  1. Someone once told me when I heard my house (without title) might be knocked down by the army after the tsunami ''Inertia rules in Thailand''. after 25 years living here, it is so true.
  2. I love watching tourists ask the supermarkets to explain why alcohol sales are forbidden during school hours - then throw their hands up in the air, in despair. Little knowing that your local Thai grocery store will sell you booze at any hour, day or night. This is why I love Thailand. It makes you laugh every day. Good for your health.
  3. no need for a Royal Pardon. look back at history ''it was an honest mistake'' and boxes of cookies to the Supreme Court. My investor group of expats appealed to the SC. If you are an expat, they're as uselful as a bunch of gollywogs. 555
  4. I think this is not going to be a ''here today, gone tomorrow'' news item. Just click bait. There are major players in what is now a hugely financed industry. The shop front operators will get shut down as they have no power. At the same time, many private and publicly traded companies have invested billons of baht in farms and by product facilities. they ain't going away soon. Despite the loonie behind the original idea, this is a super boost for new, Thai health related exports.
  5. remember to stock up on some clones. ????
  6. 2 alternatives routes of escape: a submarine with a malfunctioning engine; a Thai copy of the Hindenburg airship. Hope they do an audit of this (deleted)'s family assets accumulated since he came to power.
  7. dont know who I want as PM. certainly someone who destroys the feudal educational system and the power of regional godfather political mafia families who have destroyed this country for far too long. the question is - arent the number of coup-appointed senators stacked against a clean break from the coup makers. ?
  8. no worries, mate. remember this is the country where you can get a beer in a teacup on religious holidays. It is sort of like the old saying ''you know you've lived in Thailand too long, when you realize everything you've read is not true and everything you own is a copy. ''
  9. is the POA a new requirement?. I registered my new tenant, in June 2022. .all we presented to the IO section in Phuket town were (i) TM30 (ii) lease, (iii) house papers, and (iv) a very out-of-date id card for the Thai man registered on the house papers (tambien baan). They weren't 100% happy. But they did process the change of address, which is all my tenant needed. Background: I hold the head lease.
  10. I guess that comes from shooting your bolt..:)
  11. I hear you - you're in the city.....Waay down in South Thai, I was interested to be told that they have variations on what they refer to the services provided - short game, long game . Whatever turns their crank is fine with me. but you do know, officially, there's no prostitution in Thailand? ????
  12. learn the slang....it's ''short time game''
  13. yep - do the numbers - she came here as a 5 year old fugitive. ????
  14. Not sure why you'd describe yourself as a ''lowly teacher'' . All the teachers I meet have well paid jobs and enough spare cash to party on holidays, until its time to head back to their home country. . back to on topic: the root problem, as always, is it is often impossible to comment intelligently, due to lazy reporting of the facts, in the most of the Thai media. then again, ignorance is bliss ????
  15. so called tax-perts, people who live in ivory towers. another reason to not retire here, part time or full time with family connection back in your home country.
  16. we are never thankful enough, until a truly generous soul passes on. RIP, Joe.
  17. what 'pharmacies' ? all I see in Patong is ''Organic Weed'' shops fronts - half of them closed. when you mention Calif imports, i thought that's illegal.
  18. upcoming election.... I vote for Gollum for PM.
  19. The shops in the tourist frequented areas are soooo overpriced. not in rural Thailand. ''high class'' shops (with a fancy decorated interior) sell for 250-350. if you know how to connect to the locals excellent bud can be had for 100baht/gm.
  20. my wife says 'you can look, but you cannot touch'.
  21. and there is zero chance that Thai authorities will accept that THEY allow the organizers to put on and they approve of these Full Moon Parties - because it brings in tourist dollars. Just read today's news about 20,000 at the most recent FMP and all the money it brings in. This young woman and many more who died for similar toxicity reasons, I am sure would have had a better chance of surviving, if the Dutch model was in place. Remember......life is worth zero here.
  22. 1. report your credit card as stolen, asap., regardless of whether its returned or not. 2. get a referral to a Thai divorce lawyer, based in a major town, not in the village, despite what anyone tells you. This will allow you to get advice about whether your rights are affected by moving out, before you get the divorce finalized. then, 3. In the meanwhile, as carefully as you can, collect all your papers, passport etc. do you have a copy of the builders/construction agreement to build the house and receipt? 4. Id' go to your local branch and open a safety deposit box, with the arrangement that you are the sole signatory to have access. Put anything of value in there. where is your retirement deposit book located? 3. get out (subject to your lawyers advice) ......if you stay, its likely that she will work you over, mentally. Truly sorry for your situation. There's good and poor advice here, all well meaning. in your circumstances, you need a divorce lawyer, absolutely, to be following his/her advice, not here.
