  1. What law has he broken? She did everything voluntarily.
  2. Where does it say he raped her? (I can't read the link as I only see Full story: [source name + source link] 2023-11-27). She apparently consented to everything because she thought she would be cured of evil spirits. Coerced maybe, but that is very different to rape.
  3. I have a nephew living with us, after his mother chooses to live for nine months of the year with her Dutch husband in Hungary. He's been learning English for eight years, including in a private school, and he still can't put a sentence together. But he has been given his turn as number one in his class for English. And my wife was at uni studying to teach English. She showed me a test paper she was given, which contained around 10 or so errors. I corrected them for her to give to the professor, who just threw it in the bin. But then, let's not forget that the previous PM told students that they didn't need to learn English as one day all the world will speak Thai. I would add that, after seeing what my wife was taught to pass on to her students, I could fully understand why they wouldn't want to learn. I've been a journalist for over 40 years so understand the language pretty well, but had no idea what it was she was trying to teach them. Far, far too technical, the kind of level they might teach at university level in the UK.
  4. I have absolutely no idea what this means. Seemingly no relation to anything in the thread.
  5. Common practise about everything everywhere, all over the world. Hence the term 'shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted'.
  6. You can be killed over nothing at all in the Land of Smiles. Life means absolutely nothing here and you can be murdered over the slightest thing. Nowhere is safe at any time. Maybe TAT should post a warning when they promote the country. And another murder for no reason reported today: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/mentally-ill-thai-man-beats-victim-to-death-with-pestle-in-bangkok-video
  7. Thanks. I've been misinformed by several other articles. This one makes more sense.
  8. They returned some of the gems fake copies of some of the gems. I remember the wife of one police chief - probably this one - wore the largest gem to a function. The arrogance was breathtaking but hardly surprising.
  9. Thailand has 57 million people and amelika has 350 million...that's hardly a valid comparison Read again. I wrote based on population, something you appear to have missed or not understood.
  10. Might still be. some of these beasts can move a bit.
  11. Yes No No It doesn't. Pile up rice by the road and leave it there in the dark. What could possibly go wrong.
  12. That requires forward thinking and initiative. both of which are largely absent in Thailand. As this case demonstrates.
  13. Or, for all we know was driving correctly and didn't expect to find a pile of rice in the road.
  14. Jaturong (the one legged groom - you couldn't make this up) reportedly grabbed his 9 mm firearm from his vehicle and shot the bride. Well, that marriage didn't last long, did it. Just part of Amazing Thailand.
  15. I've read many times that, based on population, Thailand has double the gun deaths of the USA. The difference is that in America they are often mass shootings and in Thailand, the place we read in guide books is a land of close families, they are largely domestic. So yes, Hub Of Domestic Violence.
  16. Yet again, you post before reading the linked article.
  17. I suppose that's one way of putting it. How about 'A driver who it is alleged was massively over the drink drive limit last night massacred nine innocent bystanders and injured many more. It was claimed by witnesses that the driver had been racing and lost control, overturning his vehicle and not only killing and injuring those gathered for a Kathin celebration but destroying many motorcycles parked nearby.'
  18. My brother-in-law is a policeman and has been for all his life. I asked my wife what ha actually does and she has no idea.
  19. You're assuming that they think ahead to the consequences. Many would not. That is why they drive as they do, especially motorcyclists. They don't give a seconds thought to the consequences of what they're doing. It's also why there are so many domestic murders in Thailand. They don't think for a moment what might happen next.
  20. Agreed. I've used Brave for years with no issues at all.
  21. She'd make a great stand-up comic. It's said that when she was 'invited' to get out of the car she told him to naff off, which would be a very typical thing for her to say. The most down-to-Earth of the Royals, before Diana and William came along.
  22. In my first job, in London, there was someone who did exactly that. I found it amusing.
  23. What could go wrong is your ability to understand what you are reading. A pickup truck driver fell asleep and crashed into a motorcycle
  24. Autsah said he noticed that the light in the bathroom was flickering. So, he stood on a chair and checked the electric wire. There was a space between the bathroom wall and the roof but insists he did not look into the bathroom. Yet another excuse at the level a child would make up.
  25. I'm a journalist and I've worked with the local variety. Not one of them would last a week in the real world.
