  1. Why? What a twisted nasty arrogant thing to say. A tourist gets attacked by a young Thai who ran away (this act in itself is an indication of his guilt otherwise he would have stayed and filed a police report/compensation). Clearly you didn't bother to read the linked report before leaping to the keyboard. The tourist admitted he was drunk and started the confrontation. The foreigner, aged 52 has apologized to the police admitting he was intoxicated and started the argument.
  2. Good reasoning.
  3. Thanks. We all know to buy early. But you didn't answer my question.
  4. Should non Muslims be allowed to wander round drinking in Saudi Arabia or Kuwait? It's about respecting the culture. Election days, now there's another thing. You only answered my second question. Why is having alcohol banned on only a couple or so days a year if it's against Buddhist principles/law? It either is, which means it should be banned all the time as in Muslim countries, or it isn't which means there should be no ban at all. As things are, it makes less sense than banning on election days.
  5. Why? Also, why for non-Buddhists?
  6. It was unclear how he had originally entered Thailand. Err, it's a journalist's job to find out. You know, make a phone call. Ask questions.
  7. Bearing in mind that on average two people an hour are killed on Thai roads, and 80% are motorcyclists, why is this one picked out as news? The rider was only injured. Maybe it's news because he wasn't killed.
  8. What you say is true. But there are many countries where people live in similar circumstances, yet it is Thailand which has by far the greatest international reputation for the availability of prostitutes. Why, I don't know. It's much more a part of the culture. Maybe others in poor countries have a higher sense of morality, whereas Thais are more 'entrepreneurial'/too lazy than nationalities are to work hard for little money/see nothing wrong in selling themselves to get money for the latest phone. Anyway, any move to dismiss the hypocrisy of denying that prostitution exists is a good thing.
  9. Thanks. That might well be a possible reason for a long delay. I go to bed tonight wiser (excuse the pun) than when I woke this morning. Always a good thing. I imagine for most of us though that might be the exception rather than the norm. The source of my monthly transactions don't have to be shown, only the balance in my account.
  10. Not directly Thai related, except that it involves the often-seen riding a bike on the pavement/sidewalk. In the UK a woman has been jailed for protesting exactly that, which led to the death of the cyclist. Interesting to us 'sufferers' here. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-64824436?at_bbc_team=editorial&at_link_origin=BBC_News&at_campaign=Social_Flow&at_format=link&at_link_id=A4A40CA0-B902-11ED-B634-78643AE5AB7B&at_link_type=web_link&at_medium=social&at_ptr_name=facebook_page&at_campaign_type=owned
  11. You come on a public forum and boast about acting like an irresponsible idiot, endangering life to 'get your own back' like a kid challenged in the school yard. I can see why you've been jumped by Latins and Irish. I've never had an altercation in my 74 years. Ever thought you might be the problem? What it comes down to is that you're a thug ready to run into rather than away from a fight. That can get you killed in Thailand, as I'm sure you know. Which is why you ran away scared from the other motorbike taxi drivers.
  12. I did a transfer from the UK to Bangkok Bank on Wednesday at 9am Thai/2am UK time, arrived in eight seconds according to their email, which arrived slower than the money. And that has usually been my experience. As to holidays/weekends/overnight, that belongs to the last century. Such things have no relevance in the electronic age. As my instant transfer this week indicates.
  13. Oh, the irony. A environmentalist protesting the setting up of clean energy.
  14. And what the rest of the world calls not paying attention.
  15. Everyone knows that red lights are only optional to a Thai, not an order.
  16. That's what the link says. But the concerned citizen is Thai, so...... And I wonder if the concerned citizen deleted the video after illegally sharing it.
  17. yes so??you can't understand it??ok read it again or use google translate I think it would take something far more powerful than Google to understand you. Sorry.
  18. Did any of those four have any authority to charge him or make him buy a drink? Did they own the 'bed' or were they 'freelancing'? Pretty common here. It's not unknown for tourists to be forbidden from bringing their own beach furniture, under threat of 'punishment'.
  19. Yes so?? You asked what started the altercation and I pointed out where that information is. I don't understand the rest of what you say either. I'll put it down to language difficulty.
  20. You have to wonder if they would have acted the same way against a fellow Thai. Actually, we can guess the answer to that, can't we.
  21. You clearly didn't read the article, or you didn't understand what you read. Mr. William sat on a beach bed while heavily intoxicated. The beach vendor asked William to pay for the beach bed or he had to order a drink first before he could sit. Mr. William became upset and started a verbal argument and physical fight with four Thai men, according to Thai police.
  22. Unusual maybe 40 years ago. Not now. You need to catch up . There are towns and cities in the UK where more than half the residents are not native Brits. Times have changed. I used to wonder where the 'native' Brits had gone - and then I went to Spain...
  23. And blaming a dog when they were speeding to such an extent that the car turned over three times? If you are driving safely and normally that simply doesn't happen.
  24. Depends on the office(r). At Kalasin they wouldn't even extend my under consideration by two days until I returned.
  25. Every holiday period 'crackdowns' they find many, many thousands have no license at all, not even a bought or fake one. Thais, that is, not evil lawbreaking aliens like us.
