  1. Such a wonderful culture. Such a wonderful country. Following on from today's daily tale of police breaking the law instead of upholding it (today's one by committing murder), or selling underage girls for sex.
  2. I think I'm right in saying that Thai qualifications count for nothing in the real world, and that if any want to attend certain prestigious schools or a university then they have to sit an entrance exam, no matter if they already have a Thai 'masters degree'. I wonder why! I do know, from someone who worked in the office there, that such a school in Australia had a problem with two Thai brothers who failed and threatened the lecturer with legal action. They were told to leave and take their fees with them. Such disregard for reality is also why Thais have to go through rigorous checks to get visas to visit overseas, as they are well known for saying whatever is convenient to them rather than the truth. People dealing with such lies are not idiots and have heard the stories a hundred times.
  3. So she stabbed the kid because she smiled at her? A good thing she didn't frown, otherwise she might be dead now.
  4. That would require common sense and thinking ahead, neither of which exist in Thais.
  5. And why not name the insurance company? Hmm? It's not like in Thailand where you'd get sued for defamation. But this accident is another reason why, when anyone has asked me if Thais drive on the left or right, I answer yes. Whichever suits them. I should also add to them that it is normal for Thais to not take responsibility for anything, ever, so the other motorcyclist riding away is perfectly normal behaviour in the Land of Smiles. Of course, we don't know for sure that the other driver was a Thai, but the accident occurred in Thailand and they were driving like a Thai and acted like a Thai in fleeing the scene, so the overwhelming odds are that it was a Thai.
  6. No, this is him saying what we all know about the Royal Thai Police, and throwing them under the bus for being the lazy good-for-nothings that they are.
  7. Why do you think that Thailand, I think alone among all or most of its neighbouring countries, doesn't allow legal casinos to operate? And have you noticed how the recent talk about allowing them has now gone very, very quiet.
  8. My experience was as above. They totally ignored me. Spoke to my wife and the neighbours and I was invisible. Funny really, when the only reason they were there was because I had applied for an extension.
  9. I suppose paying attention and stopping was out of the question, preferably before smashing into all these vehicles?
  10. But they do don't they, in their tens of millions. Which is why the Thais don't give a rat's fart what we think.
  11. Wait for the U-turn..... 10, 9, 8, .....
  12. Thailand - hub of buildings that fall down before they've even finished building them.
  13. Last century banking hours have no relevance to on-line transfers. I've often arranged transfers from the UK to Thailand/Bangkok Bank at the weekend and they nearly always arrive within seconds. There have been, over the years, the occasional few hours delay on any day of the week. This episode might be another.
  14. That's the last place you should stand. Every Thai driver seems to aim for the poles, judging by the number who crash into them every week. The only safe place might be up a tree, but a driver somehow managed to fly through the top of a tree opposite my house, so better not to leave home at all. And then stay out of any room facing the road, because......
  15. I flew to Dubai in December. It took me nearly two hours to check in and clear immigration and security. It took 40 minutes just to drop off my suitcase after I'd already checked in on-line. Even the Fast Track line had a long queue through the terminal. When I left Dubai, it took me less than that 40 minutes to get from my hotel to the airport and clear all the formalities there. Flying from Swampy makes you lose the will to live.
  16. Next month's headline: Rival baggage handlers clash at Swampy airport. Three shot and baggage trolleys set ablaze. AOT apologises to amazed passengers for their singed suitcases. Three committees set up to investigate. Chuwit accuses airport staff of corruption in choosing company linked to Chinese mafia figures living in Thailand with false visas. 'Big Joke' promises action. PM says it is fake news as no Thai would ever do such a thing.
  17. Same as hotels - call yourself a boutique airline or hotel and they think that gives them an excuse to hike their price.
  18. Again, who do you know that fits that description - in your words 'Sombody who claims to earn only 10k a month and has a millions THB worh house and luxury car(s)'.
  19. And who do you know that fits that description?
  20. Yesterday evening at 7pm Suphat returned to the house and shot at her father Wichian, 56, injuring him in the shoulder.
  21. All the above posters have ignored: His dad, who arrived at the station after learning about his son’s arrest, backed up his son’s claim, saying his son was also mentally ill and suffered from depression....The dad promised that he would take better care of his son and admit him to a hospital to cure his mental illness and cannabis addiction.
  22. Yet another person with mental problems with a gun. Not a good mix.
