I don't often watch TV movies, I am ore of a reader. But I was in the States visiting my 28 year old daughter and we binged on a Netflix show I had never heard of before. Not sure if it was the show or that I was watching it with my daughter or a combination of the two , but I enjoyed it very much. Derry Girls

I respectfully disagree , The environment in the FB groups I belong is a lot more civil. I think it is a function that you are not anonymous for the most part, Your name and often your picture is there, When I post on my home town FB group, the people I interact with on our FB page, I often see at Makro.

It should be called antisocial media. We used to meet other people. socialise, get other points of view in an environment where you had to show some respect or lose a couple of teeth. Now many of us sit in their pajamas In front of a tablet. Reinventing themselves and the only feedback they get are the voices in their head. Antisocial media also has the affect of causing people to gravitate toward their personal tastes, I communicate with people in many FaceBook (FB) groups I belong, The environment there is different , partly because it is moderated, you are not anonymous, and you are in a group that is a good fit for you. I am sure there must be a group "Farang A-holes,in Thailand" but those of us that are not, would not go there. Anyway, there is a lot of value to this Forum, I can not count the times I was helped with a question, And it helps to put things in perspective, be respectful. amd debate the issue rather than the person, There are members that I could not agree with less in some subforums. and yet we get along fine in others. It is also important to mention one thing. I promise you one thing, if you are to meet some of these posters they are nothing like you would imagine them to be. I have met some of them and they were all very nice people.

in the credit it says " the Thiger, , i did not see a link or credit to the Nation . Apologies if I missed it. But isn't the Nation also an English language expat paper? I will admit i am not familiar with it. I doubt the scientists published their findings on the Nation either. And if it is a copy from a third Thai language paper, I am sure it is a translation. But I could be wrong. I have not seen the original press release either.

Paranoia or is it just me ?
sirineou replied to beautifulthailand99's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
my experience was exactly the was identical to yours. I occasionally smoked in my youth, mostly cigarettes but occasionally weed. I gave up cigarette in my late 20s and never smoked another one again , I am now 66. Probably one of the best things I did for myself not only healthwise but also from an economic point of view, At the time cigarettes cost over $10 a pack,. a pack a day equates to 365 packs a year and a total spend of $3,650 . at that cost if I had continued smoking I would had spend $138. 700 And I gave up smoking weed because I grew up, had a family and responsibilities. My career took of when I gave up smoking weed. Can't tell if it was because I stopped smoking, or because it was the change in attitude that caused me to stop smoking that was also conducive to the responsibility nessacery for a successful career I was in a car commuting with a couple of friend of mine and they light up, It was the end of the day so I thought. What the hell" and had some. They are acting stupid, It might be fun if I got a bit stupid myself. I hated it. It ruined the rest of my day. and I never tried it again. -
Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thank you for posting this, when I trad the title of this thread it is exactly what I was thinking. Not day goes by that I don't see a similar situation. I am sure you all see them. Thailand does not need better emissions regulations, it need to inforce minimal ones. If we see it every day , do they mean to tell us the police does not see it? -
Something is reported and you all jump to demean it. What is your problem with it? That it happened? that it was done by Thai people? ot that it was reported? What is the problem? The disrespect toward their hosts, shown by some expats living here, and many whose only connection to Thailand is that once got laid in Pattaya is incredible. I wonder what motivates them.

Angry Russian Tourist Forcefully Shaves Part of Pattaya Barber’s Hair
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Firstly, by virtue of the fact that they are wealthy enough to be here on vacation, and then chose to come to Thailand and go to Pattaya , self selects a certain type of personality. Then we do not hear about the thousands of Russians who come here and do not cause trouble, we only hear of the trouble. Then there is the bias confirmation problem. Here in Thailand We have developed a preconceived ideas concerning Russians an as such or expectations and attitude is skewed. People don't like people that dont like them Or perhaps my perceptions were skewed in the opposite direction because the circle i interacted with , also preselected. But I think it is always wrong to make generalisations about a whole people. -
The Constitution at fault or what?
sirineou replied to Thailand's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Iy is not the constitution that gives' us undesirable candidate. We give our seves those people. it us who boy the BS they sell. Buch like the narrative the other side is trying to create. with some success, that Biden is senile, just because he is older. Warren Buffet is 10 years older than Biden , and no one will say that he is senile. You might say it, not the age, but what he does. So what did he really do? maybe a few senior moments. Who among us of certain age don't have them. How many times I have walked into a room and forgot why I went there. Am I senile? For sure old age causes some decline, but at the same time , more than makes up for by life long experience and wisdom. here is only one party, the sooner people realize this the better. There is the property party. with a progressive wing we call democrats, and a conservative wing we call republicans. Unfortunately unlike the parliamentary system, we have a zero sum system, with a winner takes all, and loose goes home, and such system can not tolerate more than two contenders. A third party will take votes away from from the candidate that is closer in ideology to it, and insure the election of the antithesis. It's not like our system will change, so I am afraid we are screwed. -
Angry Russian Tourist Forcefully Shaves Part of Pattaya Barber’s Hair
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
That of course is not true, Perhaps some of the ones who come here are, but Russia is a big country with a lot of people. I was born into the Greek Orthodox and where I lived there was also a very large Russian Orthodox community, and I had the pleasure to interact with many of them, they were all very nice people. i also had the pleasure to be sitting next to one in my flight last month , and had a long conversation ( a very nice person) Any country that gave us Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky, Solzhenitsyn,Solovyev. etc. cant be all bad. Always wrong to be making generalisations about any people. -
Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have asked this question since this thread started, "Has anyone seen what was posted " and yet no one has said. "Yes here is a link" I suspect that no one in this thread has, yet we all have strong opinions about what was posted, and what Thai air did. What did Thai air do. I propose that we don"t even know that. the title say "Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism " Do we know if they sued? The article says : "They took legal action" is sue the only legal action? are there intermediate steps before that occurs? Someone said that the person retracted the statement, If true, why is it not mentioned in the article, and even sued, would such case proceed if the person retracted the statement, and apologised. I suspect that Thai airways threatened to sue over the libelous statements , and the karen at hand retracted and apologized, the this is the end of that story. But I could be wrong . -
This is inconsequential to the issue at hand. He took a bullet for his country. and for that we should be thankful. Perhaps a future president would pardon him, and if he was I would be very happy. As I said, if the law is not good, it should be changed, but until it is ,it's the law, There was no choice than that he was prosecuted, and if what he was found guilty of was true ,that he is convicted. No choice at all regardless of our disappointment. And if what the goverment is doing is crim inal under the existing laws, and what he exposed is true, (and I believe it is) then the criminals in the goverment should also be prosecuted.

The Constitution at fault or what?
sirineou replied to Thailand's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
As much as dislike trump and nothing would make me happier if tomorrow morning's' news announced that he died. I hope they allow him to run. If he runs, he will lost !! Te lost the popular vote last time he run and only won because of the electoral college. Now e had a disterouse one term by him, he is showing a lot less support among republicans and independents that he did in 2016, and is facing several indictments. . Biden will wipe the floor with him. He is a flawed candidate .But if he is not allowed to run, then we will get a more viable candidate against Biden, who also has some negatives, and there would be a good chance to see a president Haley. If the supreme court disqualifies him, it will give him new life. He will claim that this election was stolen from him also, and we will never hear the end of it for another four years. Let the voters remove him. -
It does not matter whether it is the moral thing to do or not. The law is that you don't. and if you do and get caught you pay the price. You can not have Law a la carte. If the law is bad , change the law . You can not have people arbitrarily deciding which laws to follow and which to not, for what I hope are obvious reasons.
