Two People Injured in Motorcycle-Pickup Collision in Sri Racha
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Why do they state that those on the motorcycle are Thai? Would we ever read in the UK they were British, or in the US they were American, or in Australia that they were Australian. Weird reporting. -
No official announcement. Never happened. Nothing to see here. Reminds me of an incident there 20 or more years ago when a THAI airways plane was landing in bad weather and the plane ended up off the runway. I read that the pilot faced no disciplinary action as 'it would hurt his feelings'. Same thing here perhaps?

Teenage pregnancy is bad, but lack of support system is worse
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Weird, isn't it. Sex is something that everyone does (in one way or another ) and is essential for human survival, yet no-one talks about it. We even say 'slept with' instead of had sex with. -
Tragic accident highlights gun control concerns in Thailand
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
I suppose just firing into the air never occurred to him? Another brain-dead idiot with a gun. -
I've often done a land border back and forth to/from Savannakhet, returning within an hour or two. Never been a problem. I've also made overnight trips to Singapore and KL. Also never been a problem. There's a decent enough hotel connected to KL by a walkway. and of course you have various dining options in the terminal. Never a problem going in and out within 24 hours.

Of course accidents happen everywhere. But I believe I'm right in saying that Thailand has 10x the number of road deaths as the UK as Thailand, with the same population numbers. That's a fact and has nothing to do with racism. I do acknowledge, though, that the majority of road deaths in Thailand involve motorcyclists. And that leads to another way of reducing road deaths in Thailand. You don't think that having a proper driving test might help? I still blame the drivers who have no need to demonstrate an ability to drive before getting a license. And motorcyclists who don't have the common sense to drive safely. And that isn't racism. It's the culture of not being able to anticipate the consequences of their actions, a result of being discouraged from thinking while in school, only repeating what thewy are told without question.

Then how do you explain the fact that most drivers manage to negotiate the roads without crashing into others. It has nothing to do with road design, but everything to do with road users. Most can do it safely, some can't. Reservations are designed to avoid cars driving into cars coming from the other direction. That is their only purpose (although that then leads to the deadly U-turns). But Thai drivers need more than the safety central reservation to avoid hitting others. High fences might help, but even then I had a car fly through the top of a tree opposite my house. Thai drivers are very inventive and can defy the laws of physics.

The Non-Story of the Day Award goes to.... But electrical wiring bursting into flames? In Thailand? Must be fake news. But it did remind me of when I was at home in the UK, and I went upstairs to the toilet. And as I went to go back downstairs I noticed that in a room I passed the cord hanging the light from the ceiling was on fire. It had only just happened as it was okay when I passed on the way to the toilet, but you can imagine the consequences if I'd have 'held it in' and stayed downstairs. Talk about lucky timing!

Thai Airways investigates cabin crew incident – ‘Tray Gate’
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I can answer that. I was on a THAI flight from Dubai to Bangkok when a fight started between two passengers, one of whom had considered that the other had pushed his seat too far back. Instead of dealing with it the crew vanished to the back of the plane and it was left to other passengers to intervene and quieten things down. -
You asked what he was complaining about. He complained that there were no signs in German (or any other international language). I have no idea what the correct fine is so didn't answer that part, but I don't think he was questioning the amount of the fine, only that, as the article so diplomatically put it, 'officers may have broken policy by not writing a proper ticket'. Does that answer your question?

Five Excise Officers Acknowledge Charges over Alleged Extortion
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Everything we are told about Thais is a lie, which two-week tourists go away believing. Those who live here know it is very, very different, which is possibly why those in authority don't like us being here, because we talk about it. Close families is one example, where we read daily of murders within. Thais are gentle, smiling people, while over and over again we read of Thais attacking Thais like a pack of rabid dogs. Rampant corruption (Thais cheating Thais) at every possibly level, from top government officials through the police and local officials all the way down to motorcycle taxi drivers. Thais are no better than other nationalities, and in some cases a great deal worse. -
Swedish man suspected of running sex network in Thailand
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Try reading the comments again and stop repeating the same BS. You can interpret victims the way you want. You wrote: So he banged 4000 girls, yeah right. The article says: The man is charged with serious child pornography offenses and gross illegal invasion of privacy. At least 4,000 victims, mainly in Thailand, has allegedly been secretly recorded in connection with video calls. No mention at all that he even met any of the victims, let alone 'banged' them. You clearly have poor comprehension skills. But interpret it any way you want, if you don't mind being seen as an idiot. -
Thai Airways investigates cabin crew incident – ‘Tray Gate’
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The same thing has happened with me, maybe more than once over the years. Food tray not taken away before landing. They have hours to serve and clear away, but everything is left until the last minute until they run out of time. Sound familiar? It's the Thai way.
