Bar gals with Tats all over themselves, coloured hair, and designer nails, are too seasoned in the role and can read you and adapt themselves to make you believe them, even when their stories are very believable. I prefer the newbies, no tats, black silky hair, short nails and poor story skills, they are keepers. The old saying is that under 6 months working a bar, you have a chance over 6 months, it is too late they can tell your cash situation just by how you walk. The older saying from up country is if she colours her hair, and paints her nails she is a bad girl. caught my one early and we have been married 25 years!

Strange if your extension reads Thai wife, then it isn't an extension it should be a new visa extension as Non-O related to marriage to a Thai wife. If the extension is Non B then it is related to work and is subject to being employed with a work permit. It sounds like they have made a serious error in your passport that you should get cleared up by them. Non O marriage. and isn't affected should you work or stop work.

Single-entry tourist eVisa from London
phetpeter replied to NanLaew's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Coming to Thailand from nearly any country in the world doesn't require a visa application, you would be given 60 days on arrival plus I believe that could now be 90 days, an extension can be got at an immigration office or a short road trip across into Laos, etc. will get you a new entry also. -
British yoga teacher stranded in Bangkok airport over passport tear
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Look at the state of her passport, when travelling, this is one of the most important items you carry, mine is in passport cover inside a ziplock bag. and stays put away and I carry a small homemade version photocopied with the passport page on one side and visa stamp on the other side, laminated so it's like an ID card. It works well for ID purposes and should an official require to see the real thing, then its not a problem to bring it out. but, that never happened. Her passport looks like it has been on every beach, bar, and bed with her. -
Thailand to reclassify cannabis as illegal by 1 January, 2025
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So, growing is legal, but buds and flowers are illegal, so growers can produce but, must remove those parts of the plant that are illegal, hmm, how is that going to work? so, the law will use this as a whitewash, let's hope people and sellers understand that allowing people to smoke or use outside and be potheads in public will not be permitted, and if the potheads had done that in the first place, this law would not have come about. Still, if they read between the lines it is just a cover to rein in the idiots, as it is wrong to walk around necking beer in certain areas. The police ain't gonna be kicking your door in unless you are being foolish, and turning your den into a full-on pot den, those some will! -
Why do so many people like Pattaya but hate Phuket?
phetpeter replied to susanlea's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Phuket is like an oversized village which caters mainly for tourists and cruise ships, it only great feature is access to some bays and islands, the entertainment is just for tourists and overpriced. Pattaya is a city with everything for tourists and Thais, great shopping, buckets of restaurants from around the world, various entertainment to cater for all, and good transport locally. So, what not to like? Just a shame first the Russians and now Indians trying to run everything, till their money runs out. running night clubs in walking street and so many empty Indian restaurants. still it is just the wheel of lost fortunes and it turns slowly but, surely. -
British Couple Outraged Over £9 Tin of Heinz Beans in Thailand
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is a company in Pattaya making and selling Aussie pies, at the expensive price of 150 baht and up, and there's a company making British-style pies at 75 baht and up. The only difference between Heinz baked beans and Ayam baked beans (English recipe)is that Heinz only uses one sized bean and the other uses all the beans and is cheaper and tastes the same. SO! shop around there are some great deals around. -
That is strange, I always go to the local police station, and they will give me a confirmation letter of my address with my name and passport number. They never ask for money, but we always take some cake. Once a year when I have my extension done,(not at the local office) I then visit the 90-day officer at my local immigration, to reconfirm my address with the police letter although I have never been asked for it, after that 90 days are always done online. Renewal of driving permit etc, always used yellow book or ID Thai pink ID card.

