  1. Er, no. It's the same incident you referred to in the previous paragraph. Perhaps if they didn't use two writers to present the same story they wouldn't repeat themselves. We're even told twice how he was dressed. Yet more quality journalism and editing from The Thaiger.
  2. Or turn to making endless posts on AN (not aimed at you) 😊
  3. I used to think I'd done really well to be a journalist. And then social media came along and I discovered that a sizeable number of people are only semi-literate. On this site, I guess some of what you speak of might be down to English being a second language. I also recognise that not all people are skilled at all things. I, for example, find learning another language close to impossible. Expecially Thai, which has an 'alien' script.
  4. Correct. Things don't get reported easily here. Even bad service reviews risk a lawsuit. It's disgusting the whale can't see through the smokescreen after many years in Bangkok. Sounds like the whale did not learn much from his stay, missing out on a major lesson. In the Usa almost everything is in the open and reported. Free press or closer to it. And another report added this morning: Two Women Stab Each Other on Sukhumvit Soi 11
  5. Come on, you know why. Face. There can be no other reason. There can, actually, be very few countries in the world where such a car can be used to its potential. Germany, with no speed limit on the autobans I guess. Anywhere else? Still, if people have got money to burn buying expensive toys, up to them.
  6. Ah well. Back to the repair shop then.
  7. Where does it say that the driver was the owner? It was being test-driven after repair, probably by the garage that did the work.
  8. You need to remove your rose-colured glasses. From this morning's headlines alone: Female ranger shot dead in a market in Narathiwat Murdered teen’s body found in reservoir in Chiang Mai Cockfighting arena owner’s body found, murder suspected Thai fugitive arrested in Chiang Rai for murder 18 years ago Man Arrested after Stabbing Bartender to Death in Phuket
  9. Look no further than the source of the article. The Thaiger excels again.
  10. He's come to the right place, then. How about the more common six or eight on one? Now there's a challenge for him, or is he a wimp for thinking he can only handle three? What a pathetic human being he is. More human trash that has washed up on Thailand's shores. I wonder why the government hasn't set up a few committees to discuss why so many low-lifes like to come to the land of smiles.
  11. Are you sure that Chinese-run companies are required to have Safety First signs? They might be exempt from that vital feature that saves so many lives.
  12. How difficult is it to understand that if you drop out of college then you do not take your journalism course exams and are therefore unqualified in the subject you abandoned?
  13. Just more of the trash that Thailand attracts like flies to s*it.
  14. I'm sorry to have been better informed than you, and that by responding to your sarcastic post asking how I knew what I did I might have embarrassed you as a result. It really didn't take me much effort to discover more about the writer, as any reader of this site could do. I am interested in why The Thaiger employs such abysmal writers, and by a minimum of effort discovered they each have a profile. To actually include in this case that the writer has no formal qualifications to be a journalist I suppose speaks volumes of the standards that The Thaiger has. I would have thought they would hide the fact, not broadcast it. By the way, I'm commenting as a journalist of over 40 years who has written for The Times, Daily Telegraph, Sydney Morning Herald and all of the agencies among others, so I think I have an insight into what is good journalism and what is not. Sorry too if my experience in the profession might offend you.
  15. It has nothing to do with desperation. It has everything to do with abolishing laws that make no sense and, as you point out, are not enforced anyway.
  16. Certainly. Step 1 - open the linked article Step 2 - scroll past the article and Thaiger Talk to the profile of the writer.
  17. The article was written by a US college dropout. Need I say more. So, someone with no qualifications to be a journalist.
  18. And the brilliant reporting from The Thaiger forgets to list exactly what the modifications are, Which makes the entire report pretty pointless. No detail. None at all. Zero. Except giving a irrelevant list of names of those involved.
  19. I thought if you satisfied the tax conditions in one country (ie have paid tax in your own country) then it was satisfied in the reciprocal country too and you didn't have to pay on that income again. Or in my case satisfying the conditions that I do not have to pay there. According to you, that is not the case and even if I am not liable there that same income is liable to be taxed in Thailand. So what is a reciprocal agreement?
  20. So you would have to pay tax on all of your pension when it is sent here I very much doubt that. I believe Thailand and the UK have a reciprocal agreement, which to me means that if I don't pay there then I also don't pay here.
  21. What did your doctor tell you? I assume you consulted one before asking the experts on AN?
  22. How does the name of the hotel affect the investigation?
  23. Now, I wonder how he knew that. He didn't say might be Japanese, he said were. And I would be very surprised if they were Japanese.
  24. That would be okay. Thais are quite well-known known to do that. Might not be allowed by foreigners though, especially these days.
