  1. Boater. Your priority now is your Immigration status. You could be on a lot of overstay allready.

well i am going to the tourist police in about 30 Mins, then i am going to the embassey

will they co - ordinate with immergration to see my actual Visa status and see how long i am over or if my visa is still valid

i spoke with someone in the office who told me it is valid till the 7th Jan 2010.

    thanks

    good luck boater.

  2. Boater. Your priority now is your Immigration status. You could be on a lot of overstay allready.

As said get a police report and get another Passport from the Embassy. Leave by air and pay any overstay they ask for . Come back on a Visa and get legal. That's what I would do, but maybe I'm a wimp.

no your not being a wimp just thinking in a common sense sort of way.If i were boater i just would n't want to go through the stress and possible danger to ones self in pursuing anything, while justice might not be impossible to find its bloody hard to get imo.

  3. If it were me i would not be hanging around, bluff or no bluff(remember tea money solves everything in thailand, and we farang have very little chance of justice here).I would go to my embassy after having gone to police in BKK to reports its loss in bkk,get a new passport,go somwhere nice and chill out.Later when the heat has died down, get another visa and come back and start again, but you will be wise to stay clear of samui in the future.

  4. might as well, there's bugger all interest to be had,but safes at home can be robbed too.

When I was staying up in Isaan near the end of the rice harvest before Christmas I was thinking

how attractive or otherwise it would be have an outbuilding full of bags of rice as an alternative

" investment " -it seems like a more attractive asset to me than bars of gold which you can't eat. :D

But can you believe at that time almost every day there stories of burglars that had wandered around

the villages in the middle of the night stealing bags of rice. :D I never thought they would rob

    from the poor farmers. :o

and if they do that now, what will it be like when things really get bad.any farang that thinks he's safe cos he's married into a thai family i think should think again.at the end of the day nothing we have is really safe.however sharing what we have with everone in the local community may go a long way to reducing such a threat.

  5. 44% of people in the UK no longer feel comfortable leaving their money in a bank :o

    Oh Boy :D

They better get on it ( the banks & governments I mean ) Because as we have seen this house of cards is based on faith.

Most dont know or even care to know the inner workings. But they ( banks & governments ) have to look like they at least know what their doing. If not then as we are seeing now folks start to lose faith & get anxious....uncomfortable with the whole thing. Then they start to pull out of the system. Then the system fails.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy.

This is from The Times of London

Savers vault from the banks to a safe place at home

    Steve Bird

Sales of household safes have surged as wealthy savers concerned about the health of banks opt to keep cash at home.

Leading safe manufacturers contacted by The Times said that they had seen a big increase in demand. Many predicted a meltdown in the banking sector.

One company said that sales had increased by a quarter, while another said that its staff had received calls from panicking investors who now wanted to keep their savings locked away at home.

Russ Reader, the managing director of Leigh Safes, which makes, fits and sells safes, said: "It's simple: if there's a lack of confidence in banks, people buy and fit European and insurance-approved safes and put the contents on their home insurance.

"We've seen a 25 per cent increase in sales and inquiries over the last four weeks, in particular for higher-grade safes that insurance companies approve for larger sums. It all started with the troubles at Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley."

Gunnebo, which owns the Chubb-safes brand, one of the biggest safe manufacturers, has seen a 15 per cent increase in sales.

Anthony Neary, a partner at Safe Shop, an internet-based sales company, said: "We've had three recent calls from people saying that they want to take their cash savings out of the bank and put it into a safe. One was withdrawing £50,000, another £10,000 and the other £4,000. I was staggered. But the last week has seen a sea change in public opinion. There's no question that people are thinking about it.

"In a month or two I expect a dramatic increase in the sales of residential-user safes."

Robert Phillips, the managing director of Safe Options, said he had had calls from people claiming to have lost confidence in the banking system and wanting underfloor safes fitted.

The increase in sales of domestic safes is also thought to be linked, in part, to those who had heeded warnings of a potential collapse in the housing market and either sold buy-to-let properties or their own homes and moved into rented accommodation to live off the interest from the wealth they had amassed during the property boom.

Safes are built to comply with a "Eurograde" requirement – the higher the grade, the larger the sum an insurance company will insure cash stored within it.

A spokeswoman for Which?, the consumer organisation, said: "As for where is safest for your money, the first £50,000 of your savings with a financial institution is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Which? would advise anyone wanting to protect larger sums of money to spread their savings across a number of banks and financial institutions, so that there is no more than £50,000 in each one."

Insurance companies are also likely to advise wealthy people who have lost faith in the banking system to store money in safe deposit boxes rather than home safes.

might as well, there's bugger all interest to be had,but safes at home can be robbed too.

