Chinese Man Falls to His Death From Pattaya Condo
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Someone has died and, right on cue, we have a number of moronic 'jokes' and comments from people who haven't read the full report but comment from ignorance anyway. -
And so the exodus of quality expats begins. This time it's personal
Bangkok Barry replied to Galong's topic in Phuket
I considered spain and portugal several years ago and rejected it. Can't remember why I never followed through, but it must have been a visa problem. I'm from the Usa. I'm from the UK and had family and friends there, and visited several times. But that was before the Brexit nonsense, and in that time my sister split from her UK husband and moved back. As I have no real reason to go there now, except that I like it, I have no idea of the visa requirements for UK citizens who want to reside there. There didn't used to be any, but even now I'd guess it's probably easier for UK citizens than those of the US. Just a guess. I'm pretty sure that UK folk wouldn't find it too hard but I admit I'm now speaking from ignorance. If anyone has any info I'm willing to be educated. -

Sorry, no idea. -

The middle ground is Spain, for those from the UK. There is also a sizeable German and Scandinavian presence. Good infrastructure, a police force that polices, far better quality in the supermarkets, many things cheaper than Thailand, a more variable climate, people who drive in a responsible manner. I'd move there in a heartbeat if I didn't have family in Thailand. -
Crackdown on underage prostitution, teen Thai pimp arrested
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I suppose getting a job that doesn't involve pimping is out of the question then? You know, like most people do. -

Her option might be to get a job, like most people do. That pays for food. -

I suppose getting a job instead of living off a rapist was out of the question? -

Yet another brain-dead Thai who advertises illegal services on-line and then is surprised when police show up. Note to Thais: If potential customers can see what you are selling, so can the police. It's not rocket science. -
Phuket Man Arrested for Alleged Hotel Booking Scam
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Anyone doing business with someone who advertises on Facebook is playing Russian /roulette with their money. Real businesses have websites. They are cheap to set up and run, and if a business can't afford to do that and/or can't be bothered to set up a professional on-line presence then I avoid them. -
Tragic scooter crash in Thailand leaves Queensland dad in coma

Reading AN is like being trapped in Groundhog Day. Same stories every day - foreigner in motorcycle accident, foreigner falls from balcony, pickup drives itself off the road, motorcyclist killed at 3am, jealous boyfriend/husband murders /girlfriend/wife, teenagers in running street battle at 2am. EDIT: I forgot this one: Pattaya Songtaew Driver Brutally Attacks Competitor After Argument Over Chinese Customers -
13 year old boy falls to his death from 7th floor of school
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
So there were clearly inadequate safety precautions and/or supervision. What a surprise. -
The foreign man was clean from drugs, and there was no mention of mental health issues. Really? No mention, but make your own conclusions about that. He believed that the gang had him in their sights and could successfully shoot him while the plane was on the runway at 80 kilometres per hour. The gang might be planning to destroy the plane, so he had to get off for his safety.

I had an incident with my wife while in Bangkok. The driver got upset that someone cut in front of him - cue start acting like a baby throwing its toys out of the pram, and the taxi driver raced that car, pulled in front of him and slammed on his brakes. This cat and mouse between two morons continued for a few minutes and I demanded the taxi stop and let us out. He refused, so I hit him on the side of the head, not hard, to try and knock some sense into him. He still refused to stop, but once we got to our destination he told my wife he was an off-duty policeman and if he had had his gun with him he would have shot me. That's never happened to me in any of the other 30+ countries I've been to, only in the land of smiles.

Jealous Thai man arrested for killing wife by slitting her throat
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I always think the best punishment is to smash their kneecaps so that they never walk again. Killing them is no punishment at all as they don't suffer for their crime because it's all over in a moment. -
My wife finds the flashing light useful for warning approaching traffic when there has been a road accident in the vicinity of our house at night. She's needed it several times over the years. Very useful.
