  1. And given that there are 60 odd million of them in the USA, rather a silly thing to do!
  2. I am sorry, but I fail to see the connection between a past Tory policy on "privatisation of housing provision" and "Landlords are being incentivised to evict private tenants (under section 21) to make way for illegal immigrants. "
  3. Just how well vetted was the Labour councillor currently (and it seems indefinitely!) awaiting trial for calling, in public, for throats to be slit?
  4. Thank you, I do try to live up to expectations.
  5. They don't have specific powers, but they do have considerable influence. It certainly appears that local councils, and the agencies which they control, have in the past used that influence to umh, curtail, the prosecution of the "grooming gangs"
  6. I haven't got any dolls, but I have got many more than 5 pencils! Of course I am a bit old fashioned, use a notebooks (paper not electronic) and my writing implement of choice is a B2 pencil!
  7. Well, I am a habitual Conservative voter, and I would vote for her. If you are right in that analysis then I am done with the Conservative Party. If that leaves me politically homeless so be it.
  8. Wow, thanks for that link! I was unaware of that site now you have revealed it I shall visit it regularly! It is so far from reality as to be absolutely hilarious!
  9. Perhaps, just perhaps, she had, at one time, her eyes on the Vice Presidency? Then certainly a post in cabinet. But the call never came - and with Congress effectively sidelined in favour of rule by Sharpie, she really hasn't any influence there either! Speaker Johnson, bendy man that he is, is no friend either. It is, in a way, something of a distinction - to be too bat sh*t crazy even for this administration!
  10. I admit that I don't like tattoos, and I find heavily tattooed women a major turn off. They are a current fashion, give it a few years and it will fade. See what I did there?
  11. There was an Old Man with a beard, Who said, "It is just as I feared!— Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren, Have all built their nests in my beard. With thanks to Edward Lear.
  12. East Germany and the Stasi came unstuck 25 years ago. All but the most junior members are retired old men, if they are still alive.
  13. The man is appalling.
  14. What about the long awaited Liberal Democrat revival? We haven't had one of those for quite a few years! Beards 0and sandals to the fore! There is yoghurt to be knitted!
  15. Possibly, certainly missed out on any bonuses for punctuation, grammar or use of capitals with proper nouns!
  16. Well certainly by you. You do seem to have definite, if perhaps somewhat extraordinarily partisan views on them, Democrats and their voters, very frothy mouthed! Tell us, do you have one of those transparent plastic covers on your keyboard, it might be a good idea!
  17. She does seem to be a looming presence when such decisions are being taken!
  18. No, they are just bystanders. Donald Trump is doing an excellent job of shafting the US economy, society and it's standing in the world, all on his own!
  19. Chocolate: TOPS is now very expensive. I have a weakness for the Ritter Sport Marzipan bars - a few months ago B89, now B119. Cadburys "bubbley" is now B48, yet 7/11 push it out for B33. The Ritter Sport of course is from Germany, Cadburys here is * think made in Malaysia. Coffee, as others have said, has gone up similarly. I find Lotus the cheapest. All my local shops have is those ghastly 3 in 1 sachets.
  20. I had. A search. The cheapest I could find were B79 (+delivery), which is the same as TOPS in Chiang Rai. Where do you get the from, if you don't mind telling me?
  21. Wonderful advertisment - worth wading through the OP nonsense to see it!
  22. I am a practising Catholic, (heaven knows I need the practice!), and a confirmed heterosexual, but even I can see the irony in an old celibate man, in a white frock and a hat like that warning against the influence of "the gay lobby"! My opinion, for what it is worth, is that Pope Francis tried to acknowledge, and find a place for, gay people within the Church, acknowledging and believing that they were amongst Gods children, and should not be turned away. It is perhaps fair to suggest that Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller does not view the gay community as charitably; cynically I doubt he views any views other than his own very charitably. I doubt that Pope Francis came to that stance without much thought and prayer; his formation was after all as a Jesuit, and The Society of Jesus is known for intellectual rigour and orthodoxy. Mind you, it is also worth bearing in mind that you can never be absolutely certain what the SJ is going to do next! Perhaps he (Pope Francis) was also mindful that he wanted to avoid the mess which the Church of England (or rather the worldwide Anglican Communion) finds itself in, various factions fighting to decide whether they want the next Archbishop of Canterbury to be male or female, gay or straight, celibate or at it like rabbits on Viagra!
  23. Desperation kicking in? Go for the ultimate MAGA panacea, the explanation for all their woes. Blame it on Hunter Bidens laptop!