  6. Just watching Thai news eating dinner and saw the most sickening report. 7 Thai men raped a 13 year old girl in a deserted house near khon khen (how ever you spell that).

I have seen a few news stories like this in recent months and i know of 2 thai friends who were raped when young. My GF tells me that it is not uncommon for ladies walking alone to get bundled into cars and gang raped. She tells me rape is a huge problem in Thailand and is always scared of walking alone. I know this happens all over the world and is not exclusive to Thailand, but is this a major problem here? Should we be more concerned for our partners safety here than in our home lands?

It sickens me to think that 7 grown men coordinated and carried out such an evil act.

    thoughts ? Experiences? Knowledge?

This was front page headlines of the Thai newspapers this morning. Yes, it is sickening but the same kind of thing goes on in Farangland everyday. Thought i would elighten you if you didnt know.

Well I know that it does not go on everyday in "farangland" as you call it. Why lie? Why are you diverting attention to the topic's location? Where is this place "farangland" anyhow? Why not Asialand?? or Africaland?? Don't like westeners eh? You enlightened nothing. In fact, you knowingly made it darker.

i asked guesthouse the same question,so i will ask you "how do you know"? that it does n't go on in the west, and is n't reported.

  7. maybe for now VV,but what happens if these services are withdrawn,or whittled away through lack of funds.Do you not think the govt. are not making contingency plans for such a scenario...............homeland security, increase in citizens joining the army, building camps attached to army and airforce bases on the pretext of housing incase of natural disasters...................its not difficult imo to see where this is leading too.

  8. grant took chelsea to within a whisker of the league and a couple of instances of stupidity of the european cup and got sacked for it. he was hard done by. scolari's been even harder done by. the way chelsea are treating their managers in recent times can't make it the most appealing job to top managers right now.

too many players on too much money under performing.when grant was in charge drogba got injured and grant bought in Anelka(big mistake and still paying for it)before this all happened drogba was a force in that team, and its never been the same since.

  9. My ex-wife was raped by one of her classmates. This was how she lost her virginity.

She explained the she and her girl friend went to one of her male classmates house after school.

The male classmates told the girls they were to either let him screw them both or he would call his brother and he would bring his friends around and they would make a party of it.

My ex said ok, and she let him rape her but the friend said no and she paid the price, the older brother came with his friends and she was gang raped.

My ex staggered home and when her dad saw the blood on her legs etc he went ballistic, informed the police and the male classmate ended up spending some time in in a prison of some sorts. I am not too sure of all the details as my ex didn't want to get into them or didn't really understand as she was too young.

So, there was as far as I know a little justice metered out on that part, unfortunately the other girl didn't have any family members that cared enough and her gang rape went unoticed.

The ex spoke about it as though it was fairly normal occurance and not much of a big deal.

A few years later into our married life she let me know a little more about why the Dad was so p1ssed off and brought charges against the guy, it seemed the Mum had already sold my ex wife's virginity to some old Japanese sicko pervert <deleted> in Sriracha and since the ex was raped the Mum couldn't collect the money.

Unfortunately for Thailand that Mum had three daughters who all ended up on the game at the age of 16, helped out by their Mum....

Now tell me how any society in the world where a parent could ever treat their daughter(s) like this can teach the young men to respect women enough not to see them as walking TNA?

The most unfortunate part about this story is that all three daughters ended up marrying foreigners and have added probably a combined tally of around 100 million baht into the family so far, not bad for an Udon family who sold fish in the local wet market before they had a couple of girls.

All three girls have had failed marriages, have drug problems and all sorts of issues but the family have nearly 10 houses and apartments, several cars and so therefore the respect of anyone who knows them...

    Makes me feel sick.

such a sad story, there's little love left in this world.

  10. what to do when the money runs out(or wiped out)no money and everyone's in shit street, with no power to do anything about it.You would like to think that thailand would be well placed to survive, you know it has great food production, and because there's no real welfare structure, there's more reliance placed on "family" to help each other get by.BUT........we are not thinking straight because this will become all about control(govt. control)of populations world wide.

And what about farang in thailand?I could quite easily see the day of forced deportation back to country of origin, for no other reason than that they can,our money in thailand will mean nothing, because they wont care about farang/thai family disruption.IMO things are going to go apesh-t very quickly,so enjoy everyday you can.

  11. For any who are interested go to daily mail UK online(sorry i do not know how to attach onto topic). There's an interesting comment by ed Balls a minister in the labour govt. in the UK about the coming depression being worse than the 1930's,and an admission like this from a govt. minister is quite something.another article is from a whistleblower at HBOS who gave evidence to a parliamentary commitee(so free from prosecution)Its in todays's issue.

