  2. I was/am in a similar retirement situation as you. about 15 years coming here , about 5 retired. married to a wonderful Thai lady for about 15. but no kids , only one from a previous marriage. What would you do different if you had retired in your country? I suspect being a lot more expensive there, you won't be able to afford as much as you do here and would be even more bored. The trick is to not stop working after you retirement. but just change it to things you enjoy doing, and those things are different for each one of us. So I cant tell you what to do, I enjoy reading, so mi Kindle is alway near me , and catch up on my working life differed reading, If I had 40 years of life remai ing there is no way that I can read all the books I should have. Picked up the Guitar again. Old hand and brain not cooperating but I manage to annoy the wife and send the dogs running. (five of them) Ride my bicycle , which is exactly what I will do as soon as I finish riding this. Have a mall apartment building(only for apartments) always needing something fixed. Koi pont and growing koi. Finding weathered wood in the fields and making Orchid derangements. Have a one Rai farm where I am always building something and spending 1000, baht to grow 100bht worth of vegetables LOL Cooking and baking Traveling Setting everyone straight on this forum Not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do. Just finished building this Sala all by myself and am very proud Point being you got to find the things that interest you and keep busy.
  3. That is arguable and would depend on who would replace him. But I am not here to make value judgments , only to talk of the event that brought us where we are and who is to blame. Ukraine is certainly not better off having followed the road it did.
  4. As opposed to the US who is borrowing everything? And the US spending is ? He has already accomplished all objectives. Where would the Ukrainians coscript from.
  5. But she was. It view the opening of a second undefendable front as an existential threat. At the very least the existence of it could be used as a threat of non compliance. Ahh the old regime change. Ant the Americans though that Putin would go quietly, and Russia would roll over, because Russians have no national pride. IMO and the opinion of many others in the know, the US miscalculated the Russian resolve and capabilities and thought it could reduce the multipolar landscape into a bipolar one on the cheap. Russian GDP growth 2023 3.6% German GDP growth 2023 2.5 French GDP growth 2023 1.0 UK GDP growth 2023 .6% US GDP growth 2023 2,5%

Ir is it fish? Anyone knows where I can get cod? I am in the mood for it, and I have not seen it anywhere, Perhaps Top's , I haven't looked there yet.
  10. are these anything like the Indian restaurant Onion Bhaji Balls? I love those.
  11. None left LOL, but not a bad idea, I will ask her to make me more next week and will try it.
  12. Oh I missed that also 25 baht a month? Outrageous, I would tear out my meter also . I will admit I did not know, I was under the impression that under a certain usage you did not pay anything, ao I asked my wife , and she said it used to be the case but is no longer. So I did a search and this is what I found. " the minimum charge shall not be lower than 70% of the maximum demand charge during the last 12 month period " https://www.boi.go.th/index.php?page=utility_costs if I understand this correctly then the minimum would be 30% of your highest bill in the past 12 months , If I am doing this correctly 25 baht is a very reasonable amount , in fact it sound way too low because then the highest bill in the last 12 months would had been les than 100 baht. So I must be missing something. Regardless, even after installing solar, I would never take my meter out if I had the option to keep it, You never know when your solar would be inadequate (rainy season) or a component could fail. That's my uninformed (since I don't have one) opinion on the subject So I must not be doing this right.
  13. The ,"I'm a bridge" line Must be the most overused metaphor in a Politician's arsenal Still a long way from said it, to I thought he infer it. But even if he did. or someone thought that he did, why make the conclusion that only one term would be nessacery to cross that "bridge"? Obviously we have not , the trump threat is still here , and I don't see a new generation of leaders. Perhaps if Kamala Harris were showing stronger numbers . but she is not.
  14. You are correct, I did nor and apologise, I should have.
  15. What other option did he have other than capitulate ?
  16. Do you know when a cow has mad -cow disease? You look a herd of cows and they are all going Moooo, Moooo, Mooo except for one going, Mooo Mooo Mooohahaha moohahaha

  18. Wife made my favorite today Cashew Chicken, with the right amount of fire I can't stop eating it, every time I walk by the kitchen I take another bite.
  19. I don't think he gave the meter back, why would someone do that? II don't think it costs anything to keep the meter, Am I correct? That way during the rainy season where you might not produce anything you can draw from the matter and when you produce more than you consume , you can feed back .
  20. A bit late, but better late than never, These people have suffered so much. So sad,
  21. Silicone caulking is good because it is flexible, which is why I suggest the use of the fiberglass tape, to introduce flexibility to the plaster repair. The problem with caulking is that you will still be able to see where the cracks are . Try one crack and see how well it works after you painted the area. Make sure to use paintable latex caulking, have a wet kitchen sponge to wash out the excess caulking . Does your wall have texture? you might want to introduce a similar texture to the repair. Perhaps blowing a little bit of grit or fine sand on the wet caulking if your wall texture is sandy. But regardless of the medium you use, make sure to open the cracks a little bit, The mistakes that many make is that they are afraid to make it worst by opening the cracks (understandably) and the repair does not have an anchor point and eventual falls out.
  22. Such is the world and human nature. The main responsibility of any countries leader is the welfare of it's people. What are the options? The steps had already be made. Ukraine was on in only name , a de facto NATO country, being armed and trained by them. The game is not as simple as you think. It would take me pages and pages ro properly explore it. So if you are an American president, and knew that if you continued in this course of action , what would you do? Would you make Ukraine a de facto member, or would you make her a full NATO member? What would NATO required to do if one of its members is attacked? Because you have not followed the minutiae of the situation. I told you of the statesmen and women who had indeed had "discussions' about this It is very easy to google these things . What makes you think it has not? Do you dispute any of the things I told you? Do you think the US would act any differently faced with a similar situation. I am sure you have heard of the Monroe doctrine. What is an "existential threat" to a country? How does one define one? Anyway I have said all I am going to say on the subject. this after all is not a thread about Ukraine.
  23. Get yourself one of these from lazada. I have also seen then at Home pro. use the pointy back edge to open the cracks. The plaster will flow through the fiberglass tape fil the opened crack and anchor its's better. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/-i4417325915-s17648410056.html?from_gmc=1&exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:20836539076!!!!!c!!17648410056!239289034&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAt5euBhB9EiwAdkXWO32SNd8Vx6ZFaSIBYsDNagMGMhD1cUhJW2xPoe3c3s7-bZDYhoOUahoCYqkQAvD_BwE
  24. which is more than anyone would do. You did the right thing.
  25. Russia did not do anything the US , or any country having the capacity ,would not do faced with a similar situation. The narrative is that , this is Putin's war. and he is a bad guy. That he is a bad guy is not in dispute. but It is not Putin's war ,it Russia's war. Warnings had be made to the American leadership for decades that western NATO expansion into Ukraine would result in a Russian invasion. Ambassador to Russia and currently CIA secretary Burns.Secratery of state Gates, Angela Merkel, Former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy Yet the Americans persisted, then they fainted surprise that Russia invaded. So why invade over Ukraine and not the other countries? Geography and topography. Previously to Ukraine NATO misadventures , any invasion of russia would have had to come from the Suwałki Gap,(about 100 km wide ) between Lithuania and Poland, that funnels to the gap between the Russian controlled Kaliningrad and Pro-Russia Belarus. which is 65 km. Opening Ukraine to NATO would open a second , and very large front , impossible to control. Now you would ask. Why would NATO invade Russia, NATO is a defencive organisation? One does not have to invade ,to intimidate. Having the capacity to do so would intimidate Russia to play ball or........ Now let me ask you this? How often have you heard the above analysis in the western media, and ask yourself Why?
