Sorry, but I beg to differ. I've made numerous calls & sent many emails to the Aussie embassy both in Bangkok & Canberra. Never had a problem. Maybe it's how they are approached that determines the response.

Why not call Thai Air & ask ?

If it were me I'd be making a call to the Aussie embassy in Bangkok & getting it straight from the horses mouth. Or better still, email them & then you have their response in writing.

One night stand is ok if you sleep alone. A second night stand would be handy if you sleep with someone else. It's more pleasing to the eye if there's a night stand either side of the bed.

Google maps. Select your hotel to be shown on the map.  Surronding area will show land marks & such. Will be in Thai script. Take screen shot. Print.  If you feel the need highlight or circle your hotel in red. Give to taxi driver. I find works every time. Cheers.
