  1. Wouldn't it be interesting if France boycotted the Paris Games.
  2. Except that I believe the head of the Anti Corruption body was found to be corrupt. There is no escape from the cancer.
  3. They don't? They still come in their millions, tens of millions. Which is why the Thais don't give a rat's fart about any complaints, even if they often pretend they do - for a day or so until the news has moved on and it's all forgotten. Again.
  4. Better than these. The reason he gave sounds okay, for a short distance. Just another example though of Third World Thailand.
  5. Now that's a first. Someone follows up a story. Not that the follow-up actually says anything of substance, but it's a start I suppose.
  6. Most people if they don't get on with their boss swallow it or change jobs. Most people don't kill them.
  7. You didn't read this part, or didn't understand it. The chief promised fairness to all sides and legal and disciplinary action if guilt is proven.
  8. I'll remember that next time I see the police standing by doing nothing as they watch all the drive violations such as kids on bikes, using the wrong side of the road etc. And on the subject of drugs, there is a house opposite mine that is clearly a place where drugs are sold. The police know of it, but do nothing. My brother-in-law is a policeman and I asked my wife what he actually does, and she has no idea.
  9. The Taiwanese actress said they were prevented from calling or filming. The 'rules', the advice, in this article doesn't relate to the real world and frightened and intimidated folk going about their innocent business - unlike the police. If Thailand didn't have a police force it would cut the crime rate by half.
  10. In Thailand they merely scam you for money. In the US they kill you, sometimes even while knowing they are being filmed.
  11. Would these be the illegal items that are not illegal in any other country, as far as I am aware? The ones that are openly on sale in tourist areas? The ones which many dozens, if not hundreds, of Thais use in the nightclubs of Bangkok every single night? Those ones?
  12. Yes. Never happened to me anywhere in the world, and I've travelled to around 35 countries. Nor have I seen police walk through entertainment areas in numbers, nor have I seen them close bars early just because they can and for no other reason. At least it gives tourists something to tell warn their friends about when they get home.
  13. Perhaps he hasn't noticed that the countries that are poorest are the same countries where corruption is highest.
  14. The law in Thailand is whatever the man in the tight brown uniform says it is. Try disputing it and see how far you get (not you personally).
  15. Just imagine if they buried the cables as they do out there in the real world, instead of erecting these nasty, dangerous poles that act like magnets to any Thai-driven vehicle...
  16. Same all over the world, isn't it? And it isn't only in hotels that 'staff' are difficult to recruit here. So I've read
  17. And the teachers did what? Summons the parents to the school?
  18. They are even more confused when they see these illegal products on sale in tourist areas and freely used by Thais in nightclubs.
  19. Isn't that reserved for the roads where Thai drivers avoid taking responsibility for the casualties? Yes. But I haven't read it for a long time, probably since before Covid. Strange.
  20. I have a copy of Life magazine that I found in a shop selling such things in a back street in Stockholm, and it contains an advertisement for the debut of the 747. The most noticeable thing about the magazine though is the number of cigarette adverts. Times change. I flew it many times, and it was great to use the upper deck, which in the early days had only about a dozen seats. A unique experience. And one time my wife and I flew back from London on one, using THAI. I'd used mileage to get free economy tickets but, despite that, we were upgraded. Being upgraded on free tickets is cool.
  21. This was in a Thaiger video item too. Said one of the accused policemen admitted it had happened.
  22. But is it worth the risk? Surely the OP can spend two nights away from his girlfriend rather than take a chance?
  23. occupants of the home went to check on Mr. Algaz after he had not been seen for several hours and found his room locked So, not murdered then, unless someone had his key and stopped to lock the door before fleeing the scene. Haven't seen that phrase recently, have we, fleeing the scene. Seems to have gone out of fashion.
