  1. I read the headline to say that the alleged rapist then made a suicide attempt. A pity that wasn't the case.
  2. They might have been in Thailand too long and took their cue from the countless news reports of Thais doing exactly that. When in Rome..... The only difference is that the locals can't have their visa revoked.
  3. There was another bus 'accident' yesterday, one today, and there'll be another tomorrow. Part of the fun and excitement of being in Thailand, wondering if today will be your turn to be injured or killed.
  4. An inactive post removes you from the gravy train, meaning you don't receive any of the payouts from money gathered by Thailand's largest criminal organisation which is distributed each month. There was an article on here sometime last year about how it operates, explained by a very senior officer who clearly knew he was untouchable. Each region is given a target of how much must be found each month, money kindly donated by grateful members of the public to their Christmas fund.
  5. I remember many years ago a BBC news presenter complained there was too much bad news and there should be more balance, and he was disciplined or sacked.
  6. And The Thaiger made no effort to find out what action was being taken, if any. You know, do a proper reporter's job. Pick up the phone. Talk to someone. It's not that hard.
  7. Parents in Thailand often do not parent. They pass that job on to others, often grandparents who might struggle even to look after themselves, let alone boisterous kids. Note that there isn't even mention of the girls parents. Nowhere to be seen. Just part of the culture, and sometimes it results in very serious consequences. Thai kids often are not disciplined anyway, especially boys. And look at the result.
  8. Great parenting. I wonder where the father was. Oh wait....... I forgot for a moment where I am.
  9. Another brain-dead who believes that the law is enforced by politicians (only Democrats of course) and not by judge and jury.
  10. The bed is only 1700 for a single use room so no big deal. And returning to the hospital for a check the following day is a 100km round-trip that can be combined with shopping and is also no big deal. What will probably swing me away from the hospital stay is the memory of a rock hard bed when I needed to stay there years ago (I ended up sleeping on the couch as it was softer), and being bored there.
  11. Enforcing the law ? So will the motor bike boss get done for renting out to someone without a licence ? I doubt it . Because the cops would lose money if everyone held a licence . Next thing you will be saying " there is no corruption in Thailand " You don't get it. It has nothing to do with what Thais do, including members of the country's largest criminal organisation. We can't influence that. What we can do, and should do, is obey the law ourselves. Or are you suggesting that as Thais break the law we should be free to do so as well?
  12. Exactly my thoughts. Thailand attracts a lot of scum, yet the authorities never seem to wonder why that might be.
  13. Last April I had that when a new boss took over at Kalasin after the last one was removed for corruption. No doubt they will need to be reassured again with an interview and house visit to where I live with my wife of 33 years.
  14. It isn't corruption. It'd enforcing the law. Too many foreigners here seem to struggle to know the difference. Including you, it seems.
  15. My apologies. Not sure how that happened.
  16. You are. Try reading the linked report. That is why it's there.
  17. Asian culture, people do things as a group. The customers are still there when they return. But yes, infuriating.
  18. They do, yes. Their choice. It doesn't make him a goose, whatever that means.
  19. It isn't corruption. It'd enforcing the law. Too many foreigners here seem to struggle to know the difference. Including you, it seems.
  20. The other Swiss was involved in a far more serious assault than the 'Doctor kicker', so why him especially?
  21. Your opinion stated as fact, with nothing at all to back it up.
  22. That is your opinion, unless you can quote a survey that backs you up.
  23. Why post your ignorance about one of the most well-known couples in the world? I'd have kept quiet about being so out of touch.
