You clearly only read the headline. The answer you seek is there, not once but twice. The tenant had been renting the room for around four to five years, paying a stable rent of 1,700 baht per month, plus 200 baht for electricity. The condo’s owner, a senior lady, told reporters that the tenant had been a regular payer, occasionally paying late fees.

Luxembourg family demands justice after fatal road accident
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
In Thailand it doesn't matter how well or how carefully you drive. You can be wiped out in an instant by someone who doesn't do the same. Usually by a Thai, but in this case it was a Russian and, from videos I've seen on YouTube, they are as reckless at Thais. -
All you need to do is to get your phone out and make to start recording. I did that at the airport when I was taken aside to an office when leaving the country and told there was something wrong with my brand new passport. Once they saw the phone they waved me to leave. I suddenly wasn't worth the hassle.

They are 'so underpaid'? Did you make that up to suit your own agenda, to support their corruption? I know people in the service who are paid a reasonable salary and - a major, major incentive to work there in a country with all but no financial help for the aged - a good pension. By the way, those I know charge 200 and not 3000+ for the service and have nothing but contempt for those corrupt officials.

Cyber police arrest two for purchasing guns online in Thai sting
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
A proper reporter would have asked what, if any, action was taken against the sellers and then tell us. But expecting that to happen is the same as expecting snow in Bangkok at Christmas, -
That limited edition thing used to bother me, after I first discovered it in my local 7 Eleven a couple of years ago. Especially when it disappeared from there. But I later found it in Savannakhet, and someone on this site directed me to a place I can get it in Kalasin, close to my local immigration office, so I buy it by the case when I'm there. No 'no sales except between 11 and 2' nonsense there either. So I take the limited edition thing with a large pinch of salt. Words and terms often mean different things to what we know and, as a hotel manager told me when my 'suite; was just a room, suites is just a name. As for the price, yes ,cheap by UK standards but not by local standards. And I've not yet been able to find the Caribou IPA anywhere, so another case of Lao in on the shopping list.

Teen accuses spiritual medium of sexually abusing her and a friend
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Same goes for all the religious pantomimes in industrialised countries. They all have their rituals and beliefs, some of which totally contradict those of other religions ie mustn't cut your hair/must have shaven head. Pathetic. -

Can't say she wasn't warned. -
I guess you are okay with being being murdered for 400 baht or less (I know of two cases where 100 was involved) and almost daily murders within families, or being murdered for turning off the wi-fi or looking at someone the wrong way or young kids carrying guns or students attacking and murdering each other, or teachers beating kids often with apparent impunity (two this week so far) and lack of law enforcement. How would you describe that?

I think I remember reading on this site some time ago that an applicant dived into his 400,000 and took it below the level required before the extension had been given. Submitting the application doesn't mean anyone can then 'break the rules', before it has been considered and given. Most of the time they don't check but if they do then they would have grounds to refuse.

Thailand's Immigration Launches Automated Passport Control
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I assume that those who install and operate the machines DO have a clue. Why would you if you aren't a programmer or engineer? -
None of us are safe on the streets here. A shootout in the centre of Thailand's capital with no regard for any bystanders. Same thing happened during a disagreement between motorcycle taxi drivers in Udom Suk a while ago. Any one of us could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, whether walking down the street, in a shopping mall, being wiped out by a lunatic driver.

Pattaya Police Not Enforcing Pedestrain Crosswalk Light Violations
Bangkok Barry replied to Banana7's topic in Pattaya
Exactly so. I've often said to my wife that the Thai police are indirectly responsible for many thousands of road deaths each year, for the reason you say. Doing the right thing as a matter of integrity, either the police enforcing the law or drivers driving safely even though they might get away with not doing so, does not exist in Thai culture.