  12. This kind of thing makes my f*cking blood boil but I guess we shouldn't be too surprised that a corporate-fascist state protects the interest of big industry; it's what it's there for, after all.

me too,how ridiculous to name those herbs/plants as toxic when they have been used in cooking and remedies for centuries.when we see chemicals/pesticides produced by co. like monsato that degredate the soil, polute waterways and probably do great harm to our bodies.

  13. Yes, it is sickening but the same kind of thing goes on in Farangland everyday. Thought i would elighten you if you didnt know.

The topic under discussion is the rape of a child by seven adults in Thailand.

Now I accept that you might be predisposed to clouding this bad news item from Thailand but your suggestion that such attacks take place in Farangland everyday is nonsense.

I can't remember the last time I heard of any such attack in any of the corners of Farangland I've lived in, that such attacks take place is probably without doubt - But that they take place every day utter hogwash.

how the hel_l do you know one way or the other,as the poster said"often go unreported"

  14. hmmm to be honest this site has gone way downhill... i have already backed off a bit because most of the posts are crap these days, a lot of the people who come on here are sad losers, and well, the other issues i have with TV can't be discussed :o ... i certainly would not pay for a site that is censored to the extent this one is. but i do still have the occasional question that can't be answered anywhere else so i won't completely abandon it until there is some viable competition. mobi i sent you a PM as well hoping to get info on how to turn off these garish and annoying ads.

please define a "sad loser" and also give us examples of your qualifications to make such a statement?are you a sad loser?

  15. without wanting to get into a fashion debate,i really like the thai modesty/shyness when on the beach.dont get me wrong i love looking at bikini clad girls too.what i really find disgusting is overweight western women walking around or sun bathing wearing just a bikini bottom. Its like they're saying "<deleted> you" just because i'm flabby, overweight or just obese,i dont care what anyone thinks and i'll do what i like even if it means defying gravity!

I've never been to Koh Samui but can't believe it's that common! It's v rare to see a Western woman on Phuket walking around or sunbathing topless, regardless of how attractive/unattractive they are! Most tourists come here knowing it's definetely 'not OK'!

well F1 i've seen them many times on chaweng beach and fisherman village beach and i really think its very "not on" especially knowing the thai culture norms.many of the beach massage ladies will point and giggle and i know both thai men and women alike find it offensive.

  17. Dude, NuLabour are in this for the long haul, they've supped at the trough now for over ten years, they like what they sup and they ain't going down without a fight, mark my words.

The Brown Man will hang on to the bitter end in the hope of the recession easing and then taking the credit for it. Then the Tories will have a battle on their hands.

Give me tory sleaze any day over the Stasi-like Labour machinations and wrecking balls that have been unleashed on the economy!

going back 20 or 30 years the only sleeze you could pin on a tory was cross dressing, sado masochism etc,how i loved those days, but i fear they will not return, the pigs swill in the trough has become too much for even the tories to resist, although i suspect the cross dressing will continue as wll.

  18. perishing in a fire must be absolutely horrific and terrible for those who have lost friends and family members.

But i would like to say that the majority of bushfires are started by people with no brains, and i for one would like any that are caught through forensic evidence and found guilty to be given very harsh sentences, because at the end of the day they have been responsible for committing murder or at the very least, manslaughter.and i dont want to hear that they had a deprived childhood,or are proved to be 2 bricks short of a wall and hence not responsible for their actions.

  19. Hi,

I need to send payment to Australia in Australian dollars, to a private person who won't set up a PayPal account and does not want me to make a direct bank-to-bank transfer. My accounts are in the UK or Thailand so can't send a cheque. Is an International Money Order OK for this? If so where can I get one and can I buy one in Australian Dollars? Any other way of doing it?

thats a tough one,if your in thailand you could transfer via western union, recipient collects at a post office,in aussie dollars but you have to send in thai baht which is good for you cos of the current exchange rate.

  20. grant took chelsea to within a whisker of the league and a couple of instances of stupidity of the european cup and got sacked for it. he was hard done by. scolari's been even harder done by. the way chelsea are treating their managers in recent times can't make it the most appealing job to top managers right now.

Presumably Scolari will get a full payout of his contract. I,m not sure how many million that will be so the positive for him is that in 7 short months he has made an awful lot of money. The negative of course is his reputation ,however, seeing the way Chelsea treat their managers the fallout for him might not be that bad. Will be interesting to hear his reaction unless his contact payout stipulates he cant comment.Meanwhile the likes of Ballack, Drogba, Deco will continue to stroll around the park pretending they are committed to the cause.Shouldnt they have been moved on first ?

good point, deco is not fit to play in the EPL(not his scene, too scared to get injured, ballack looks like he's on holiday, and boswinga had a really bad day against hull, then anelka does n't look like he likes to get his hands dirty, time to transfer out)i think they really miss joe cole and essien. And probably when alls said and done abramovitch needs to sell and go back to russia.
