Why not take your new toy, smart phone, to where you bought it. Or, a larger phone reseller where a staff member might speak reasonable English. Ask for a tutorial & while they are at it, get them to load your music.
When I first came to LOS I was same as you, absolutely NO idea about such stuff. Went to a large AIS dealer & had them connect internet to my phone & at the same time give me a demo. Now have a bluetooth radio in my car & listen to radio from all over the world driving.
Don't give up, you'll really appreciate all the effort once you are all hooked up.

A couple of years back, when I relocated here to LOS, I tearfully parted with my Ford Falcon XR6 turbo. For those non Aussies it's a 4.0 lt factory turbo, OHC, straight 6.
Although I was on the very wrong side of 60, I still couldn't help myself. Bigger injectors, flowed turbo, additional fuel pump. Uprated intercooler & associated plumbing. Remapped computer. 90 mm exhaust. Was making 325 Kw at the wheels. That's 436 BHP. Well in excess of 500 at the flywheel.
My gonads were only big enough to 235 KPH. It was still winding up at that speed but I didn't possess the intestinal fortitude to continue.
Ah, the memories.

Rubbish ! On a regular basis I loan neighbours here in the village from 1000, to 10,000 baht. NO interest asked. Depending on the amount, I always get a small extra payment. Maybe only 100 baht on a small loan or 1,000 if 10,000 baht loan over a month or so.
I realize most here will think I'm crazy, but I have a great set of friends & neighbours & happy to assist where I can. My missus says that if the loan isn't repaid, the borrower would be looked down upon by all the village.
Contrary to popular belief, not all Thais are tarred with the same brush. I find the honesty of country people quite the opposite of "most" Thais in the cities & tourist centres.
But hey ... just my opinion.

Not quite true. My Aussie account was hacked a few years back. I was using a public, internet cafe in Pattaya at the time. Hacker drained my VISA credit card of the maximum. I wasn't aware till I returned to Oz. Bank advised me of the issue & refunded the full amount, plus 3 months interest free transactions on said card.
Just saying.

1. I have no intention of starting a petition. I simply posted the reply from 7-11.
2. I saw 2 issues in the original post. Plastic bags & no reply to e-mails in Thailand. I always get a reply to all my Thai e-mails, so I thought I'd see if 7-11 would reply, they did.
3. I'm certainly no tree hugger. I do accept plastic bags if the occasion warrants.
4. I use said plastic bags for bin liners.
5. I doubt if you have a monkey's arse to give ? Don't offer what you don't have.
6. Yes, millions are dying of starvation & disease. Maybe it's mother natures way of trying to slow the over population of the planet, who knows ?
7. If I were to campaign on any issue here in LOS, plastic bags would be way down on the list. Yes, there are far more important issues.
8. Sorry, I no longer have my Charger, & it wasn't white. A yellow mustard colour actually. But that was back in the 70's. V8, 4 on the floor, great car in it's time.
9. Lastly, with all the likes & positive comments, do you feel you just might be odd man out ?

David, mate... you ever hear about something called a backpack ? They come in various shapes & sizes. Even you could work out how to fit your 8/10 items in said bag. It just might take you a bit longer than most, but I'm sure you'd get there after a few tries. Next big revelation for you, try keeping said backpack under your bike seat.

Thank you kindly for your suggestions.
We share your concerns that plastic bags are harmful to the environment and would like to reduce them also. 7 Eleven stores have introduced a number of measures over the years to persuade both store staff and customers not to give / receive plastic bags for small items purchase.
Of course, there are still rooms to improve because some folks are different from others when it comes to environmental awareness vs. needs for something to hold many items, or fresh food / drinks. Over the years, the government and retailers have put in efforts to promote cloth bags. But check it out yourself, how many Thais carry them when shopping, not to mention how many they left at home !
In many countries, stop using, or charging a small fee for, plastic bags are possible by Law. It is law enforcement that curbs demands for plastic bag consumption. A case in point: you simply could not ask customers to stop smoking inside a restaurant, or an airplane. You have to make it a law.
To make it happen, we encourage you to send a petition to related authorities, e.g., Office of the Prime Minister (www.1111.go.th), The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (www.mnre.go.th), parliament members Facebook, or even your own embassy.
Once again thank you for your letter. Let me assure you that 7 Eleven stores have measures to educate customers and staff on plastic bags reduction vs environment. We will try harder on this. Last not least, you can help make it a law by writing to the above channels.

After reading & replying to the original post, 7-11 don't reply to e-mails, I took up the challenge. Sent 7-11 BKK, a "diplomatically" worded e-mail concerning the supply, use of plastic bags at their stores. Today I have received a positive reply.
I'm happy to post their reply, I trust a Mod will advise if this is ok ???
They suggest I start a petition & send to nominated government departments. They have provided addresses to send said petition.
So, Mods, members, is anyone interested ? Is it ok to post 7-11's reply to my query ?

My daughter in law went for her bike licence yesterday. Did all the academic test stuff. Has appointment for December 6 to go back for riding test. Even offering a "donation" couldn't get the riding test any sooner.
ID & medical certificate all that is required. As stated above, medical is a joke. 50 baht to receptionist & had certificate, "while you wait." No doctor in attendance.

Have you tried Tops bakery ? Here in Sakon Nakhon they usually have burger rolls, not so with the hot dog rolls though. Well, not exactly a burger roll as most of us know, but a bread roll that does the trick for me.
Have you found a local burger you like ? ask where they get their buns.
Just a thought.

This may not work for you, but it did for us. Went to local PEA office, we are in the sticks. Asked if they had an electrician that did "after hours work", yep, sure did. He was working in their planning dept, not on the tools anymore. But, very qualified & his work is as good as I've seen anywhere. Naturally he only works after hours, so emergency call out jobs, he's not the guy. But for rewiring & book ahead work, he's the best.