Thais have to have special haircuts called the wind sept look, it seems to be very fashionable with young Thai men that fly down the road on their micro-thin wheels and unbaffled 2 stokes with no crash helmet -
Krabi Airport Taxi Rip-Off: 20km Trip Costs Tourist 2,500 Baht
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
I understand that all place passenger services have to display the fare to the required destinations, again it is down to the police and airport authorities to make sure the law is followed, oh! sorry did I say the police...' my bag!' Oh, foolish of me to think that should/might happen. even through it works at DM and swampy in BKK -
Older Diesel Cars to Undergo Stricter Inspections to Curb Pollution
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is not just older diesel trucks, but, modified trucks with bigger bore exhausts etc., as they forget to retune the fuel system so on acceleration they throw way too much-unused fuel into the system, easy to spot from the soot stains on the rear, low profile tyres and lowered suspension. but, asking the highway police to do anything is unlucky as they have their eyes on the prize truckers going about the normal business. -
Thaksin Requests Attorney-General to Review Lèse Majesté Charge
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It seems next week is a big day at the courthouse. If he walks and the same for the PM, the MP should also walk seeing as the PT are suggesting something very similar to what they were proposing. IF MP gets taken out and the rest walk, The country will get very angry. -
Two good reasons for the delays, one is the company is saving money by employing the lowest number of workers it can get away with, and secondly not working 24 hours to finish the job, if they lose the contract who is going to finish it? Just look at the photo how many workers can you see? I see only 2!

Thai Tourism Revenue to Hit 3 Trillion Baht, Falls Short of Goal
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Best to blame the airlines for high prices along with hotel prices and then high charges for food, goods and other services. they work on the fact that fewer tourists come so, charge them more for the shortfall, instead of the tourist returning home and telling others of the good value they go home and tell others about the costs and poor service they get for their money. -
German Tourist's Fatal Fall at Pattaya Hotel Shocks Visitors
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
It would be an expense but, they could fit wire cable across the balcony placed every 6 inches which would stop accidents, and still allow sunbathing on the balcony. But relate that to the number of accidents etc., it is unlikely. same as certain car models in the past. It is cheaper to pay out than the cost of prevention. The best answer is to mandate it in law for future buildings and refits. -
Singapore turbulent flight: Aussie survivor’s desperate plea
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe not 3rd party insurance, but, they will cover the cost, But the airline is a large famous company, and I am sure will take care of its customers and will not start penny-pinching, unlike US companies who would rather find fault in its passengers, by stating that passengers should be strapped into their seats unless that can prove the seat belt light was on, before the drop. -
Singapore turbulent flight: Aussie survivor’s desperate plea
phetpeter replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He was shot down in flames, the airline will cover all hospital charges with their 3rd party insurance, his ploy was to start a fund-me scheme, and got stopped before he could get the newspaper to write it up. Now, wait for others to try a get-rich scheme and want to sue the airline. The lawyers are in the traps waiting to be released. The airline is just waiting to block that for sure. -

Just what is life like in Rural Thailand- ever wondered ?
phetpeter replied to CharlieH's topic in General Topics
You don't have to go stone age to live upcountry, I have lived in Phetchabun for 20 years. and we have all modern equipment, a perfect medium-sized single level 3 bed house, access to decent lotus, Big C and Makro, etc., all within a 15-minute drive. No railway, No flights airport. and the only way to get here is by bus or car. We live in a housing estate, not in the village mainly the reason is being built in the village you will never be able to sell should you want to leave and falling out with people in the village will make things difficult. Never live with or near her family, put at least 25 kilometres between you and them plus don't try and go native, it isn't what your woman wanted that's why she left in the first place, even if she says she is now happy because you are with her. When times go slow or you have to reduce money outgoings, it will become harder for you and any kids. Going anywhere else in Thailand makes it an adventure and a reason for a holiday. But, life is good, the people are good, and all legal paperwork needs are easy, if you listen, read, and ask. -
How does the pay by QR code work on Lazada or Shopee?
phetpeter replied to redwood1's topic in General Topics
If you are that worried do COD, and when the delivery arrives the driver will give you a QR code to scan, which shows the price to pay, the same as when you buy petrol. No big problem stop you from using your card and the details being used by naughty people. I carry no more than 500baht and pay using QR nowadays for everything including massage! -
Advice needed: Scammed by seedy Visa Agent
phetpeter replied to asiasurfer's topic in General Topics
Any decent agency would never ask for all the money upfront, a deposit and progress reports paying as required or 50% down rest on competition. won't do that move on to another that will and if required show proof of past dealings.
