Thank you very much Taotoo. I just went there, and posted it. Hopefully the owner will find it and prove its theirs, before my family gets overly attached.

Update; I check 4 times a day here and the lost and found site, still no post from owner. This dog is incredably well trained, and polite. Last night loaded daughter into her car seat, dot standing next to me watching quietly. I turned to open driver door to start car, sat down, and the dogs nose nudged my cheek. It had cleared the daughter, landed on seat next to her and sat ''at attention'', ready to ride. Darn critter is a tick magnet though. Took between 100 and 150 off of her 2 nights ago. Last night and this morning found 4 more. Also with shedding, we could go into business producing dog hair filled pillows.

Thats all the complaining I can come up with. Loves to ride in the car, behaves very well in public. Hurry owner, before we disavow any knowledge of this dog. whistling.gif

  3. Not everyone is like that, but agree that a lot are. If their opening statement does not contain an indication as to how long they have been here then their next question asks (demands) it direct.

If asked by someone I have just met I usually reply 'a while' or something similar. If they then loudly declare 'I've been here xx years' I often just mutter 'bloody newbies' and move on.

(note.. I've been here 'a while')

Good answer thaiDown. I smile and ask them either, ''whats your score now?'' or ''Oh that long? You must speak fluent thai. Which dialect?''

  4. There is a large baby store behind Big C Extra, in the Chiang Mai Business Park area.

However all low-end stuff you can pick up at Tesco or Big C, all the higher end stuff at the shipping malls. (Central, Robinsons)

For some expensive items it's also worth checking out all the Chiang Mai second hand Facebook pages, putting up a 'Wanted' post if needed. (Things like quality strollers and car child seats.)

And for some things consider if you need a dedicated thing at all; for example rice cookers with steaming basket make excellent bottle steamers. wink.png

All true, and only thing I can add is, possible this large baby store you mention (I.S. Kids), is next door to a 7 11, and may have a larger and or wider selection of things. We have shopped there many times.

  5. Mix one tablespoon of boric acid to half a cup of sugar, then add one cup of water. You will probably have to really work at getting the boric acid to dissolve, as it is hydrophobic...non-water loving. Keep mixing until you get it all mixed, then place it in bottle caps (if you have no pets or children that can get in it) and let a bit drip around where ever you put the mix. The ants will come and eat and eat and eat, and then take some back to the nest for the queen. In about 2 to 3 weeks, you will notice...no ants. This really works, it is what I used and it has been about 6 months now, and still no ants. PP

Totally agree that this concoction really does work. It's not instantaneous and is not supposed to be. Eventually the queen gets poisoned and the ants disappear.

    Another economical solution http://www.antbuster.com/product.asp

I use this only. Each packet very small, put some in strategic places in house where ants are present. One packet does it, although I buy the larger quantity of packets to keep on hand. It has a halucegenic chemical with poison. Kills entire nest in 3 days. What I love is if you search you will find the ant cemetary as they pile their dismembered dead onto a pile. I like to see the evidence that they are indeed dying. They go insane and kill each other, until the few remaining just die from the poison. They even destroy their own eggs before death as well as the queen. The site claiims it works on any breed of ant anywhere in the world. I can say that is true for Thailand and the US.

  6. I was on the fence but the menu looked tasty so I gave it a shot. There were a few people in there last night, maybe 3 other tables. Apparently they haven't done much advertising yet, but if they keep the quality up they could do well in that spot.

We ate there when it first opened, not bad, but not worth writing home about. I eat breakfast at Kellys a couple doors down, and noticed their pizzas are a few baht cheaper, but never ate theirs, so cant really compare. There is a pizza place past Big C Hang Dong, on the left, that is always very busy. We ate there a few times, and I swear that is the best pizzas in CM. Non spicy or any level spicy, and a choice of 3 crusts. Highly recommend it, but sorry the name slips me at the moment.

  7. The Piston Shop (Khun Nat) sells Pirelli tyres.

He speaks English OK, and gives a good service.

On Atsadathorn Road, left hand side if coming from the moat.

All the other Chiangmai TV members are too busy discussing Western food to reply!

    Haha...I think I know where it is....Thanks!

Also go to end of 1006, at the river, turn left, past Dukes rest. (now closed) turn left at Mikes Burgers, down not far, there is a bank on the right side, sorry forget which one, with a soi next to it. turn right on that soi, within a block distance, left side, is a wholesale motorcycle tire outlet. They dont mount, but much cheaper price even with paying another place to mount them. Thats the only place I will buy tires for my bike.

  8. The bbq Chiangmai, its exact location is as follows.

Going up Suthep Rd, moat behind you.

Go past Wat Suan Dork on the left, continue past the row of shop houses, a Bangkok Bank branch and you will go under a large Tree that overhangs the road.

Immediately after the tree is the BBQ next to and just before the Kasinkorn (Thai Farmers for my generation) Bank.

    john

    Must visit.

Theres always one who knows how to give directions. You just have to muddle through the guess work and confusion of others. Thank you Jonwilly. We are going there soon. Bon Apetit.

  9. Found limes this morning in the market for 13 baht each. And expected to go higher, says the sales lady.

Got 10 small trees from a garden center last year 1 meter high, that had limes on the plant. Now they are in white blossom so I am happy I bought them.

Apart from the fruit the crushed leaves sap is anti mozzy.

The trees were only 70 baht each to buy. These shortages ??? I wonder if there are or is it a nice money spinner for someone.

Not familiar with the phrase, ''mozzy''. Whats it mean?'

  10. They do take debit cards, but don't take Thai ones, but are happy to take international ones... from my experience as well.

Possible reason for this may be found in the lower left corner of the Thai debit cards. Small print it says for ATM transactions only. I thought it was due to my being farang, but found it on my wife's debit card as well.

I found it to be a minor inconvenience the one and only time I tried to buy something in a dept store, but after thinking about it, decided that is preferred. If lost or stolen, it cant be used to empty the account with purchases, and with no PIN # its useless in the ATM.

  11. I, an American, married to a Central Thai woman, and having a 3 y.o. Luk Khrueng in K2 we are both somewhat surprised, but not, with this story. We enrolled our daughter in,and love Tonkla school, here in Chiang Mai. They emphasize bilingual education, and have many children Luk Krueng farang as well as Luk Krueng Asian attending. I.m sorry to say they do not yet go as high as grade P6, but are adding grade levels as the school grows. The reason I bring this up, is you might, with your wife, contact in person the Tonkla's administration for suggestions as to what schools are available in the area with similar criteria as Tonkla. If you are serious and want another school option, I can contact another American who has his son enrolled in another school down town C.M. He mentioned that the school his Luk Krueng son attends is as good or better than Tonkla. Send me a private message if interested, I will get more information from him.

  12. In our mooban, there are dozens of these Koels and they go at it in the mornings, but 3am as you said??? Birds don't wake up til sunrise. You have 1 and that bothers you? Try dozens, crapping on everything, calling each other for hours, dive bombing cats (that part is entertaining), and eating the dog and cat food, left by your pets.

We have dozens of doves to listen to, which I enjoy listening to, but the wife wont let me kill those dammit. They are tasty.
