  1. Abhisit did not correct ANY bad thing from previous time.

Did not make any change on good. Fact.

Now come on, Stepenwolf. Just because you say so doesn't make it a fact. A few supporting articles, some wiki, etc., would go a long way to prove your point. Without those your 'facts' should be labeled 'opinions'. Please try again.

From your local Dutch uncle rubl ;)

No need to google it. It is real life and is not on google, uncle Rubl. thanks for friently tone, civilized manners in talk. But...

As i stated that, as counted all bad things under this governing team, perhaps you have some information about improved life in Thailand(in compare to previous Governments and time of Mr. T(h)aksin) so i would like you say that here.)

I said what negative things happened in time of this government and i will not say anything about visa regime for foreigners as it is more strict than ever ever before) but i am asking about things which this government made as good for people's daily life. Thai people.

Have some? Post it here please.

    Your nephew Step. :)

Now don't throw the ball back at me again, young Step. I didn't state anything, you did. I only asked you to provide some 'supporting info' for what you stated.

I'm not talking about 'visa for foreigners' either, just did my 90-day reporting last week.

  2. Maybe they are all hitting the road because the yellers just got hit with 17M US fine for occupying the airport - what would the damages from reds be?

When you want to put it that way, it's more correct to talk about the UDD leaders rather than MP's of the PTP.

Which reminds me, what's the status on lots of the UDD leaders who expressed desire to run for parliament as PTP MP. Have been been formally excepted, or is it another 'open' point?

  3. ok, but what about the 35 seats from Chalerm's expectation of 300?

Please pay attention, my dear chap:

Chalerm's expectation of 300 was way back on the 20th of July 2010. By the 22nd of the same month, same year, it was already adjusted (back) to 270.

"The spokesman said the party's goal was to win as many as 270 MP seats in the next election expected to be held early next year."

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/2010/07/22/politics/Northeast-Pheu-Thai-MPs-kowtow-to-Payap-30134321.html

  4. However another news source tells that deputy party leader Plodprasop Surasawadi has declared that PT will win 265 constituancy seats including 16 to 18 in BKK thereby being to form a one party Govt.

He also said thay Chavalit's resignation would make no difference as he was only a list MP and that no others would follow him.

whoopsy daisy.... watch your step Plodprasop...

In a related development, five members of Pheu Thai have also followed General Chavalit’s footstep by submitting their resignation as party executives.

    NNT 2011-04-18

The 'additional five' explains the expectation of 265 seats. Before the figure was 270 :)

  5. As i said i have no problem with a fair cop and any of you that cannot see that this is about destroying the grass roots movements from the north and installing the elites in perpetual power need to engage your brains instead of your other body parts.

The grass-roots up North were swallowed by the UDD which acts as k. Thaksin's non-political and partially violent arm. Read a bit about the history of the grass-roots and how they were manipulated by their own local rural elite, an elite still in power there. Please engage your brain, reading and learning helps :)

  6. When you accuse someone of not knowing what he writes about, you should give clear details why you do so. Giving a less relevant example concerning something not even mentioned doesn't cut it.

Try again or retract, IMHO :ermm:

it is impossible to give a reply without falling victim of Thailand's laws that put the judiciary above criticism.

Regarding Thaksin let us look at what he has been convicted of: he was convicted of corruption for following Thai law that says a spouse must sign if the husband or wife buys property.

This was despite two supreme court rulings that stated the relevant agency selling the land was independent from government! it is also a matter of record that Mrs Thaksin paid over the odds for this land at the time of the sale.

I have no problem with a fair cop and will go on record by stating that I never liked Thaksin but feel he has the moral high ground due to the coup and nature of the campaign against him

    On the land case:

"Thaksin had the 'authority and power as the prime minister to influence the outcome of the land bid,' said Thonglor Chom-ngam, chief judge"

With EVERYBODY in Thailand using the juridical system to file cases, requests, ask for investigation, etc., etc. something must be wrong for sure. Please tell all ;)

  7. Actually I disagree with most of the jubilant members in this forum, I think this will be bad for democracy and bad for Thailand. Government is about checks and balances, government and opposition. Whilst most Thai politicians are corrupt and self seeking, at least those on opposite sides of the floor could pounce on each other's corruptions. With a single party with a large majority it can do what it likes, and it will.

