  1. Yep as I never went over to Vista. But I need a 64 bit OS now as XP 32 can only address 4 GB total memory which leaves me about 3 GB after my graphics card and other bits take up 1 GB. With a 64 bit OS such as Windows 7 it can address more memory than I could possibly want in the foreseeable future and runs faster too. Now waiting for a working hacked copy to become generally available (it wont be long !) as somebody said the pucker version is way too expensive to afford in Thailand with a weak pound especially :D:) Will wait a few weeks for any obvious bugs to become apparent though

Don't blindly buy Win7 64bit and just expect it to address 4Gb or more RAM. Be sure your chipset can also handle it.

A 64bit OS doesn't necessarily guarantee you can utilise more than 3Gb RAM... on either a PC or a MAC/Linux system.

Replyin to this on a 4gb win7 64bit that a 32 bit only saw 2.9gb;.. 64 can defo utlilise all of the memory, problems with wifi though

  2. I'm still using Windows 2000. Works well. What's the point of upgrading?

If you really are still using 2000 then your hardware will be lucky to run xp never mind win7

The time of 2000 you were high end p2, now adays that wouldnt do for my remote control

  3. A per previous posts iv got a pretty poor wireless signal where I am and no option for a phone line, iv read that getting a USB wifi adapter and 7 DB antenna will increase a signal up to 1.2km which should be good enough to find a wireless signal.

Anybody have experience of these? Do they work a lot better? And what sort of price should I pay.

    As always cheers in advance

  4. Ok im pulling my hair out on this one..where i live i cannot put a phone line in so net that way..

  7. I would NEVER use a copy I downloaded with Piratebay, with Emule or bought in Pantip. This simply is not fair and it is a very severe criminal act not supported by the US government!!! What bad people must this be doing such bad things. Never trust them. NEVER!!! Please format their HDs if you find them!

    Outrageous comment....

  8. Defiantely the wat to do it.. by a skype Thailand subscription 1st then get a online number andfoward the calls to your mobile that wil be free as it wil lbe in your subscription.. the reason to buy the subscription 1st is that you get a 50% discount on the online number if you already have a subsription

All in all it works out at 300bhat month fo rthe subscription and 400 baht every 3 months the online number..

  9. Ok an update for you guys..this ec 226 modem..

Iv just spoke to Hutch and they have said that they are testing it in certain areas of bangkok and if a customer knows about it and its on their soi then they will offer it but they dont advertise it..

they are hoping to roll it out in bankok end of the year for everybody..

In my case they dont have it but they have it on a small sub soi up the road so i wil have to make do with dog <deleted>

  10. Hey PS3 how did you manage to get such good sppeds, i have got a Hutch USB stick and the maxmimum it advertises is 136kb second in BKK!

You'll have the regular CDMA 1X modem which a maximim speed of 144 kbps.

Hutch has upgraded in some selected area's (Bangkok and Pattaya) to the CDMA EV-DO system, which if you have the proper USB modem allows theoretical maximum download speed of 2.4 Mbps. Practically you'll get between 500 and 1500 kbps...

how do they charge and what packages are available ?

particularly, if you want to get hold of such a new sophisticated CDMA-Modem-stick....

Not sure of the current promotion, good friend of mine paid 16,000 Baht for the new modem and 1 full year of unlimited internet access.

The EV-DO modems are rather expensive, I think that normally their unlimited internet package itself costs around 1000 Baht per month.

You'll have to pop into their office, as usual nothing is mentioned on their website, not even the slightest hint that they might have EV-DO! Only the standard MBI 1X (153 kbps) is mentioned...

Monty is that straight up about the EV-DO as im gonna be really really pissed if im paying 1000bh per month for dog shit when they have something better...i really need toget VOIP
