  1. I don tknow of any service thqat will do that iv been looking! the only option i can think of is just to divert all calls froma a thai mobile that will give you a thai mobile number the cheapest international calls are 4bath a minute with a true inter card... so providing you keep the phone topped up which you can do online i think you will forward calls from thai mobile to int for 4 baht minute.. not ideal but a option

  2. Do you have a european 3g phone or 1 brought here in Thailand.. the frequancy here is 850 compared to most other countries of 900 so if your phone isnt 3g 850 compatible then it wont work.. ie i have a k800i and its 3g but its 900 so it wont work..

I have a Nokia 6500 bought in Europe.

I'm getting really curios now to try it out, and would love to test it and post results. Small problem is though, that I lost my phone in a taxi in Bangkok in the weekend :)

We did call it though, and some nice lady picked up and had found it in the taxi, she agreed to send it to our office when I had transfered some money to her to cover the costs, so I did and now I can only hope I'm not being scammed.

Yep the 6500 will owrk http://www.yourmobilephonereviews.co.uk/no...ide_reviews.htm bit of a touch some1 finding it hey!!

Are you already using true for your phone then?? or you gonna get a true sim... nfor ther record i spoke to true and they said there is no extra settings if you use gprs then it will automaticly change to 3g and as its not offically out yet then there is no extra charge..

  3. Our office is right in the center of a big yellow spot on their map, and I have True as mobile provider. However I have never experienced anything faster than GPRS when connecting via my mobile (which does support 3G).

Would be interesting to hear other people's experiences as well, if they advertise with it, it must soon be functional. And we have seen a few times recently those "speaker-pickups" driving by advertising 3G coming to Hua Hin, I do think though that the one's I've seen have not been True, but another phone company.

According to true website 3g is all over Hua Hin http://www.truemove.com/en/05_service_3g_3_cha_um.html can anybody confirm this? lookin to stay and use it by tescos on the m,ain Hua Hn road and if you are using it is it fast enough for skype..

Your experience will be greatfully appreciated

  5. We are currently in touch with the Thai police in BKK(The ICD Dept) who (I am very pleased to say, take this matter very seriously). We stressed to them that we are a non profit-making organization for the benefit of Thailands tourism/ residents. They said that this type of crime is as damaging to Thai industry as DRUGS and harsh sentences will be given out (minimum 10 years was mentioned).

10 years blimey its not exactly HSBC bank.. just a local forum

  6. I cannot get a landline in because the landlord wont let me..

oh i see what you mean now, i tought you were in your own property, i had that problem too while choosing in which condo to relocate in Bangkok, the most of them wouldn't let you have your own dedicated line so i just took them off from my list and ended up in a place that suited me just fine, however, did you try to talk to your landlord about it? sometime they cannot relate the telephone line to the internet factor, try to explain him how much is important in your particular situation to get it installed, pushing on the factor that you might have to relocate soon if you can't get it or something.

Tried that.. we not havr internet you want internet you move out scenario..not vey helpful and iv been here nearly 3 years

  7. As another option, you could buy a 3G modem which supports 850 Mhz. (thatis if True has confirmed 3G coverage in your area).

    http://www.totalaircard.com/products/DTAC-...B-Modem%29.html

At 2,600 Baht about the same price as the wifi dongle you are looking at.

With the added advantage that if you have a laptop you can access the net almost nationwide!

AFAIK True's 3G coverage extends mainly along the Skytrain route...

That dongle is definatdely the way to go however True will not tell me if i have 3g or not all they say is that they are testing 3g and its not a rolled out service which is why if you subscribe to a gprs pakage and go manage to pick up 3g its free..

It could be a wast of 2600? I live phra khanong near the muslim temple..anybody know if 3g is there?

I cannot get a landline in because the landlord wont let me..its a private block which the landlord owns the whole lot and he has got a phone line in and then put extensions in each room but i indertsnd you have to have a dedicated line?

  8. Brought a Hutch ISDN (only 153kb no good for skype)

Make sure to check out if Hutch has the EV-DO network in your area. Not many places have it bu you might get lucky. Requires newer Hutch modem, but much better speeds (around the 1 Mbps mark).

Got a truewifi hotspot nearby(cannot connect due to not giving me IP from DHCP)

Signal strength enough? A high gain antenna might help you out here.

Got a K800i and phoned up true about 3g(k800i is 900mz where true 3g is 850 cannot connect).

Yup, True 3G is on an odd frequency. Yet might be worth it to get a phone (or dedicated modem) capable of that frequency.

Cheers for all your advice guys.. i already check hutch ev-do but not in my area so im gonna go and buy a 5db wireless adapter and antenn http://www.siammastershop.com/product_info...products_id/887

Anybody know of any other places?

  9. Im not sure if it is anything similar but i brought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago and sods law the only wifinetwork it wo0nt connect to is the one which i need it to.. on futher investigation my laptop is connecting and says connected but the router is not giving out a IP address to my laptop thus i cannot connect.

Iv doena search and there seems to be a workaround around http://www.windowsreference.com/networking...p-serverrouter/ im not sure if this is the problem your having but its worth a look. try checkin tpo see if you pc is getting a IP cmd>ipconfig /all

    good luck

  10. The normal fine is 2,000 if you admit to it.

If they catch you out it can be 4 0r 5 Thousand Baht and 200 Baht for every day you are late.

The law is 7 days before or after but there have been reports of certain offices making their own rules.

So if i actidently lose the piece of paper with the date and just fill out anothert 1? i am signing in a different area now anyway before it was Hua Hin now its Bangkok

  11. Hi..

  12. I was wonderign when this thread would come i.. the simple fact is that Win7 is the new OS or those people who dont upgrade then they are missing out, as much as xp was a solid OS its finished, its old news... why people go out and buy a new laptop, netbook, pc whatever and then say iv put XP on it very happy, you woulnt buy a car and put 7 year old wheels on it, these people are the same people who are security consisous a hackers dream, hackers are waiting for those grumps who dont upgrade because they know that MS wont be issuing anymore security patches so there flawless OS is as now open foranybody to spy in...

My reccommendation to all my fans is to upgrade as soon as possible and enjoy Win7, its the same as Vista apart from the desktop but at least its not called vista..

I personally loved vista and now 7

  13. just for the record i brought a samsung laptop r series from pantip last week 25k got 2gb standard and 2 extra free, borrowed a mates win7 ultimate who i know in pantip to test b4 i buy the real deal.. loaded 32 bit saw 2.9b then lucky for me the same disk had 64bit so loaded that on and saw all 4 gb..