A coalition is just as bad, wheeling and dealing, demanding favours, just look at Italy.

I'm sorry folks, I'd rather see the devil in opposition than no one.

I'm neither red nor yellow but if PTP goes bust I am pessimistic about Thailand's future.

This is democracy at work, more-or-less. While I agree a single party with a majority of MP's would be bad for Thailand, that's unlikely to happen. Unlike the start of TRT with many small parties already bought BEFORE the election of 2001, now we'll have one (or two) bigger parties, a few medium and lots of small ones. Fine!

Most likely after the elections we'll see the Dem's being the largest single party, but having only about 35 - 40% of MP's. If PTP doesn't split up before they may get a similar number. If PTP splits it's unlikely PTP votes will go to Dem's. A coalition government will be the result with all the wheeling and dealing which goes with it, like in Australia, the UK, the Netherlands a.o.

Democracy, not perfect, but works for most people :)

  8. Col Tawan stated that the two have breached the bail conditions by joining an unlawful gathering of more than five people and must report to the DSI investigators April 25

I was in a bar with about 25 people during the period where gatherings of more than five people were prohibited, in fact on several occasions during that period.

Perhaps someone can let me know where to hand myself in so I can be arrested?

    Thanks in advance.

Assuming you do not have Thai nationality and it wasn't a 'politial gathering' even I would let you walk around freely :)

Even if he were Thai, he'd have to be out on bail with the bail conditions stating it was illegal for him to be there which was the most probably meaning of a VERY poorly crafted sentence.

Jeez, even more complicated than I thought. Mind you, my first (not posted) response to HighCommand's question was 'now don't you tempt me' :D

That's just the usual talking out his ass to keep it from sinking below the mud.

So he says, NOW that the 'Party Leader' has left, no one will follow him...

Ok, who was he leading before then?

Funny they used to say the brought in Chavalit because

'he brought in may powerful people and shored up the party'.

    Now his leaving does nothing.

    Plodprasop = Noppadom = Fartgasinmud

Someone probably still annoyed k. Chavalit didn't want to lead the 'Peoples Army' way back in February 2010.

  10. "Jatuporn vows to campaign from his cell if remanded"

How many times did this clown vow something, and actually do it???

Will someone please ask him to shut up!

With K. Thaksin ordering PTP MP's to distance themselves from red-shirts and not to take part in rallies organised by them, k. Jatuporn may have to decide what he wants to be: PTP MP, or UDD leader ?

    From today

    BREAKINGNEWS

Thaksin orders MPs to distance from red shirts

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has ordered Pheu Thai MPs not to take part in rallies organised by the red shirts in the wake of the resignation of Pheu Thai chairman Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, legal adviser Noppadon Patama said.

"Thaksin has been informed about and respected Chavalit's decision to quit Pheu Thai," Noppadon said.

  11. Full democracy is a longer term goal that can be worked on at a later stage as Thai society and its people evolve.

One of the goals of the current military led coalition is to prevent that from happening.

Excellent article in Time magazine today calling for Abhisit to show some backbone and stand up to the military over the refugee issues (and there have been many stains in his jotter since he became PM).

Some people need to waken up and realise he's not the saviour he's made out to be but either entirely complicit in the whole affair or a military puppet. I know which one my money is on.

Still in the usual anti-government mood, I see. Some people need to wake up to realise that apart from the two, negative, given choices there may be others. Like PM Abhisit is toeing the line between various power groups and doing reasonable under circumstances. Not easy with the main opposition party being controlled by a fugitive criminal on the run :ermm:

  12. Col Tawan stated that the two have breached the bail conditions by joining an unlawful gathering of more than five people and must report to the DSI investigators April 25

  13. you have no idea what you are talking about concerning the judiciary., and really very little concerning what Thaksin did or did not do as everything that Thaksin did was bad!

Let me give you one example concerning the lottery. Thaksins government put out a tender to computerize the system the system chosen was the same as used in the USA and UK , however, this government said it was unsafe and corrupt!

Really the lotteries in the US and UK are corrupt but the private lotteries run by powerful non elected officials for personal gain are not?

When you accuse someone of not knowing what he writes about, you should give clear details why you do so. Giving a less relevant example concerning something not even mentioned doesn't cut it.

