I was visiting my son in the US. Bright and early one morning someone was knocking on the front door. My son told me not to answer it because it was a group of bible thumpers. I answered it anyways and invited them in. Just to clarify something. I'm not a big drinker and NEVER drink in the morning. We all sat around the kitchen table and before they could get started, I opened the fridge and offered them all a beer. They were quick to tell me that they don't drink alcohol. I acted offended and told them that we really had nothing to talk about because I don't trust people who didn't drink. I opened the door and they all left without saying another word. My son's wife was VERY embarrassed and my son had a good laugh.

not all people like to drink alcohol early in the morning and seeing as they were out going door to door it would not be appropriate would it,to partake.did you offer them tea or coffee.JW'S do not ban alcohol as part of their beliefs,many do drink,but the bible says to do so in moderation,individual jw's may not drink alcohol,but that would be a personal decision.

Have another read of Gary A's post....it was a deliberate act not to offer tea and coffee....he could of offered tea and coffee & then they would of accepted & then he wouldnt of been able to say that he can't trust someone that doesnt drink tea and coffee.

neverdie i think i do have a sense of humour,but i did n't see Gary A's story as funny because really he was taking the piss by asking them in full well knowing they would decline his offer,and i thought it was a childish thing to do.I dont think i walk the moral high ground either,just one of common sense,and if you have read any of my replies to other threads you would know i like a joke as much as the next person.As for being a do gooder(what does that mean)does it mean someone who likes to do good,if so,then yes i am guilty of this.I will admit it is sometimes hard to decipher someone's intent by what they have written,and yes i can be found guilty of being too serious sometimes,but there is a lot of ridiculing on this thread towards people who follow their beliefs and live it to the full and who by going door to door hope to share it with others..........................i rest my case.

pure hatred is a very is a very destructive force to any person pursuing it.

i can understand why people get fed up with JW's when they continually return to their house.

But what i cant understand are some of the vile comments about them from some of the posters here.It says more about some of the people here posting on TV than it does about the JW callers.

I have always understood that immigration want your money in a savings account to show you are using the money on a daily basis.After you receive the extension there's nothing to stop you transferring a portion to a fixed term if you want to.

There is nothing in the requirements for movements in accounts since the first entry; that is the reason people use the same 800,000 every year for retirement extensions as the aforesaid sum kept in tact in the account conforms to the necessary and current rules no matter how many years or extensions.

i beg to differ,they need to see an account that shows you are using it on a daily basis.you can have an account that always shows you have 800,000baht for retirement extension purposes,but they may ask to see another account that you are using daily,otherwise ,yes an immigration officer will ask "what are you living on" if all you show is an unused account continually showing the 800,000 baht untouched.common sense surely!

Why don't you just give her your ATM card, pin number and let her use the money as she sees fit, seeing as it is a loving relationship founded on common grounds.

But seriously, if you want to spend your life with a "working girl", 10k per month should be more than enough. But keep in mind that there are no pensions / social security for her and her family and if you are the only cash cow you will be milked (probably dry) ... It is sad to see farangs get taken to the cleaners, but it's also sad to see these Isaan "woking girls" get left stranded when their farang boyfriends (who they have given their bodies to in exchange for long term financial support ) leave them high and dry.

I keep my money in 2 accounts, 1 which is attached me to my visa/debit account and the other with a much higher interest rate which I simply have to go online and transfer (that day if done early enough) into my my other account. That way my money which I am not using earns me more than the crappy interest rate the banks give you for an average saving account. They make money, with my ammount I make money just depends on how much you have in your account.

I could see the authorities increasing the monetary requirements,rather than decrease them.but yes i agree times are tough due to poor x rates,and diminishing interest being earnt on income/savings investments.only answer i see is to tighten the belt,or return home.
