  1. So you know the law you referred to doesn't exist but still made the post. I didn't write that I know. I wrote that I believe. There's a difference. And now someone might respond with a useful post, unlike yours, which can confirm what I believe, or otherwise. I'm open to being educated about it.
  2. I suppose constructing the road properly, as they do in other countries, is out of the question? You never read of accidents caused by vehicles being forced to use the fast lane because the slow lane is unusable elsewhere, do you. In my area, roads have to be resurfaced every few months, and even then it is long after the surface has broken. I can only guess that if they have to do the job over and over again (with the same result of course) they make money from each repair. A bit like products that are built to break after a certain time.
  3. Try reading the article again.
  4. I though that regulation has been postponed. I believe it was postponed only during the Songkran holiday two or three years ago and then rescinded as there was an outcry from people who demanded the right to risk their own life.
  5. I thought that riding in the bed of a pickup was illegal, and for very good reason. Another case of the police being blind/too lazy to do their job. But we'd expect nothing different, would we.
  6. Just another day in the Land of Smiles. Following on from one day's headlines, published by AN on Monday: Trader shoots brother-in-law - noise set him off after 10 year feud Young man borrows younger friend's gun and shoots him in the face Husband kicks his unfaithful wife to death 45-Year-Old Pattaya Man Nabbed for Shooting Gun in Public Police Lieutenant General Shot Dead By Wife * Two Men Dead In A Game Of Russian Roulette * as was the director of the school my nephew attends
  7. I have no idea why junctions now have countdown signs, all over the world. They serve no purpose at all, other than to encourage drivers such as this one to speed up to avoid the red. I understand the countdown for pedestrians crossing, but for vehicles? What is the rationale behind it?
  8. Err, you're supposed to slow down, not go faster. He's so stupid he thinks that the opposite is the right thing to do. But his reward is a month off work.
  9. They should certainly have a dedicated area, even terminal, for the millions of Chinese they are expecting and who already clog up the place.
  10. If not him, who is? A top anything is not necessarily at the same level as a top anything elsewhere. It's all relative. I think we all know the level of Thai qualifications.
  11. I see far, far more vaping on the streets of Bangkok, especially in night-life areas, than people smoking cigarettes. But they probably get upset about foreigners vaping as they can't fine them for dropping cigarette ends on the ground.
  12. A question you could ask about anything in Thailand. The answer is that there appears to be little to no sense of duty and they can't just be bothered. They get paid anyway, so.....
  13. You totally ignored my point about 'selected' places will be allowed to open until 4. And I suppose customers in those places won't be at risk to themselves and others?
  14. Easy mistake to make with the page layout they use now.
  15. Not very greedy, with five sharing 5,500. And isn't it amazing that people have still not caught on to the fact that CCTV is everywhere now.
  16. I wonder why people comment without reading the linked article. It really doesn't take very long. Mr. Sarit admitted to the FDA that they sent the meatballs to 41 fresh markets in Bangkok and nearby provinces and have been selling the meatballs for two years.
  17. Can anyone explain why a photo is published that deliberately shows nothing at all? Just another of those Thai things that are beyond any understanding to non-Thais.
  18. Especially when: After a while Likhit pulled out his pistol and showed it to his friends then removed some bullets and pointed the firearm at his right temple and pulled the trigger.... Another friend told police that Likhit was from Ang Thong province and was disabled from a previous gunshot wound. You really couldn't make it up, could you.
  19. As usual in Thailand, nobody cares. If they were serious about making drivers obey the law then all they have to do is get a bunch of soldiers, who do who knows what all day, out there dressed in civvies to try and take taxis, and everyone who breaks the rules should be arrested and have their license taken away, no ifs or buts. The word would soon get around. And don't have one-day crackdowns as they do now once a year. Do it, day after day, week after week. Of course, it will never happen because nobody really cares. Thailand - Hub of Apathy.
  20. They don't have to take a job with such 'hardships', do they? If they don't like the working conditions then do something else. If they're fit for anything else.
  21. Well, we all know what that means, don't we. An open invitation to buy consent. They don't even try to hide it.
  22. What do you breakfast on in Thailand? In my experience the locals eat the same thing for any meal. Fried chicken for brekkie, no problem, as an example. As for their version of an English breakfast, which is cold plastic ham and cold fried eggs, no thanks.
  23. They excel at that.
  24. I assume that Fox needs a license to broadcast, and receiving that license depends on it being an honourable and responsible organisation? And that now it will be withdrawn? Or will the licensing authority support Fox News's behaviour by letting it continue in business?
  25. For the same reason that the 'red top' newspapers in he UK have the biggest readership. The majority of people are really not too bright.