Try again or retract, IMHO :ermm:

  14. Opposition keen to reassure Chavalit

    Didn't work it seems:

    BREAKINGNEWS

    Chavalit leaves Pheu Thai

Chavalit Yongchaiyudh has resigned as the chairman of the Pheu Thai Party and party member, it was reported.

TNN Cable TV reported that Chavalit has submitted his resignation as Pheu Thai member.

The TV station quoted a source as saying that Chavalit resigned out of his uneasiness that the red-shirt leaders mentioned the Royal Family during their recent rallies.[theNation][/theNation]

  15. ...

So I propose a truce on this forum, neither "side's" supporters/apologists/sad puppies (depending upon your viewpoint) react for or against any OP that is based on a "source" in the coming months - only real attributed news here thank you! If you want a slogan, "Think before you post - Is it real?".

Amusing to see 'think before you post' two times, but I must admit hiccups in a connection may cause that, had it myself a few times :ermm:

'Only real, attributed news here', the OP that is I assume you mean? Should reduce OP's, new topics by at least 95% or more. No undocumented opinions? Your request for (self-)control is not in the spirit of democracy and free speech. Shame on you, sir ;)

Only people who know what they talk about allowed to react? Closeted PAD / TPN supporter, are you  ?

  16. Your obsessive hatred of Thaksin has, not for the first time, caused you to lose focus and the last part of your post is simply unintelligible even taking into account English seems not to be your first language.I don't recall anybody stating Thaksin personally was admirable. It was his statement under reference that was admirable for reasons that Khun Vorani discussed in his article in the other paper, freely accepting the dubious motivation and hypocrisy involved.I commented that it was a great pity Abhisit had not made such a statement since there is good reason to believe he shares Thaksin's views on this subject (even though he is not innocent of playing political games with LM).

"It was his statement under reference that was admirable". Your opinion only, mine is 'not admirable as k. Thaksin only has these type of statements when his family, party, supporters are in problems'. When an opponent says something he doesn't like he sues them even from abroad :ermm:

  17. Jatuporn is in a filing mood.

The other paper has him saying his Reds will file charges with the NACC on Tuesday, April 19, against Abhisit and Suthep for using force against the Reds last April and May.

I wonder if he'll use Amsterdam's Absurd Paper "crimes against humanity" as a cut 'n paste for the filing.

As all should know by now, and as Robert A. just a week ago proclaimed again. Lest you forget how easy it is to say something over and over again till you start to believe it youself. Just some random snippets:

"A full year has passed since Thailand’s British-born Prime Minister, Mark Abhisit, sent his soldiers and snipers to Kok Wua to kill you, in an attempt to silence your calls for democracy. While PM Abhisit was successful in having many of your friends and comrades murdered ..."

"Less than one year ago, the military-backed regime, headed up by United Kingdom citizen Mark Abhisit Vejjajiva, oversaw the murder of some 91 protesters in order to avoid an early election it feared it might lose."

"Red Shirt pro-democracy protests of 2010, which were put to an end by a protracted bloody massacre and repression by government forces."

"Nostitz, who found himself closer to the violence of the state’s crackdown against protesters last year than any other foreign correspondent, has found that the depiction of the April 10th violence in our report to the ICC is largely consistent with his findings."

"Libya Can Be Investigated by the ICC, And So Can Thailand"

    http://robertamsterdam.com/thailand/

  18. It's amazing to think that even with such characters, they have a chance of winning the election.

Speaks volumes just how unpopular the Democrats have been in the North and North-East since the last Chuan administration.

Nothing in the OP speaks anything about upcountry or (un)popular Dem's, only about candidates for the PTP.

These candidates will be constituency candidates. If elected it speaks for the voters in those constituencies only. Mind you the way candidates are (self-)appointed speaks for the democratic aspects in the political party.

  19. there is a very nice article in the bangkokpost today, written by Voranai.

Enough of lese majestee accusations for political purposes.

Absolutely agree but must be pure coincidence that the Army initiated accusations ( Army, Army, Army.........) are just prior to an election.

Probably pure co-incidence. Mind you the UDD leaders speeches were on the 10th of April. It would be difficult for the Army to file charges earlier, now wouldn't it :ermm:
