time for the election season I also didn't want Trump to be president, as I stated on this very forum, but now I want him to win and get payback big time for it. My fear though, is that by him being the candidate we get the same ghastly characters back for another 4 years of disasters.

IMO Bush the younger was the worst that none will equal. How many deaths are he responsible for? -

On that we agree. Probably since Kennedy was assasinated. -

While it's waaaaaay off topic you asked, so- thousands of undocumented immigrants crossed the border causing huge amounts of un necessary cost to the taxpayer, and annoyed people in New York as the immigrants were sent there. Many skilled workers on the XL pipeline lost their high paying jobs and oil from Canada continues to be imported by rail. -

As probably well known I believe there are too many people on the planet. Legalise all drugs and give them out for free and the population will surely decrease. Any that are not of the mind set that it's better to be high than normal will live and be the better for their departure, IMO. -
My second choice would be the one most aligned to Trump's policies on immigration, and not starting wars. I don't care which party they are from ( I'd have voted for Kennedy, or Bernie ) as long as they were not beholden to big business or the military industrial complex.

Your advice for time-consuming not productive mind games is relevant, as I do take my mind off my troubles by going on this forum. -

LOL. Had I not actually lived in the UK for 10 years I might not have been able to laugh at that. While I have no doubt that the British rich eat well, as the rich do all over the world, for the avearge Brit the food they eat is either very average or overprocessed supermarket factory muck. Till I saw it I couldn't believe that Brit takeaway shops cook loads and leave it to moulder under some lights- ghastly muck. In NZ it's cooked when ordered. Asian food is great but not every day. White rice every day isn't a healthy choice because of the glycemic index besides the fact it would get boring Seriously, 55555555555555555! What did all those millions of Asians do without McDucks or KFC**p to give them tasty and nutritious food ( sarcasm alert )? Back before the great American junk food invasion Thais looked thinner and healthier on their white rice diet. We didn't eat whale meat or penguins in Antarctica. The US contingent at McMurdo ate the same junk they ate back home ( however, I did like real hot dogs and icecream ) and the NZ contingent ate the same food we eat in NZ, though whether it is any healthier than US food is debatable. We did once get to eat some seal meat as a special meal, but there were no requests for a repeat. -
If an alien force arrived on planet Earth and jailed every politician and government bureaucrat on the planet, one might suspect the rest of us would not be unhappy about that.

Not when professing to provide facts, but some "facts" are not actually "facts" as in when polls are used to support a position, but are just based on a very small sample of people, and we all know about polls, don't we, LOL?
